5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

another nice day.
1. Up reasonably early, washing on & out, steak popped in slow cooker for dinner later, picnic made.
2. Out to beach again! It takes an hour to get there, we lived 15 minutes from beach before. It's only 20 miles away but because of the volume of traffic (and it was all the crazy drivers out today!) it takes ages. However, we have found a good stretch of beach, which is easy to park at and not to far to walk with kayak. The sea is the most clear, greeny- blue and so shallow for kids being in. The sand is (apart from the bane of my life....it goes everywhere!) beautiful. It's not too busy and apart from sand going everywhere I just love the beach. When I am there I do feel I love Australia. ( I don't love it everyday but I'm getting there!)
3.enjoyed an ice lolly at beach......only 50cents each! about 30p!
4.home and put veg on & puff pastry in oven, quick de-sanding shower & then a lovely dinner of steak pie & veggies. First time I've used slow cooker since we got here. Used it a lot at home, but probably more when I was working.
5.Relaxing evening!
It's been a lovely weekend.....rain forecast for next few days!0 -

Afternoon all.
Reverbe - it's nice to know you're still around.I hope you manage to get some free tea samples - there's several companies I've signed up with and never hear from (not Yorkshire Tea, though, as I don't drink tea) - it's all very odd.
Ladyhawk - I hope you get your sleepiness sorted out - it's no fun to feel like that all the time.
monkeymagic - thanks for the tip off about the moon - I somehow missed noticing last night, but will definitely have a look tonight.
zarazara - I didn't know you kept sheep, and am now a little jealous - I'd love to have some but don't think they'd like my tiny, city-centre patio garden somehow!
Mine for today:
1) A lie-in this morning, which was particularly welcome as I woke up early this morning then couldn't get back to sleep for ages as I was worrying about too many things: my cat and the possibility of huge vet's bills; my very sick car and the need to get a new one asap; my sister learning she's going to be made redundant; problems with the house my grandmother's trying to buy - the current owners, who are friends of my DM's, have learnt they've been victims of a neat scam - neat because, apparently, it's all legal  ...
2) Had a brief wander round the farmer's market but only bought one thing - a jar of locally-produced honey.
3) Had a pleasantly directionless mooch along the saefront, then home along the backstreets, all in nice warm sunshine.
4) A pleasant chat with my DF on the phone, and he reassured me that my his and DM's cat also drinks a lot of water but they've been told it's just a natural part of feline ageing - that gives me hope the same will be true of my mog.
5) Choice of either going out with friends tonight or staying at home and watching Hairy Bikers on iplayer - both seem appealing and I just need to make up my mind!
Have a pleasant evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Evening Ladies,
hope you are all ok.
CCP - hope things start looking up for you and the mog is ok. I sympathise with your car issues.
1) Helping my friends, A & N, to rehome their two kitties... with my brother who's fiancee is due on Thursday. Needless to say she is not very impressed with me! But the kitties are gorgeous!
2) Chatting with my mum on the phone this afternoon - she is coming to visit in June/ July for 3 weeks without my Dad, which should be interesting. I know she is going to be focussed most of the time on the new baby but it will be nice to be able to do some girly things with her without worrying about my Dad.
3) Popped into Mr S to get provisions for the baking extravaganza for the work Red Nose Day bake off. I bought two bunches of daffs while I was there which will bring me much pleasure.
4) The first sponge seems to have turned out well. It is going to form the base of my dragon cake. I am also going to make some red velvet cupcakes and maybe some cookie monster cupcakes.
5) Lovely hot bath my book (and shaved my legs)
6) As a result of number 5, I am definitely looking forward to getting between my lovely freshly changed sheets... bliss!
7) Dyed my hair - my very grey roots were becoming all too obvious (I'm only 31 but would be almost completely grey... if it weren't for the fact that have been dying my hair since I was 18!)
8) Got loads of washing done... I might even stretch to doing some ironing, but one wouldn't want to overstretch one's self, now would one?
could everyone send my car positive vibes as it should be released from car hospital tomorrow... (de ja vu!)
Night
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Evening all. I'm a bit fraught at the moment (just stuff) but it had been a good day. Would go as far as to say great but the latter parts of it haven't been brilliant. Anyway, here's the pleasures:
1. Chatting to a neighbour who showed me her Mum's cookbook. She is in her 70s and the cookbook was one of the old rationing ones. It was beautiful and fascinating to share.
2. Chatting with another neighbour in the sunshine.
3. The sunshine.
4. Got the car cleaned. OK, so it dried while I was doing something else and there are some watermarks on it, but at least it is clean otherwise.
5. Had some more homemade minestrone soup for lunch and it was just as good second time around.
6. Saw a couple of bees going about their business, as a lot of the trees around us are in blossom now.
7. Saw some squirrels while out on a walk.
8. The Moto GP is on this weekend.
9. Made a batch of Twink's. I swear each batch gets better and better.
10. A NSD!
That's ten, so I'm definitely trying to find the silver lining to my cloud. It will pass. I must have patience with my bad mood as tomorrow will be another day.
Have a good evening, everyone.

CCP - I hope things become less worrying very, very soon.
Lovely day today - mostly thanks to good weather.
1) Spoke to my mum this morning who seems much brighter. Hopefully her adjusted medication will keep her well.
2) A lovely sunny day. Lots of outdoor-ness. DH and I did loads of weeding and he mowed the lawn for the first time. Washing on the line too.
3) A NSD.
4) The joy of seeing my boys playing together without too much bickering - playing on the field behind the house; watching Harry Potter together and then having a lego-building contest. Fraternal bliss!
5) A chiff chaff singing a lovely song high up in the tree overhead as we worked together in the garden.
6) HM tandoori chicken in the oven - the smell is lovely!DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Evening
Pleasures for today:
1. New towels washed and dried on the line. They have come up lovely and fluffy, they only cost £3 each for bath sheets thanks to another thread
2. Managed a 12 mile walk today around virginia water, then into Windsor Great Park and down the long walk to Windsor Castle. The long walk gives spectacular views of the castle. Did this back in reverse to make up our mileage.
3. Sun shining all the time we were walking and lots of laughter as well
4. Bacon, egg and mushroom sandwich at the end of walk it tasted sooo good
5. Soak in the bath when got home and a read of my book
Hugs to all who need them.
CCP - Hope your worries lessen soon
Ladyhawk - Hope your car issues are sorted tomorrow0 -
Hoping everyone with troubles overcomes them, hugs to all the poorlies, and poorly cars - hope it isn't contageous!
Still no word from Frith, am very concerned as she was unhappy in her last post. Sending thoughts and prayers your way for you and your family Frith, just come back when you feel you can
Posting has been a bit erratic lately, for some reason my get up and go has got up and gone. Thanks everyone for the inspirational posts, and the effort you've put in even though you sometimes feel a bit down, tells me I should be making more effort. However the kitchen is just about finished and the lounge in almost back to normal so maybe that will make me feel a bit more enthusiastic. I've been very lucky today and don't have to think what lovely blessings I've had...
1. Phoned my friend in Rhodes, told her what day we'll be in port there and she's going to meet us and we'll go to Stigmes to a restaurant owned by some friends, where she took me on my last visit. It does the best fish dishes and is right on the waterside which will please my DM
2. A new lady in my fellowship phoned me this morning, she's struggling with her illness but after chatting for half an hour or so said she felt a lot happier, then agreed to go to a meeting with me at lunch time
3. Went to several places looking for a venetian blind cutter, none of the shops had one. One didn't even know what I was talking about, and they sell venetian blinds. Bumped into a friend of a friend on my way out of the last shop and he said he has one which I'm welcome to borrow. Aren't folk kind?
4. Did some mending/alterations this afternoon, now I have some clothes to wear which won't drag on the floor. Oh, the joys of being five feet nothing...
5. The weather. I feel spring is definitely sprung, cos the grass is riz and sorely needs cutting, and the birdie's on the wing...or is it the other way around? Either way it lifts yer spirits, don' it?
Night night, sweet dreams

(((hugs))) to those who need them tonight. I'm feeling a little bit bleugh as well, but that's just me being very silly and I'm sure by tomorrow, normal service will be resumed.....or else, lol.
Weekend joys:
1. MrA invited me and DD to join him and his son for lunch on Saturday, sadly we couldn't go as we were getting ready for DD's party, but I was very pleased he thought of us as I know his weekends with son are quite sacrosanct
2. DD's birthday party was fabulous, the girls all had such fun and us grownups partied too
3. I've spent most of the weekend being amazingly hungover after being very silly on Friday night.......
4. NSD today, yippee!
5. Friend popped over with a big bag of books for me0 -
My five for the past couple of days are
1. A lovely day on Saturday and I needed to do some gardening - to tidy it up before I start planting.
2. Making some lentil soup so thats my lunches organized for a few days.
3. Being able to calm a friend down so she is hopefully in the right frame of mind for an interview today. She would be much happier in another job.
4. Knitting more of my jumper. I really enjoy knitting and wonder why I don't do it more often.
5. Seeing the moon on Saturday night.
6. Our road being quiet - it is closed further up so no through traffic and is so peaceful. I do think its amusing cars coming down ignoring all the signs and have to turn back adding a couple of miles onto their journey.
7. When I go out by car now I am much more organized and combining jobs into one trip. Saves time and petrol.
8. Reading more of my book, One of a large pile that I am rereading before giving away.0
