    Here's my pleasures for today:

    1. Managing to reverse the car into a parking space
    2. Managing to reverse the car up the driveway onto the drive passed a parked car and avoiding the bins
    3. Managing to reverse the car halfway into the garage before panicking at how close everything seemed and driving out again. DH had to put it away for me. Bless him, I'm really grateful.
    4. Chorizo & Sausagemeat pasties for tea, plus the 2 left over mean I don't have to make him sandwiches in the morning :D
    5. An NSD. For the first time in ages. :)

    Night all!

    1. Sun, sun, sun!
    2. Watching way too much "Hoarders". Such great trash TV.
    3. Tasty good quesadillas for tea.
    4. Really really enjoyed Yoga class with my friend.
    5. Starting a new cross stitch project.

    1. The kitchen fitters started! I'm camping in the living room for a while but if they carry on at the rate they did today they'll be done by next weekend, and I'll have the kitchen I waited all these years for :D
    2. Free entertainment throughout the day as the 'crew' is so funny, bouncing jokes off each other and themselves
    3. Delicious supper of jacket potato, prawns and some mozzarella which needed to be used up, with tomato salad
    4. Refund cheque for paying too much council tax! :T
    5. An email from the lovely Dutch couple I met on holiday :D

Get well, stay well, be well now! Night night, sweet dreams

Not a good day today (Weds), really. Will try for 5:

    1) Had a bit of a tidy this morning.

    2) Went to mum and dad's for lunch.

    3) Got smaller son some new trainers for school and neither son's feet had grown so they didn't need new school shoes.

    4) MrN came round and has just gone. :-)

Bad things - took bigger son to his first session at Youth Theatre this evening. This is the son who gets lead roles in the school plays, puts on his own performances at school (he goes round the playground telling everyone he will be performing in the gazebo in 5 mins!) and will sing solos with no fear. For the 20 min walk to the theatre, I was called everything under the sun. He didn't want to go, all of a sudden, and everything wrong in the world is my fault. After a quick character assassination, and blaming me for his father leaving etc etc, his piece de resistance was screaming "You're just a decrepid old woman with a crumbling spine and you love a man twice your age". Which is true (about the arthritis) but harsh on MrN who isn't anywhere near 70!

Once at the theatre, he wouldn't go in but sat in the green room for 45 minutes still shouting at me until he had a panic attack. :-(

By the time I got home, I was so exhausted I had to have a lie down. Then MrN came round and his day had been even worse. :-(

    Morning all!

Caterina -what a lovely day, and glad to hear your back is getting better x
Kitty - love hearing your Mr A tales :)
Frith - finger's crossed for a better day today hun x

    My five for yesterday/this morning:

    1. Car arrived, it has no mysterious clunky noises like my old one, and I'm feeling very independent having chosen and paid for it myself!

    2. Busy at work yesterday, so time flew past :) Can't bear it when things are quiet, it so makes the time drag!

    3. Heating kicked in last night, thermostat set v low so must've been cold! Heating is usually off 1st March, but since we had none until the middle of Jan I don't feel too extravagant still having it turned on!

    4. Had a fabulous sleep, was sensible and had dinner and a shower when I got home, after I'd caught up with the kids, and then went to sleep rather than faffing about. Spud didn't dance on my bladder so I didn't wake up either! Feel quite perky now!

    5. dd1 went to school, albeit with a face as black as thunder! Not entirely certain what is up with her, think something has happened at school, but in the way of teenagers she is coming up with all sorts of bizarre statements and reasons (not that they're very reasonable)! The latest excuse for not wanting to go to school is that she thinks she is suffering from anxiety disorder - now whilst I would have sympathy if I believed her, she is fine if it is a day with lessons she really enjoys, or if she has something specific planned! I a very sceptical about her reasons, I think it is teenageritis, and the only cure is time and growing up!

    Morning

    Pleasures for yesterday:
    1. DD had a science GCSE yesterday which she was dreading but came out of it quite positive and feels she has done quite well. We shall have to wait and see.
    2. OH bought me a lightweight waterproof jacket for walking in and it had a 30% discount
    3. Had the last of the HM bean and Chirizo soup for lunch and the guys in the office finished off the last of the HM savoury muffins
    4. Not OS but had dinner out as a family last night. It was nice just to spend some quality time together and wasn't too expensive
    5. Picked up a free bottle of innocent orange juice :money:in waitrose and also managed to get a large cooked chicken for £1.99. Thats sandwiches sorted for the rest of the week and a dinner plus probably some soup.

Hugs to all who need them

Caterina - It sounds like you had a fab day. I love it when you can treat yourself so much but spend very little.

Hi! Another good day here, I really think this cooler weather has improved my emotional/mental well being! Feeling very positive & less of a moan!

    1. My dd2 is 11 today, everyone gathered on our bed to see gifts being opened ( all bought in sales!). DS there in body if not in mind! Too early for him! OH took them all to school as a birthday treat!

    2. I made more cupcakes & another banana loaf, mushed up loads & have frozen them. Made 2 lasagnes....enjoyed just pottering around kitchen. Washed & ironed & put away!

3.Took bus into our town, bought some cream & more eggs (have went through 28 already since Saturday!) then went to library & indulged in Casualty! Bus home, finished book I was reading & prepared food for birthday tea.

    4. Nice birthday tea, nicely interupted by one of my best friends phoning to wish DD2 a Happy Birthday.

    5. DD1's new friend came too & her mum came in to collect her, had a lovely chat with her.....I'm now off to have a meringue & cream.....missed out on them earlier when friend phoned!

Enjoy your day...almost Friday again for us!

    ETA: most yummy meringue!

    Hiya everyone

This is the first time I have posted on here.

I am resisting temptation to spend as we speak.

Reason being I got my lovely newbie boyfriend to paint my hall for me. Its his job so I am paying him. I thought I had extra money as I had a letter from the mortgage company last month to say my mortgage payment would be halved from this month. So I thought I would be able to afford it.

However that old sods law thing has reared its head. It turns out after a long phone call to my mortgage company on Tuesday that my mortgage has only been reduced by £27 and not £250 as previously thought. The payment figure they sent out was for one portion of my mortgage not the whole payment.

So I hadnt the heart to tell my man because I knew he would probably just say dont bother paying me or dont worry about it but he's been struggling too so I want to pay him. So he's painting merrily away this morning and I haven't said a word. I have very little money left now for the rest of the month and we are only on the 3rd March. So I will be a regular visitor to the old style forums this month trying to live on fresh air. I should explain that I am on a dmp and so have no access to credit cards or any type of credit.

Still I want to look on this as a challenge not something to daunt me or overcome me. Just wish I could tell him instead of keeping it from him but you can see why. The old male pride would just come into play.

    Hugs xxx

    Hi all

Mummysaver and Tealady, yes thank you it was a great day, and so cheap compared to all I got for it! I love these Out To Town days! It is great that in London you can have so many cheap or even free treats at the department stores, and the mags have so many offers that it is always worth subscribing (with the cheapest offer possible and going via Quidco of course!).

Bestrong, welcome to the thread! Sorry to hear about your mortgage woe, but I am sure that in the long term, with the OS skills that you already have and others that you can pick up here, you will manage and eventually get on the other side of debt, like so many on this forum. Keep up the good work and always remember that here you will find a kind, supportive community of people who understand exactly what you are going through. So don't ever hesitate to share your burdens if you feel you need to.

Lazy day for me today, still in a nightie (although I have already cleaned the downstairs of the house) now got to do the bedroom then have a shower and look presentable in the afternoon (at least!).

See you all later for pleasures x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Thank you Caterina for your lovely reply. I feel much better already!!

Well done on your os day out in London. I will be following this os section with much interest to pick up as many top tips as I can to make my pennies stretch. Lets drink to uncharted coping strategies and kind words of encouragement (I know its early but..):):):)
