Minor declutter in the kitchen.
Relaxing day off today. Not been outside, except to get the mail:o.
Have a good weekend!0 -
'Evening all
1. Beautiful sunny day, a little bit warmer than yesterday, and on my daily 'inspection' of the garden everything is either just coming into bud or bloom. Masses of crocuses have come out to enjoy the fine weather
2. The kitchen is coming on well, another 4/5 days should see it finished. The foreman said it was the most professional he'd seen and was surprised when I said I'd designed it myself
3. Visited DD at her work for a cuppa. Will see her tomorrow as it's DSiL's birthday but it's nice to have her to myself for a little while
4. Kitchen scales battery needs replacing so guestimated the amount of flour for a loaf and it turned out nicely
5. DNeighbour has given up her cosmetics round now she's working almost full time and let me have the pick of what she has left. Came home with a big bag full of bits for me, pressies etc, for only £10.
Night night, sleep tight

Ladyhawk - have a great holiday!
Here are mine from yesterday:
1) A lovely sunny-ish and warm-ish day.
2) Enjoyed sorting through my ginormous wool stash and doing another few rows on my blanket that will be completed for next winter now.
3) DS2 was made 'Beaver of the Week' so he was delighted about that.
4) DH and I made a lovely quiche without referring to a recipe. He did the pastry and I made the filling.
5) Good tv on a friday night - Modern Family, Benidorm and Treme. And crocheting while watching.
We're going to a couple of jumble sales today which I'm very excited about - haven't been to a jumblie for over a year.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Rubbish day yesterday. :-(
I asked (ages ago) a lady from the home school partnership to come out and speak to my sons about anything they are worried about (possibly their father's behaviour towards them/the rest of the world!) I knew it would be awful. It always is, meeting someone nice then watching their face fall as you tell them nasty things :-( So that was yesterday afternoon ruined! She is meeting me again next Friday then will see the boys in school after that over 15 weeks or maybe more.
And MrsN came over as well so I collected my sons from school and didn't come home until after she had gone. Lots of tears from me yesterday, I'm afraid.
Anyway, will try for 5!
1) Went into town and went round the 2nd hand shops. Got a book for smaller son and some trousers for me (from Banana Republic originally, which I'd never heard of).
2) MrN gave me a lift into town and we went to a coffee shop. Although this was just before the lady came out to talk to me so I don't think I was very good company.
3) Met the partnership lady which (grudgingly) might do us good in the long run!
4) Went to my school friend's and had fish and chips and sat in her flat where she put David Attenborough on for sons to watch and we stayed until the coast was clear.
5) MrN came round. :-)
Hoping for a better day today...0 -
Hi Everyone,
Frith - hope today is better than yesterday
Blimus - Thanks!
Just a quick 5 since I won't be around for the next week.
1) I am not sure if this is a pleasure... nore like a relief. You may recall I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was very worried about a friend who lives in Australia. she has been becoming more and more paranoid, convinved that people were laughing at her and following her around. Anyway she texted me this morning to say that she had gone to stay with her mum and that she was under the care of mental health professionals. I am so releaved that she is finally getting some help.
2) I have cleaned the flat thoroughly as I hate come back from holiday to a messy place. Bathroom is sparkling, kitchen is shiney and recycling has been taken outside.
3) Booked my flight to Edinburgh for June when I am doing the Moonwalk. Easyjet are having a sale so it was good to get that out of the way.
4) Sorted my travel insurance... as my E111 card has expired this was rather pressing!
5) All packed and ready to go skiing!!
Have a lovely week everyone!!
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Have a good time, Ladyhawk!
Just wanted to post another pleasure of mine - a very important one!
1. When we move house (eventually) DH has said I can have a cupboard in the spare room to use as a pantry
Whoo hoo!

Had my pleasures for today so anymore is going to be a huge bonus!
1, DS getting upset because he had an hole in his slipper & I done something I would never normally do...... I got my sewing kit out and stitched it up....just this little task has put a huge smile on my face because I have one happy little man again and I have saved myself some money because I would have gone and bought a new pair for him had money not been so tight.
2, Made a mushroom soup and 6 pizzas out of stuff that would have been thrown away had I not used it up today so thats a few more meals for in the freezer!
3, Filled my Biscuit and cake tins up with HM shortbread & fairy cakes I made this morning & managed to make my first ever bread roll mix in the breadmaker
4, Could not decide what to do with DS this afternoon, did not really want to go out so DH is putting a little 1 man tent up in the living room for DS to have a camping day...lol x
5, Sitting down with a nice cuppa whilst dinner is cooking and feeling like I have achieved soooooo much today and not spent a penny!
Hope you all have a lovely day! ... xOctober grocery Challenge

Hi all
Ladyhawk, have a lovely time skiing!
Frith, hope you have a good weekend to make up for your sad day yesterday!
Here are my pleasures for today:
1 - Out shopping with my friend
2 - Hot drink with her after shopping, free, courtesy of vouchers that we were given last week as compensation for a problem we had at the cafe.
3 - Lovely lunch of poached egg on fresh buttered spinach
4 - It is great to have a sparkling clean living room in which to sit and the light coming through the windows which are now very clean too!
5 - Did more (bulk) shopping online and managed to use a voucher for a free bottle of wine (I won't personally benefit but my family will!).
6 - Managed to get a free slot for shopping delivery tomorrow morning early, so no need to hang around at home all day waiting for delivery.
Have a good evening everybody xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Evening all.
Ladyhawk - have a lovely time sliding down mountains!
Frith - hugs to you for your dreadful day yesterday. I hope today's being much better for you.
marmite - how nice to see a siskin. We used to get them in the garden occasionally when I was a kid, but I haven't seen one in years.
Pleasures for today:
1) Mostly sunny again, but still decidedly chilly - I confess I was very naughty mid-afternoon and put the heating on.
2) Bought myself a standard lamp - I've wanted one for ages and, thanks to a tip-off from the MSE email, I got one reduced from £30 to £7. :money:
3) I inadvertantly got a bit lost while collecting the lamp (you'd think after more than 6 years in Portsmouth I could get in the right lanes in the city centre, but apparently not), and managed to find a much quicker route to the tip - I need to go later in the week so that's a really helpful discovery.
4) Pompey FC won again. :j
5) Planning a very naughty dinner of supermarket pizza and a glass or two of wine - well, I am on holiday!
Have a lovely evening, all.Back after a very long break!0
