I'm watching the rugby, cheering on Italy, it started well but not quite so good now.

    1. Saw deer on the road, about 8, of them, coming out of a wood and then walking down the road before jumping over a fence into a field.

    2. Lovely onepot spicy beef for tea, tasty and economical as made with mince.

    3. Took bags of books to the charity hop and managed to park outside which was great.

    4. Walked through a local park and saw the playground full of children and people feeding ducks and being on bikes. Lovely too see.

Italy may have scored another try - gone to video ref for 2nd time in match. Been given and conversion has been missed so only 5 points difference.

    5. DS1 came home for weekend.

Hi all, here's mine some not so OS....:-

    1. The weekend!
    2. Having food left even when paid and sainsbug delivery arrived
    3. M&S chinese meal box - not whoopsied - not reduced - but tasted really seriously good!! and cheaper than going to the local chinese restaurant.
    4. Others at work admiring my hm focaccia - thanks to the Dough book.
    5. Clearing out the unused or little used stuff in my kitchen cupboards and realising it's better with less and I may clear some of it out too - anyone want a plastic salad spinner - used twice??
    6. OH being told his blood pressure is at the high end of normal - and due to OS cooking, being able to pinpoint the salt in our diet and working out ways of cutting down easily (that'll be bacon, sausages, bought bread and stock cubes then :o).
    7. Having a charity bag ready to go - half filled with clothes - and knowing someone else will benefit from my unwanted stuff ..... and possibly a plastic salad spinner!!:rotfl:

Mummysaver big congrats on your exciting news!
Tealady the shoes are to die for! My first Saturday job was in the shoe dept of a store, I caught the bug then and seldom got to take home a full wage packet ;). As my 14 y/o DGD2 says, 'a girl can't have too many shoes can she, Grandma?' and how right she is!

Having trouble loading photo's, went to a friend who put them on but wrong programme, she put them on my facebook page! I'm now trying to put them on FlickR but have to do all the captions again. Patience was never my strongest virtue but I'm getting there.

    1. Have chosen the paint for the 'new' kitchen, 3 walls buttermilk and a feature wall similat to, but darker than air Force blue. It was on bogof so spent much less than I'd estimated.
    2. Bought the Bosch lawnmower DM sent me a cheque for at Christmas, reduced in H/base, so bought two hyacynths, one for me, one for DD, also on bogof!. Lots of savings and nectar points today :)
    3. DGD2 stayed overnight and as always during her visits we had ice cream - on bogof so a tub each :o
    4. Took down and washed the huge lilac dining area curtains, which came up like new, so will put them on freecycle.
    5. Mw'd a big bowl of pasta and basic sauce to add 'bits' to and freeze in portions for mw meals when the kitchen is being done. The cooker can stay in situ for a while but I seldom use it anyway, with a steamer, sc and mw to hand.

Now going to watch CDWM and catch up on one or two programmes I've missed. Have a good evening

PS. Tealady - I walk past a whole shop window full of Irregular Choice shoes every morning on my way to work... thankfully it's closed on my way to work and I never pause if I walk past at lunch time when it's open but I can often be found in the morning staring, daydreaming and picking out shoes I can't afford!! I was tempted by boots in the sale... reduced to £200!! cough splutter - but managed to resist!

I showed my sister the shop and she said they are just "art".

    Another one!

I bulk bought chickpeas, lentils, basmati rice from the asian supermarket, so decanted them into marks and spencers brownie tubs - they keep them for me in work. And labelled them all - and put the remains into storage. They hold a heck of a lot actually. Very satisfying!

  • Congrats to mummysaver :D

    1) Had a lovely day yesterday at a meet up with some mums and children but think I caught some lurgy from one of the children and so today has been a very relaxing 'me' day because I felt quite yuck. So that's number one - I didn't feel bad about doing absolutely nothing today!
    2) A NSD
    3) DS1's friend is round at the moment and then he's staying at his friends house tonight AND tomorrow night.
    4) On a whim I picked up a learn Turkish CD and book from the library. Had a listen and read of that this afternoon and I'm quite enjoying it!
    5) Spent time crocheting a cute amigurumi hedgehog as I watched things on 4od on the PC.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Hugs to those who need them.

    Evening all.

I'm sorry this is a bit brief tonight but I've spent the past hour or so dismantling my old sofa and my hands are a bit stiff and sore now. :(

    1) Woke up this morning to sun coming through the curtains. :D

    2) Managed to wash the car before the sun vanished behind big black clouds and was replaced by thunder and a blizzard of hail. (The downside of this burst of automotive cleanliness was lifting up the rear windscreen wiper to wash behind it, and the whole wiper snapping off in my hand. It's a good thing I get paid on Monday!)

    3) Made further inroads into my over-crowded freezer by defrosting the last of my HG tomatoes to make soup...

    4) ... and the last of the cider cake to eat while listening to the football on the radio...

    5) ... which Pompey won. :j

    6) Had a lovely chat with a nice lady at Lakeland (surely the nicest company in the world to deal with): my first request for advice, on a product which I own and can't get clean, was met with "oh, it's obviously faulty, I'll get a new one in the post to you", my second, for advice on a product I'm thinking of buying, with "I've got one of those and it's brilliant". Dear old Lakeland! :D

    7) Managed to dismantle my old sofa all by myself, despite 'help' from the cat.

    8) I've made a large batch of kitchenbunny's venison casserole for dinner, and woo-ee it's good!

    9) I've just realised - it's been an NSD.

    Have a lovely evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

    Evening,

Hope you are all well. I'm feeling a little sad today. I think it is partly to do with a sad book that I just finished. I haven't had any energy today and have a bit of a sore tummy... hope it's not appendicitis!

    1) Though my book was sad - I did enjoy it.

    2) Chatting to my friend L on blackberry messenger who did cheer me up a little. She is always so supportive.

    3) I am going to have a large glass of baileys after supper

    4) NSD - I'm not counting them but always feel pleased with myself when I rack them up

    5) My gorgeous kitty cuddling up to me... it's like he knows that I am not feeling myself today.

Night everyone... hope you have a lovely evenigng.

    L

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Another soggy day - where is all this rain coming from ?

    1. Swapping my books at the library. Borrowing t more than I'll have time to read but as one of the criteria for keeping libraries open is judging them by the number of items borrowed, I'm determined to do my bit!
    2. Using up more soft fruit from the freezer by compoting it and mixing it into fruit jelly. This keeps for several days in the fridge and makes an easy dessert.
    3. Taking advantantage of a short break in the rain to put several of my over-wintered endive seedlings growing in a covered patio container into individual pots to produce some early 'cut and come again' salad leaves over the next few weeks.
    4. Deciding to turn a shirt collar for the first time to rescue one of my OH's favourite shirts. It's now turned and tacked into position and tomorrow I'll get my sewing machine out and finish it off. Considering it was a new charity shop shirt bought for £3 ages ago, it feels good to beat the system once again and give it another lease of life.
    5. Second frog appeared in our mini pond today and they're mating, so looks like we'll have at least one batch of frogspawn soon.
