    Evening all,

hope you are all having a great day!

It's been a long one for me... up at 5.45am! My day didn't off to the best of the starts... I decided to wear my short black dress to work today... and once I got it on I realised the hem had come down. I thought I would use some liquid thread, but that went straight through the material... So I decided to wear my grey shift dress with a white shirt. So I ironed the shirt and as I did the last bit I found a large hole in the sleeve. I have no idea how the hole got there as it is a very strange hole. I'm not quite sure how to explain itexcept that it is about the size of a 50p coin and it look like all the threads going in one direction have frayed but the ones going in the other direction are fine... odd! I then had to iron a second shirt! Luckily the rest of the day went much better.

    1) The event went really well. It was the launch of a major new innitiative at work and I was project lead on it and not one person said anything negative the whole day!!! My bosses boss, several of the HR directors, the CFO and Chief Exec were there so it was a major feather in my cap.

    2) We raised over £500 for our charity partner... the fabulous Haven breast cancer charity who does amazing work supporting women and their families who are going through the hell that is breast cancer.

    3) NSD

    4) One of the raffle prizes was a large fruit basket and the lady who won it couldn't carry it so gave it to me because I had my car. Woohoo!! Fruit!!!

    5) shifted some cash about and have made some good financial decisions.

Righteo... this little girly needs to go to bed as tomorrow is another early day and I can't cope with anything leass than 9 hours sleep! (can you tell I don't have kids???)

    Nighty night

Wow, well done Ladyhawk, sounds like your day just got better and better :)

MHagster - congrats to your DDs on being little superstars at school :)

Caterina - as a fellow bad back girl, I empathise with your aches and hope that it goes very quickly, hope you're doing the hot/cold packs for it. ((( )))

Everyone else - Hello and happy Monday night :)

    1. NSD - woo hoo, I'm on a roll
    2. Payday, and realise I'm nearly half way through paying my parents back for their car loan, am going to be seriously skint this month :( have cancelled a planned night out later this week and am hoping for lots of cosy nights in with MrA to help me save money (well, that's the excuse anyway ;) )
    3. Woohoo, Quidco is paying me £5.23 this week!
    4. A lovely freecycler gave me a music stand so DD and I can play our various instruments with slightly less risk of cricking our necks with music in bad places.
    5. Have just renewed my BT broadband account for a year, apparently saving myself £3/month, hoorah! Every penny counts this month that's for sure.
    6. Lovely Frith has had a great weekend with lovely MrN, I'm sooooo pleased for her :):)

    Welcome all the newbies
Mhags I hope we get to Mull too, we're in Oban for 9 days with only 3 days commitment and plan to sightsee on the other days. Quite exciting as I'm going to meet the lady who introduced me, online, to the fellowship 7 years ago :D
    Caterina get well Now!
Ladyhawk well done on the event, and for raising such a healthy sum for the breast cancer charity.

Thanks to everyone for their comments, it's obvious I'm not the worlds best photographer and the camera looks like the prototypre digital so was pleased you could see them.

    1. The gas bill arrived, for which I owe just over £5 and I certainly haven't skimped on it due to the early winter snow. The elec bill was in the same envelope, they owe me just over £95! Am amazed as it's for 6 months inc the heavy quarter :j. I was thinking I should look into changing companies but think I'll leave it for now.

    2. Phoned the HA about having a lady lodger (just putting feelers out for now) they're quite happy for me to do so. Phoned the council who told me I can work out on their online page how much extra I'd have to pay, I'd be under £100 a month better off after expenses so will have to think seriously about that, make my list of pros and cons.

    3. Too wet to do anything outside so gave the bathroom a thorough clean. I don't want to use it now!

    4. Got a mail to say I've 'won' a bottle of moisturiser, a brand I've had before and liked a lot so am really pleased

    5. Realised it's 4 weeks tomorrow since I went to the nail salon, what good value that treat to myself has been. Time to go back now and have the extensions removed but I'm looking forward to the next time there's a big event so I can have them again :D

    Night night, sleep tight

    Evening everyone!
I seem to be busier than ever since I packed in work :D A few quick pleasures from the past few days:-

    1) Getting organised getting quotes for new CH boiler. Not that I want to have to spend the money, but it's an essential. I've one more quote to get - have tried a few companies, and think I've got a good deal lined up :j
    2) Lovely to have the time to do my crafting - always felt too tired when I was working, to be bothered
    3) Puddy tat a constant source of fun and pleasure - and got a clean bill of health today when she went in for her booster injection
    4) Lovely day out planned tomorrow with a friend, and another friend is coming over with her 10 week old little baby boy on Friday.
    5) Joy of spring almost having arrived - love seeing the early spring flowers, and the forsythia is in bloom :j

Loved your photos sparrer - glad you had a good holiday! Hope those under the weather soon feel lots better,

    Pam x

    5 for today (Monday).

    1) Looked after MrN's son 5 (teacher training day) and that went well.

    2) Went to Sainsburys which was needed desparately so feel a bit more organised now there is food in the house.

    3) Went swimming with SS 5 and my brother.

    4) Went to see how brother is getting on with his barn conversion.

    5) Had a ton of logs delivered and had quite a sense of achievement after I had wheelbarrowed them all round the back of the house and stacked them up. Took 1.5 hours.

    6) MrN called round and has not long gone. :-)

Bit cooler today, had jeans, long sleeved top AND a cardigan on to walk dd2 to school this morning, was 18o at highest but there was wind chill factor of 8o down in Docklands. So quite a bit cooler though I am quite happy to stick a cardi on! To be warm again by weekend!

    1. Have had quite a relaxed day (as in didn't do much!), took dd2 to school, saw a flock of parrots as we walked, sun was out on way back home & had to take my cardigan off!

2.Made another banana loaf & then munched on too much whilst it was still warm :(
Made tablet but it didn't set properly so had to re-boil it, not perfect but edible!

3.Mooched around, did a bit of ironing, bit of hoovering, bit of watching TV.

4.Spag bol for tea with an extra batch of sauce made to make a lasagne with tomorrow.

5.Just had a lovely big bun.....do did not really need it but it was a pleasure!

DD2 came home from school & told me she will be expected to take cake in to school on Thursday (her birthday) so in between everything else I have to do for tea & party....need to produce cake for 26!

    Hi all

Just popping in to say thank you for all your well wishing re. my back. Better today, still could not climb a mountain or run a marathon but I am much more mobile, so at least I can do a bit of housework (I hate being stuck indoors unable to do anything!). Dry day even if gray skies so laundry to hang the garden and tidied bedroom (but not cleaned, as hoover is fairly heavy and I do not want to chance it).

Already a couple of pleasures for today:

1 - My friend came to visit before work (she has a client just around the corner from me) and we had breakfast together.

2 - Sitting here peacefully with a cup of creamy decaff coffee, it is really peaceful and my mood is much better (not being in pain helps the mood A LOT!).

Will be back for more pleasures later, have a good day everybody x

And here I am to add as promised:

3 - Managed, at long last, to remember to wash the bathroom shower curtain, so it is nice and fresh now.

4 - Rest of the laundry hanging in the garden, thankfully still not raining so I shall give it another while and get it back indoors before dark to finish off on clothes horse (but at least it has got a great long airing!).

5 - Trip to Waitrose to get a cheese that DS loves, luckily still on special offer. We had it for lunch.

6 - Hobbs still doing the tops deals accepting the £25 card from Red mag, so I bought another mag and got a nice top for DD, total spend £13.60 (inc mag). She loves it!

    Good night all x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Afternoon :)

    Here's some pleasures for today:

    1. Saw a kite circling above Mum & Dad's house - beautiful! Apparently the sparrowhawk was in the garden too, but I missed it by about a minute..
    2. Had a team building session at work and it was surprisingly therapeutic.
    3. Being sat down at 3:30pm.
    4. Pretty much sticking to my shopping list - go me!
    5. Not having had a cup of coffee all day (so far!)

Well, hope everyone has a good day. Take care (((hugs)))

  • Good evening everyone. Caterina, i do hope your back feels better soon. I know how you feel as i too have trouble, am having accupuncture for mine at the moment.
    My five for today are
    1. Getting in the shower before everyone was up, i'm always the last usually.
    2. Having an easy day at work.
    3. Having a chat with my Dad about making soup!!
    4. What i thought was chicken in gravy from the freezer for tea, was infact beef in gravy. That was a bonus as we don't have beef very often.
    5. Dd gave me a bottle of perfume that she got for Xmas, she didn't like it.
Hope you all have a lovely evening
