Evening all, a bit of a pottering day for me as lungs productive and nose sore from nasal specs (oxygen supply needed 24/7).
1. managed to prep tea - savory mince, sweet potato and mixed veg. Hubby cooked it on gas rings.
2. started back garden tidy with Hubby and DD - ome green wheelie full and ready for collection.
3. We did an inventory of upright freezer.
4 comfort lunch of egg on chips naughty but very occasional treat.
5. Recipe weed out and sort going well.
6 hubby promised to finish cd cabinet tommorrow (only been waiting 2 weeks)It matters not if you try and fail, and fail and try again; But it matters much if you try and fail, and fail to try again.

Hugs Wogglemaker, hope your nose feels less sore very soon...
Ladyhawk - so pleased to read your Australian friend has sought help, will keep thinking of her and hope she'll feel like herself again soon.
I'm not sure if I'm going to get to 5 today, it's been a mixed day, I think I'm overtired and stressing a bit about being too lazy to study, I must switch off and do my homework soon!!!
1. Picked up a freebie computer from Freegle this morning (thank you lovely person for giving it to me) for...
2. MrA's son who I met this afternoon! I'm now feeling a bit paranoid that I was nervous and said stupid things, but hopefully he was too teenagerish to notice and just switched offHe certainly did a couple of times when MrA asked him things. He was very polite and appreciative of his computer though
3. It was lovely to sit and have a cup of tea and a natter with MrA, although now I'm paranoid that I'm spending too much time with him and am boring him witless and he's too polite to tell me to burger off and leave him be.
4. DD went to a birthday party where she was initially very wary and upset with all the noise but then chilled out and had a whale of a time.
5. We had scrummy baked potatoes for dinner, naughtily I didn't cook anything else in the oven at the same time, very silly of me as I need to make some cakes tonight.
6. DD was thrilled to have turned the radio on in good time to hear Big Ben at 6pm.
Coo, I've made it to 6, that's good enough. Hopefully I'll not be as tired tomorrow and the pleasures will flow to me like they should to us all.......Have a great evening everyone x0 -
hello, it's Sunday morning, sun has not long risen & birds are giving it laldy in the trees!
I woke up very early yesterday & today.....not sure if my body clock is thinking spring rather than autumn as it's much darker & colder in the mornings....normally I love Spring, it's 'my' season . However, maybe I am just over thinking the situation & I just woke up early! Was too tired to do last nights pleasures ,fell asleep whilst watching DVD of Eat ,Love ,Pray so will have to catch up on that today.
Saturdays:
1. Woke up too early so got up to a freezing house (took me back to when we were first married & had no heating for our first winter.....cold floorboards to painfully walk on!) I had a bath and enjoyed that silent time to myself. (Back home I had a bath every morning, I got up early to enjoy that time to myself and read a book! ) So I do miss my baths but can't have one everyday....as well as not allowed for water restrictions we are metered so probably couldn't afford it!
2. Took advantage of being up early & the time difference to phone another of my best friends back home via skype. Lovely to have a chat & catch up.....we often had 2 hour plus calls weekly back home as well as seeing each other! I think it is my friends & dog that I miss most out here. I don't want to be back home & don't consider myself to be homesick as I am enjoying being here (most days) but if I could import my friends I would!
3. Went for our 'usual' brunch at lovely cafe. It was warm yesterday, a lovely 24o. Nice after being cooler through week, though I have really appreciated that too. So nice & cool during week, warmer at weekends....that would suit me fine!
4. Got photos from DD2's birthday printed , so have sorted out piles for Granny's to get sent off tomorrow with accompanying letters to be done today. Had to buy 'Winter' uniform for big 2, more bloomin' money! They have to wear specific school clothes with school logo on . No picking up a pack of shirts in Asda over here. However, the cooler mornings mean a wee tartan dress & school shorts are not warm enough!
5. We had a pleasant evening. Had a chinese takeway for tea.....huge portions & not too expensive. Then did a bit of tidying in the front garden. I don't get as much pleasure gardening here as I did back home. I am scared of what may be lurking in plants ,under leaves etc . Whereas back home, I enjoyed pottering about & getting my bare hands into the soil....here there is no way I would even go near bare soil!
Hope you all have a lovely weekend,
Mhags x
ps Banana-gate! didn't buy any!0 -
Hope everyone's having a good weeekend
1. DSinL's birthday so we went to a carvery for lunch. Had Eton mess for pud which I had to struggle through, but ate it all
2. Went to an electrical shop and found a television with all the necessary bits and bobs ready for 'the changeover'. First new television I've had for 20+ years
3. Postie brought me notification that my pension is going up. Means my tax will too but nice to know I'll be a couple of £'s a month better of
4. Got home, put the kettle on and couldn't turn the tap off . It was only installed yesterday so not a wear and tear fault. Phoned the emergency repair no and a man came out straight away. After giving me a lesson ion isolation valves he left and I can stay flood free until Monday when they can replace it. So grateful I don't have to pay for these things any more
5. Getting an early night as I'm visiting DM tomorrow, so the usual Mway trek.
Night night, sweet dreams

Ladyhawk - have a great time skiing.
Frith - hope today is better for you.
1. DH being given some eggs - which look lovely an omelette today I think.
2. Repotting my strawberry plants. I bought two plants last year and now have 9 so should have plenty of strawberries in the summer. The plants were reduced last yearand the strawberries that grew last yearwould have cost me more than the plants.
3. Seeing the woodpecker in the fields behind my house for the first time this year.
4. The friendly robin joining me for part of my walk with the dog.
5. Planted some seeds. Veg seeds from freebies and also flower seeds that DFIL gave me.
6. Listed some books on green metropolis. Theses are books that I will reread and if they then haven't sold I will take to the local hospital league of friends. Listing them will make me reread them and not buy any more until I have done so.0 -
will do my Sunday pleasures....in case I fall asleep again!
1.well as I was up bright & early, I caught up on emails and letters.
2.nice sunny day, which I can cope with at weekends, so washing out, dried & ironed....still warm from the sun.
3. Went to a local ,but new to us park for the afternoon. Took low deckchairs I had recovered from a grass verge a few weeks ago. People put their stuff out on verge to be collected by council. It is accepted practise to help yourself! They were most comfy!
4. Lovely afternoon, in the sun, girls fed ducks, had a lovely picnic & just enjoyed the time together.
5. BBQ for tea.....I did ironing & everyone else did dinner!
banana loaf in oven as I type for pack lunches!
Enjoy your Sunday x0 -
Play around on the web eating toast, drinking tea and without having to tear out of the flat to go to work.
Bike up to my allotment for a couple of hours digging in the potato patch. Weather's gray but it's not too cold and I always feel so much better for getting outside. Might drop a bag of couch grass at the tip on the way home and see if I can womble some timber....
Have retrieved an old 3-tier veg rack which I had in the kitchen of my old flat but hadn't room for in this one. It'd been in my lottie shed. I scrubbed it clean yesterday and am planning to mend a couple of areas of chipped plastic coating with electric tape, gluegun 4 caps from tomato puree tubes onto its spiky little feet and drag out the washer and shoehorn it into the dead space formed by the undersink cupboard and the washer which join at right-angles bar a 5 inch gap. It's an underused space and I am planning on keeping some storecupboard items in there. Mending and re-using make me deeply happy.
Potter around at home for a few hours, have a leisurely bath and use the 10p facepack from the c.s.
Go to friends for a meal and an evening of playing riotous board games (if you're wondering how a board game can be riotous<<ahem>> we're all bonkers and highly competitive). Plus we will be on the sauce.;)
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Here's my pleasures for yesterday/this morning:
1. A couple of nice drinkies last night with a film. The headache this morning isn't great, but I did enjoy myself.
2. Made Chinese-style ribs which, while I'd made them too sweet, were utterly delicious on the whole.
3. I've found a new blog and have been reading lots of it.
4. We had a power cut, which gave me the excuse to tell DH I was going to buy a few more candles, some blankets and some more matches - just in case
5. Did a bit more sewing.
Have a good Sunday everyone.

What a lovely thread, I'd love to join you...
1. Using up my Lime, Ginger and Cinnamon body lotion under Pink Rose Candle Philosophy (see my signature for an explanation).
2. Snipping my way with scissors down my "empty" tube of expensive moisturiser and realising that I probably have enough for another week.
3. Zapping a greasy drip dish from my George Foreman grill with good old washing soda crystals.
4. Pancakes today, yum, as I won't have time on Tuesday.
5. Rediscovering clothing by working my way through the ironing - TG for the steam generator iron I got from Amazon Vine a little while ago!
Looking forward to later.
Paul O'Grady on Radio 2.
More rediscovering in the ironing.
Sorting out some carp for the bulk rubbish collection - I've said there will be two extra bags...Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0
