oh! for some reason my pleasures aren't here! Thought I'd posted them before.....I know I did them....short version:
1. Lots of birds singing, warbling, squawking whilst at bus stop this morning.
2. Bought big bottle of white vinegar to clean shower screens.
3. Got my new sewing machine out it's box and made dd1 a gorgeous bag whilst listening to .....
4. DD1 on radio.....co-presenting a show in the city as part of her Media class. She was so anxious about it all & she was a wee star!
5. Lasagne for tea.....no apple crumble for me as it's lent!
Was a more lengthy version before but I'm heading to bed now!
Pouring with rain but still 20o0 -
Hello all, didn't get a chance to post yesterday's goodies and how lovely they were, before now:
1. Bought tickets for DD's dance show and by popping over to the theatre in person, I avoided paying the commission fee
2. Had a great time at Rainbows, DD wrote up a great list of things she's going to give/do for Lent, and they're pinned up at the guide hut, so I'll be able to remind her on a weekly basis that she's promised to help me keep the WHOLE HOUSE tidy!!
3. Was given 2 freebie tickets for opera at a local theatre later in the month
4. Went to DD's parents evening and was so proud of my beautiful girl and all her hard work. Her teacher is lovely and only had good things to say about her progress, yippee!!
4. Lovely sunshine kept me feeling great all day
5. The joy of spending a lovely evening with MrA *swoon*
Today has already been fantastic!
1. Had to ask the theatre if I could change opera tickets for a different opera another night, they were happy as noone else from my company had called for freebies on the Thursday
2. Then the theatre called back and said they'd put another set of tickets for the Saturday night's production in my name
3. Had a fantastic year end review with a huge (by this company's terms) pay rise, woo hoo!! It'll mean that I can keep and remortgage the house next year, yay
4. MrA and DD were very funny at breakfast this morning
5. Had a really great time helping out at French class, the highlight of my week

Hi all
Frith, (((((BIG HUGS))))) to your poor little boy, hope he is not in too much pain!
Tealady, congratulations to your cousin for the birth of her baby!
My pleasures for today:
1 - Cleared the air with DD (yesterday I had a go at her for a variety of reasons). Today, unlike my burst of yesterday, I had the time and calm to explain my viewpoint, she was upset but understood.
2 - Nice breakfast of fried eggs with vege-bacon (I know, it does not sound appetising but it is genuinely delicious!).
3 - Applied for a job that has all I am looking for (very part-time, required all the skills I have, not too far from home, lots of holidays). Wish me luck!
4 - In the end, having something truthful to write on the jobseekers paper, I decided to go sign on today as well - it is too much money to turn down willy-nilly! If they pester me to go and work in McDonalds though, they won't see me for dust!
5 - Found organic butter reduced in Sainsbugs, so bought a few packets and stocked the freezer.
6 - Received personal invite tickets for La Dolce Vita through the post from an Italian olive oil producer who I had contacted to find out about his products.
Have a good night everybody xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Evening,
my pleasures for today and yesterday:
1. Did all the housework yesterday and even did some ironing. It gives me such a mental 'high' when the flat is clean and tidy.
2. Managed a run at a slightly faster,sunstainable pace.
3.Have been re-imbursed for the last of last year's medical bills and have put this money aside to pay for a large bill due in May.
4.Finished my book, very enjoyable (Margaret Rutherford biography).
5.Plan to have an early night.
Frith what a brave boy your son is,hope he's soon on the mend.
Wishing you all a good evening.0 -
Evening all.
Frith - I hope your poor DS' finger heals quickly - that's got to be very ouch indeed!
mhagster - well done to your DD on her presenting stint - it's very brave of her to do that!
My pleasures for the past couple of days:
Yesterday:
1) A lovely, warm, spring-like sort of a day.
2) Went to Chichester with my DM and had a very pleasant wander around in the sunshine.
3) Spotting (if you'll excuse the word in this context) a load of ladybirds in the cathedral gardens - we think they must have been introduced deliberately to eat aphids as there were so many of them in a very small area.
4) A very pleasant restaurant dinner, which would have been considerably more money-saving if I'd remembered to take the voucher I'd printed off the internet.:mad: They very kindly let me take home a doggy bag of LO olives, as there were way too many for me to eat in one go (and my DM doesn't like them so couldn't help).
5) Got home fairly early and spent a very pleasant hour or so sitting on my new sofa, by the light of my new bargain lamp, reading a book and sipping a hot toddy.
Today:
1) Spent most of the day waiting for a delivery so I could sit around lazily at home without feeling guilty.
2) Got my delivery - a new heated clothes drier (which is too expensive to be truly OS but I hope it will cut my heating bills as the radiators will be warming me up rather than drying out clothes) - and it came with a free gift - a big bag of posh cleaning cloths - which I really wasn't expecting.
3) Had a mooch along the beach in the afternoon sunshine, surrounded by various types of gulls which are all starting to get their summer colouring.
4) NSD.
5) Made an Irish stew for dinner, using up a very sorry-for-itself-looking carrot and a ditto potato.
Have a nice evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Here's my pleasures for today:
1. I got some lovely fresh fruit & veg from Mr M for bargain prices.
2. Found a jar of morello cherries in syrup there too and those are in the cupboard. I have been dreaming of the lovely things I can make with them... cherry clafouti, cherry cakes, cherry chocolates, black forest gateau and even a cherry granita from the syrup. Oh, and the jar looks nice & reusable for putting something in again. Win-win.
3. Discovered it's a triple rollover on the lotto tonight, so have splashed out on a ticket. You never know.
4. Had a nice tea at Mum's. Bless her, even though plans changed last minute she was so willing to accommodate. I love my Mum.
5. The sun came out in patches today. When it did though, it was beautiful long golden rays that were so bright as to make you squint.Soon be summertime!
Have a nice evening, everyone!

Sorry been AWAL for a few days but not too knackered tonight. so here goes with some of my good bits
1. Sunshine yesterday and this morning, pity the clouds came rolling in as soon as I put a couple of my heavy wool cardies on to wash.
2. Large approved foods order came yesterday all good and split between dad & self. The Grossman carrott & corriander soup is to die for fortunately I got two bottles and split them down to more useable units.
3. made a lush sweet potato soup with carrots and apples, - missed out the cream and you can't even tell it's not there
4. had a lovely cuddle in bed with bootsie cat this morning.
5. more hairy bikers reciepes in my file from last night.
6. master chief tonight

Fingers crossed for the job hunt Caterina, don't knock McDonald's though!
I teach their staff maths via the internet, McD's offer ALL their staff the chance to get nationally recognised qualifications - including those not eligible for funding. To my knowledge they are the only UK company to do this.
Quite a few of my students are overseas graduates - many of them really love the job and are a dream to deal with. Other times I have the joy of supporting someone who dropped out of school to their first ever qualifications.
My joys:
1 My cleaner came and in just one hour my bathroom and kitchen sparkled.
2 My son did some shopping for me without being asked and got all we needed. This has NEVER happened.
3. Discovering that my weight watching is starting to pay off.
4. Arranging a day out with a friend tomorrow - I work from home mostly and very rarely do this.
5. Unwrapping a new brushed cotton sheet to put on my bed, along with an unwrapped but not on yet duvet cover.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Evening
Caterina - Good luck for the job
Pleasures for today:
1. Must be baby season as one of my friends became a grandmother for the first time in the early hours of this morning. She was grinning from ear to ear when I saw her at work this morning.
2. Washing outside on the line this morning and DD brought it in before the showers started so all dry:T
3. Major baking and cooking session today as we are having a charity baking day at work tomorrow. I have made strawberry cheesecake cupcakes, chocolate and mint cupcakes, bakewell tart, ham, cheese and mushroom muffins plus 12 portions of soup. phew, am now warn out
4. DD has helped by making the chocolate frosting and decorating the cupcakes. Plus helping keep the washing up down and the draining board clear.
5. Chilli and rice for dinner followed by a couple of after eight mints which were surplus from decorating the chocolate and mint cupcakes
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Evening All,
CCP - We spent a lovely Saturday in Portsmouth this weekend. You are very lucky to live in such a nice place. Sunday we intended to go to Southampton, but broke down in Petersfield and had to spend the day there waiting for AA recovery. Luckily, Petersfield is lovely too and had a farmers market, so we enjoyed a few hours wandering around in the sunshine. As DD will be going to Aldershot a few times this year, I think we will invest in annual passes for the museums at the dockyard in Portsmouth even though it is a huge £50 + it will keep DS2 happy!
Recent Pleasures
1. Cleaning the hamster cage. The front room smells so much sweeter!
2. Beef Teriaki for tea. YS in Morrisons.
3. New purple nail polish from Boots. (Used the Boots voucher I found on the pavement in Petersfield on Sunday to buy it, so it was almost free!).
4. Receiving lots of money off vouchers in the post. Bought from EBay with money from my EBay sales. :money:
5. DD in Aldershot for her first England training camp. Missing her, but very proud mummy.
Night Night HE x0
