Hi all
Finding it hard to find pleasures today as I am feeling a bit down, backachey and not concluded much (spent most of the day online muckin'about).
But here it is, my effort to find at least 5:
1 - Backache = good excuse for not doing any housework
2 - Visit to the osteopath, not the most dazzling of pleasures but he is very nice, treated my back and gave me exercises to relieve the pain.
3 - Nice lunch with DS.
4 - Feeling fortunate that I do not have to work at the moment so can take time off duties without dire consequences
5 - Already 5pm so DH will be back here soon from work.
6 - Had to add this: in spite of backache and not feeling too sprightly, I am still very grateful for my general state of health, my family and my situation. It could be infinitely worse and I give thanks for all I have, no matter how despondent I might feel.
Hope you are all having a good day, I am off to potter in the kitchen now xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Caterina - hope you feel a bit better soon (hugs)
Here's my pleasures for today:
1. Last night's roast chicken. I got it from the butchers rather than the supermarket and, while it was certainly a lot more expensive, it was amazingly good. I'm a convert. At any rate, DH and I were stuffed on a full roast dinner, and there's still a good mountain of meat to eat, and I've snaffled the bones for making some stock!
2. A quick and easy tea tonight thanks to the above bird. Chicken salad.
3. I had a walk in the rain today. It reminded me I used to like walking in the rain (cue introspective moment) and I've decided I still do.Got to love puddles!
4. I got my subscription magazine and it had a freebie Clinique mascara on it. Soooo glad it wasn't a lipgloss as I'm up to my eyebrows in the stuff! (not literally, I hasten to add)
5. Found a good buy 2 for £1 on tinned mango at Mr M. I'm going to have a go at making some orange and mango smoothie pops for the freezer, or maybe a sorbet to store away for the summer.
I feel tired but OK, today. There's so much chicken left I'm sure I can make it stretch to 8 or 9 meals at this rate. I'm determined to stick to my Grocery Challenge for March too - feel like I've turned over a new leaf - and have written out my shopping list. I'll stick to it too, if I can. I think I'll go and make some rock buns for the cake tin. I just feel like baking...
Have a lovely evening, everyone.

Evening all.
Caterina - I hope your back feels better NOW!
Frith - I'm so glad you had a nice weekend.
sparrer - thanks very much for the pics. I haven't yet had a chance to look at all of them but I intend to. Of the ones I've seen I love the photos of the elephants - it really made me realise what big animals they are!
My pleasures for yesterday (as I ran out of time to post before going out last night):
1) Once again, woke up to sun coming through the curtains.(Although, also like Saturday, it rapidly vanished behind big black clouds and torrential rain / hail.
)
2) Changed the bed so I had nice clean sheets to sleep on.
3) Counted the coins in my puddy bank (like a piggy bank but cat-shaped (well, Bagpuss-shaped, actually)), and there's easily enough to cover the cost of getting my rear windscreen wiper replaced.
4) Made some HM baked beans and they were really tasty, if a bit hot as I was a touch heavy-handed with the chilli.
5) Seeing a fox on a neighbour's lawn on the way back from the pub. I know they're a nuisance to a lot of people but I've always had a great fondness for them. (Foxes, that is, not pubs. Although on second thoughts...)
And for today:
1) My friendly local garage has promised to order in a replacement windscreen wiper asap, and will fit it for me as soon as it arrives.
2) Got a couple of free bananas as they were being handed out in town in honour of fairtrade fortnight.
3) LO baked beans for lunch - luckily a night in the fridge had toned down the chilli a bit!
4) Did a bit of a re-jig of my mealplan and treated myself to an M&S £10 meal for tonight. There wasn't much choice left - it was pretty much chicken and chips or mushroom risotto - but I like chicken and chips so that's fine. (I like mushroom risotto, too, but refuse to buy it when it's so easy to make.)
5) And the meal deal means I get pudding, too - berry cobbler with clotted cream which has been lurking in the freezer since last summer (so that helps on the freezer-emptying campaign, too).
Have a pleasant evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Hello all, busy weekend & not very OS (Lots of pub visits) so not been on here for a while -
Mine for today
1. Meeting work colleague who is on maternity at the farm shop cafe in my lunch
2. Amazing Ploughmans at farmshop
3. Good day at work with a stressful event over (one more Friday)
4. Reserving a books at library (Simon Armitage & the Mozzipedia) saved me £20 buying on amazon
5. Arranging visit from my Sister in July en route to a gig shes off to in Milton Keynes
additional one - watching OH's glee with his new knife sharpener and our kitchen knives (easily pleased)0 -
oh free bananas!
It's now Tuesday 1st March here, officially the start of Autumn......so we will see what Autumn means in Melbourne!
Mondays pleasures:
1. Kids got run half way to school with us & picked up half way home (in pouring rain) by a friend's parent, so they were happy. It's a good half hour ,hilly walk for them ,so any helps a bonus!
2. OH & I went to dd2 school to see her being presented with a badge at school. She was chosen (by her peer group) to have a position of repsonsibilty within school, having at that time, only been there 4 weeks. It was a nice assembly with a tea afterwards. We are very proud of her!
3. I came home & pottered about, not too much tidying as we were still tidy from having a visitor. I hung a washing out & then it poured with rain!
4. Back out to see DD2 's teacher for Parent's Meeting. Was a very different experience to back home but she has settled in fine.
5. Had a very simple tea of scrambled eggs on toast. Using up yolks from making meringues at weeeknd. Had a bath & PJ's on early!
Enjoy your evening x0 -
Evening

CCP - ooh clotted cream, yum
Caterina - Get better NOW
Pleasures for the last couple of days:
1. Dinner out on Friday with OH paid for by boss in thanks of a project completed before christmas. Went to a local swanky restaurant which was very nice but glad I wasn't paying. I got to wear my new shoes as well
2. DD home safely on Saturday with no stresses about the journey. She had a great time.
3. Shopping on budget and lots of store cupboard ingredients stocked up on.
4. Went on a training walk with the girls but only managed 6 miles instead of the 10 we were supposed to be doing but we were wet and cold plus the lure of a bacon sandwich finished us off.
5. Lovely soak in the bath when got home to warm up and got to read some of my book
Todays pleasures
1. Chocolate cup cakes made this morning which turned out nice.
2. Huge pile of ironing done before work so ironing basket looks a bit more in control.
3. Also managed to clean the inside of the landing window this morning. It was shocking  but now sparkling
4. Walked to work, didn't have much choice as due to the road works the bus stop was closed but after a mad morning it was nice just to walk and chill before getting into the office
5. Tonight made a cheats chicken curry for dinner which was nice. Also made some ham and mushroom muffins from the hummingbird bakery book. I really wasn't sure about them as the mix looked like something you would cement the walls with  but they have turned out quite nice.
Hugs to all who need them0
