Hope you're all having a relaxing Sunday.
My pleasures for today and yesterday (working):
1 Walked to work each day.It now feels like a habit that I'll hopefully keep up.
2 Really nice weekend at work and very quiet (we're not complaining).I even got off a bit early today. Now off for two days, blissful.
3 Coming home to a slice of HM sticky ginger cake and a cuppa.
4 I've found a cake recipe (chocolate and almond fudge) for which I already have all the ingredients,so plan to make it tomorrow.:)
5 There were two siskins feeding on the balcony when I got home today!
I'm now off to do some cooking, which will hopefully make space in my tiny freezer, then watch a film (one of my many dvds).
mhagster would you mind sharing your banana bread recipe? Thanks!
mcculloch29 hi and welcome.I also share your view on using 'best':It's quite liberating, isn't it?
sparrer what a scary tap situation, glad you got it sorted out promptly.
Ladyhawk hope you have a great time skiing.0 -
Simple pleasures this week-end but all the more enjoyable for that, and they didn't cost any money.
1. Good session at our park gym yesterday in the sunshine. Managed to persuade a middle-aged casual passer-by who'd never riden a bike of any kind to climb on one of the exercise bikes and have a short go a nd it was delightful to see the pleasure of her face at trying something new.
2. OH, who is definitely NOT a gardener, came out this morning to scarify the lawn of moss, edge the lawn borders and give the lawns their first cut of the season. The garden looks so much neater now and gives me a good base to work from.
3. Delicious roast lunch to reward us for our efforts.
That's enough to be getting on with, I think.0 -
Here's a few more pleasures for today:
1. A friend's DD was being charming and happy when we went to visit our friend.
2. Making chicken & ham pie for tea.
3. The sun has been out today!
4. Catching up with friends.
5. Planning my dream kitchen in my head. Well, we can dream!
Have a nice evening, everyone. Got to put the veggies on now for tea.

Evening all.
mcculloch - welcome to the thread! Thanks for reminding me about pancakes - I also won't have time on Tuesday so I'll have to have some tomorrow instead.
DitaBombita - I love the idea of making your own cider. It's possibly a good thing that I don't have room in my little flat for that sort of thing, though...
sparrer - thank goodness for emergency repair numbers! I hope your broken tap's easy to fix / replace, given that it shouldn't have broken after one day.
Kitchenbunny - darn, I fancy chicken and ham pie now. Could you send me a slice, please?
Mine for today:
1) Managed a decent lie-in, despite the cat yowling to go out, then to come back in again, then to go out again, then to come back in again...
2) Sunshine practically all day, and warm enough that I could open all the doors and windows for a while.
3) Did a bit of lazy tidying up in the garden and found some buds on my tulips, and the first sign of leaves on one of my hostas.
4) The cat seems to have forgiven me for getting rid of his old sofa, and spent most of the afternoon asleep in a patch of sunshine on the new one. He looked so sweet, and so quiet. :rotfl:
5) Easy dinner from the freezer tonight - I fancy dumplings so I've just got to decide if I want them on savoury mince or on venison and mushroom casserole.
Have a lovely evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
1. NSD
2. A lovely friend came for lunch, it was great to catch up with her news and
3. Brought a lovely bottle of red wine which we had a little bit of and I'm slowly sipping my way through
4. DD made a delicious risotto for lunch, with magic as the secret ingredient
5. She also made our friend a birthday cake which was sooooo yummy and beautifully decorated.
Ooooh CCP, dumplings....yummy, think I might have to make a veggie stew tomorrow, even if it's really sunny!0 -
Not a NSD, what a weird guilty sensation, I talked it over with my OH and ordered a top and cardigan I have had my eye on for about 4 months now they are less than half price in the sale, but as I haven’t bought clothes for years it feels strange spending money when I know we are doing our best to try and save.
A needed lay in
Cooked a proper Sunday roast dinner with the trimmings
Left overs for sandwiches tomorrow.
About to relax and play a Wii game0 -
1, Finally having a EMPTY ironing basket & wardrobes full of ironed clothes.
2, Making our dinner (sausage casserole) out of items I already had in, so no spend again for me today.
3, Whilst clearing a cupboard out I came across my 2003 diary...So sat down with a cuppa and had a read... Cannot believe some of the things I used to write about...lol x
4, Sorting out DS wardrobe and instead of giving his old clothes away on freecycle, like I normally do I listed them on a for sale site on facebook and sold them all within 15mins of them going on
5, The greatest pleasure of all.... Snuggling up on the sofa with my DS whilst watching a film..
Hope you have all had a lovely day.... xOctober grocery Challenge

Evening
Pleasures for yesterday and today:
1. Very lazy day yesterday but I did enjoy just slobbing about
2. Received a £15 voucher in the post from a survey site and have nearly enough points to order another one. This one will cover Mil birthday
3. Sausage muffins this morning for brunch, yummy
4. Walked to Windsor today which is 10 miles did get the train back though. It was quite a pleasant walk along the river and then along the long walk upto Windsor Castle. The long walk give you amazing views of the castle. DD got the train and met me there.
5. Bought a shoe rack for DD's room in Lakeland for £10 reduced from £30.
6. Kitchenbunny we also had chicken and ham pie for dinner. Went down well with everyone. Went down too well as there is none left for my lunch tomorrow.
7. Long soak in the bath when got back from Windsor to ease aching muscles.
Hugs to all who need them.0 -
5 for today (Sunday).
1) Lie in.
2) Good tidy up of the living room. Found a Roman coin under the sofa (as you do). :-D
3) Played the piano a bit.
4) My sister popped in.
5) Went swimming with sons and my brother.
6) My school friend came round for tea.0 -
Hope everyone had a trouble-free weekend and the coming week brings lots of lovely OS pleasures
1. Good run down to Henley and joy of joys, managed to get home just as night fell. I don't get any pleasure from night driving these days so I'm always pleased when the lighter evenings come back.
2. Had roast dinner out which only cost £12 inc drinks as DM had a childs portion
3. Browsed round the shops, DM found a top in a sale which she fell in love with. Got back to her flat and found she had an identical one in the wardrobe which she bought last month! Returned the new one, she now has a nice top and £16 in her pocket. She'd never admit it but she's getting a wee bit forgetful
3. Found some lovely Eeyore birthday cards on sale at 3 for £1, so bought 6
4. It was such a beautiful bright day I needed to wear dark glasses while I was driving
5. Wild at Heart
Night night, sleep tight
