Caterina, hope the interview has whatever result you hope for ;)

    Frith, hope things are ok.

Hugs to all that needs them.

Struggling just now. Seems Oh's ex has been telling untruths to stepson1 and now he is treating OH with disdain and an underlying sense of despising. So history has been dug up and SS1 has been told a lot of the divorce episode he's tried to forget. So not a great atmosphere this weekend.

    so need to find 5....

    1. Cooking most things from scratch means we can cut down salt for OH's blood pressure.

    2. The sunshine, even though I'm not feeling very sunny.

    3. A difficult 2 weeks at work are over and though stressed, I survived in tact without making major mistakes.

    4. Standing up for myself at work to the very person I was most scared of when I worked there before (at a timid aged 17) and realising how I have changed.

    5. We have plenty of food to last till payday.

    6. OH and the boys are all out, so I have some peace to try and restore my spirits. I'm very much the sort of person who NEEDS their alone time.

    Hi all

Thank you everybody for all the good wishes re. my interview on Wednesday evening, I will keep you all updated, of course!

Ladyhawk, I am ALWAYS considering the rat race, I keep dropping in and out of it because after a while playing housie housie I get bored and the housie gets back to its normal state of medium filth! Then I promise myself that as soon as I get a job I shall pay for a few hours' cleaner a week, then I get a job and after a few months I am frantic to give it up... and so it goes round.

However, in reality I think that ALL I really want is to find a very part time job (this one ticks the box, being 2 days per week, 5 hours per day, 10 to 3), quite local (this one is not, but it is in easy reach by public transport), interesting (this one COULD be). But above all I want to work in a pleasant, non conflictual environment, where I can rely on a supportive and professional boss and where my work is varied enough to keep me interested. The bonus would be to get a job where I can develop more skills and where I can take some responsibility, in a non-blame culture where I am allowed to make errors but these are regarded as opportunities to learn. There, this is my message to the Universe, if most of these boxes are ticked I could probably stay longer (I stayed 7 years in the one before my last. Having said that, if all the other boxes are ticked but the "pleasant boss/pleasant environment" aren't, I am quite happy to go back to play housie housie! Assuming, of course, that I got that job, which is not a given!

Here are my pleasures for today:

    1 - The weather!!!

2 - Did I mention the weather? Such a difference to my mood when the sun is shining!

3 - Long walk in the park with a friend followed by lovely cuppa in a cafe in Greenwich.

4 - Lunch with DH at home.

5 - DH almost finished digging up the rest of the allotment, only small patches to do. I have ordered some compost (my milkman delivers it!) so I shall start planting next week and planning the planting soon!

6 - Cup of tea at friend's while DH, DD and her BF watched the rugby. Oh-oh, just discovered that the English are getting a punishment at the hands of the Irish, oh dear....(well so did Italy at the hands of Scotland - but does my face look bovver'd? :rotfl:)

Have a good evening everybody x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Hi all,

Just want to add an extra one from earlier in the week....

Finally having found a recipe for white sauce that works for me!! Manged it 3 times now :D

After years of disaster I used to buy Bisto white sauce - but no longer!!

Thanks to the recipe on a Sainsbury Basics Lasagna sheet packet ;)

    Evening all.

Caterina - good luck with the interview - I hope the job turns out to be all you want it to be.

I'm struggling a little on pleasures today as it hasn't been a great day despite being a Saturday: I've still got the headache I had all day yesterday; I had a really frsutrating shopping trip as neither of the two remaining sports shops in the town centre have women's trainers sized above 5 1/2 (which is just silly - and annoying as I really need some ); and I'm going to have to take the puddy to the v-e-t next week as he's started drinking worrying quantities of water. I'll see what I can find, though:

    1) Nice lie-in this morning.

    2) Pretty sunshine to walk into the town centre - the sea was beautifully sparkly. :)

    3) A slightly complicated one - I've been wanting a new radio alarm clock for a while and found one as a reward on one of the survey sites I'm a member of. I worked out, though, that it costs the equivalent of £25 in survey points, but I can use the same quantity of points to get a £25 Amazon voucher, from where the exact same clock is £15. I'm quite pleased with myself for working that one out!

    4) Being very naughty and drinking the cider I won on Thursday while watching the rugby - I'll have to buy another bottle to make the cake now. :o

    5) Pizza for dinner tonight, although I might only eat a couple of slices as I'm not really very hungry.

Ooh good, I made five! Have a pleasant evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

    Some more pleasures for today:

    1. Made a yummy pot of minestrone soup for lunch, and there's loads left.
    2. Ditto a pasta bake for tea.
    3. Had a nice drive in the sunshine.
    4. Cups of tea.
    5. A general feeling of OKness.

Hope you're OK, Frith. Thinking of you.

  • Not sure if this counts as an OS pleasure - it's definitely free!

The moon is as close as it will get to the Earth for about 18 years and as a result it's about 30% brighter and around 15% bigger than usual. We've just been out to look and it's gorgeous - especially cos it's been such a lovely day today (in sunny Yorkshire) and so there aren't many clouds

    really lovely - go look!!!!

    Sorry I am a geek....

    My 4 others

    1) Making & eating gorgeous flapjacks with my brother and his boys
    2) Teaching DS to play with an aerobee (takes me back to my childhood!!!)
    3) Reading my lovely new present from my best friend "The Wonderful Weekend Book - Reclaim Life's Simple Pleasures" an OS book if ever there was one
    4) Lovely fresh sheets from the line on the beds - bliss

The rain is watering the spring flowers
Up to date on the washing for the weekend
    Nice clean fresh bedding
Treated ourselves to a takeaway tonight - Sat
Went to town during the day to pick up a pet cage that was a bargain on ebay and it is perfect.
As we were in town we wandered round and found the millets was closing with 70% off half price anyway, so picked up 3 tops for 1.50 and strong insect repellent for 30p
    Feeling relaxed.
Looking forward to a Sunday morning lay in and a read of the free paper which then gets recycled into pet litter tray lining.

    Evening all,

Caterina - sounds like you are seeking a perfect job!!! Hope this one turns out to be so.

My aweful downstairs neighbour who has never said anything nice to me in the 4 years I have lived here came round to tell me that I need to paint under my eaves because the pain was flaking. Hmmm... let me think about that... for a nano second... She still has not realised that I respond much better to people being friendly to me and that I can be exceptionaly bloody minded when I want to be.

    1) Lovely sleep in this morning...

    2) Lovely nap this afternoon... (am thinking about going to the doc about my perpetual lethargy)

    3) Went to my F-SIL's baby shower. I found it really difficult as I really am not in that stage of life at the moment... but the wine helped/

    4) Popping into the mobile library at the end of my road to pick up some new books

    5) Walking 2 miles to the train station.

    Night all

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
