mummysaver:I loved the lakeland catalogue! We have lots of lovely homeware/kitchen shops out here & I just love having a wander......I just look & don't buy (though do have a weakness for pretty cake cases!)

Well I've had a fairly eventful day:
1.Went to work with my husband. Kids had the pleasure of NOT walking to school, they got dropped off!

2.I had the non pleasure of cleaning fridge/freezer brought into OH's work by a colleague for us,to go in garage. It turns out it was in quite a state! I was retching at smell this morning(and this apparently was better than it had been!) Got over that & got stuck in & it's clean & fresh(er) smelling!

    3. Got dropped of at station & got train to city, grabbed a lunch & sat on steps in a central meeting place & watched the world go by, in the warm sun.....it was lovely! My first time in city on my own and I sat & people watched. Train home & just caught the bus home by skin of teeth!

4.I woke up early this morning and phoned my big sister. Trying to catch each other because of time difference & her working pattern is difficult. So it really made me so happy to just have a chat with her. We used to chat every couple of days back home.

5.Continuing to think of those in NZ that have been affected by earthquake.

6.Just had nice chat with in-laws on phone. They really miss the kids & they miss their grandparents so nice to catch up with them.

Enjoy your day, can't believe it's almost Friday again!

  • Welcome back sparrer

'eres mine for the last 2 days.

    Wednesday
    1. not much sleep but have quite a bit of get up and go.

    2. used some of my dwindling supply of industrial oven cleaner (got from local resource center when a scout leader) and cleaned S/S oven trays, Roasters, .

    3. ran out of steam after making a fairly good fist of cleaning the fan oven, so hubby tided up for me.

    4. A lovely hour spent grooming and cuddling bootsie cat, who even wanted her tummy grooming so lay on her back with all four legs a kimbo, she looked so soppy.

    5. First round of master chief on telly

    Today

    1. a fairly decent nights sleep apart from three loo runs. But lungs have decided to show me who is boss and play me up today along with general knackeredness.

    2 Lovely sunshine outside today.

    3. Chinese nibble type tea for hubby, ds and dd (bits from freezer). My contribution to bits clearing is turkey mini fillets cabbage and gravy.

    4. Lovely big Approved foods order came today. All there, packaged great, and only one little hiccup on my part - thought I'de removed the 1/2 gallon teabags, but didn't.

    5. next master chief on tonight

huggs to all who need it

Trying to catch up - the days pass too quickly.

    1. Learning that friend who is on extended holiday to New Zealand is safe and well away from earthquake area.
    2. The garden really coming alive now with purple heather, crocus and snowdrops and green shoots starting to appear in some of the hedges and shrubs.
    3. Spent a sunny day in the garden today mending the compost heap after rats had gnawed their way through the wire cage.
    4. First frog out of hibernation has appeared in our little pond, together with three newts.
    5. Pleasant community lunch yesterday.
    6. First tiny pepper and chilli seedlings peeking through the compost. The seeds were so slow in germinating this year I was beginning to think they had rotted.

All quiet, as everyone is out except me, the dog and the cat. :)

    1. Sitting on the sofa next to dog and cat. All content in each others company.

    2. Sunshine.

    3. Washing drying on the line.

    4. Long dog walk in the park. We discovered a path into a woodland area as we were trying to avoid the busiest parts of the park. (Doggie is huge and soppy but her size frightens small children, so I try to avoid the family areas!). We had the wood to ourselves. It was really pretty in the afternoon sun. An unexpected pleasure in the middle of Birmingham! (Doggie has just sighed her agreement!).

    5. Got some sewing done this morning. I love sewing, but tend to put it lower down any list of jobs as I feel guilty doing something I like doing when there are more important chores to be done. :o So me and DH have trousers the right length and DS1 and DS2 have trousers repaired. :j
Catarina I got a stripey top from Hobbs too. It feels lovely to wear and will look nice with the trousers I altered today! Glad you are feeling better.

Ooops! Time to collect DS2 from the BMX park. Bye Bye peace and quiet!:rotfl:

    Hugs to all HE x

    Hi everyone,

Wogglemaker - sorry to hear that your lungs were playing up today. Lucky you having such a lovely hustand to look after you.

CCP - hope you are enjoying your new book - which one is it?

Marmite - Well done on the walking to work. hope those kg's yuo are trying to shify skedaddle soon!

Blimus - £1300 for a mattrass!! EEK!! Glad you got a discount on the one that your mum wanted

Caterina - sorry you were feeling grotty yesterday - glad you made it out to the cinema and dinner

DestroyerofDebt - sounds like you had a great time with your best mate and even better that you didn't spend lots of cash while you were at it

Frith - things sound like they are going a bit better with MrN since your chat. Its good to hear. You sound happy.

Villagelife - hope you enjoyed your lie in. What cakes did you bake?

Kittikins - Sounds like you have struck it lucky with MrA. (Does he work for the other Mr A???)

Mummysaver - welcome back. How far along are you? Glad you managed to not feel woozy yesterday

Ampersand - when are you off to France? M's cake sounds yummy!

MHags - ewww.... the fridge sounds icky! Sounds like you had a nice afternoon to make up for it

Primrose - the garden sounds lovely - how nice to have the wildlife return

House Elf - sounds like you had a lovely walk with the hound

    So my day...

I didn't get the lie in that I hoped for - I woke up an hour before my alarm. Oh well. Car is still not fixed. The problem is that the fault is intermittent and only happens when the engine is cold which is a tad annoying. I had told them that they can keep it over night next week to see if they can fix it.

So I need to focus on positives for today...:j

    1) NSD

    2) Worked on my laptop while I was waiting at the garage. then worked from home. I got absolutely masses done and have reduced my inbox to about 20 which is unheard of :):T.

    3) Wrote a presentation for one of our divisional directors. She was absolutely delighted with it. Its good to make friends with people in high places!

    4) Got some washing done and will have a tidy up a little later.

    5) Havig kitty curled up next to me on the sofa while I was working. He was snoring ever so slightly which was adorable. His brother used to snore like a rusty motor.

    Night all

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Teehee Ladyhawk, no my MrA doesn't work at all, he's a gentleman of leisure/disabled/layabout/take your pick. It works perfectly for me though as one of my pleasures today was....

    1. Popping in for a quick cup of tea and a cuddle on my way to pick up DD :):):) and making tentative plans for the weekend :)
    2. My lovely friend looked after DD for me all day so I could get to work and do lots of busy, boring stuff
    3. The surprise and pleasure on said friend's face when I gave her a bottle of wine to say thank you - the least I could do. Shame the sun wasn't over the yardarm.....
    4. The sun shining :)
    5. Saw lots of crocuses (crocii?) and other buds/flowers which made me feel even happier. I love spring :)
    6. DD has run her own bath, when can I get her doing the ironing and chimney sweeping, lol.....
    7. Feeling more energetic today than I have all week, not sure if its the weather or the fact its nearly the weekend, but very much appreciated!
    8. Used my lunch break very creatively at work and put together a St David's day quiz for my Rainbows this week. Thank heavens for the internet!! :)
  • Hugs and spoons to all!
    1. LO for lunch and rice crispie cake for snack at work.
    2. Friend handed me the job pages as i got on the bus... bless him he never forgets!

  • Whee! Here's my pleasures for today (I'm a little bit hyper ;) )

    1. A bit of dark chocolate at the end of a busy day. Whee!
    2. Made a lovely cottage pie for tea, complete with grated carrot and some oats. DH loved it. :D
    3. I got a potato ricer from Mr M for a fiver :D Tested it tonight and it was lovely - made the smoothest mash I've ever had.
    4. A nice hot bath, coconut shower gel and coconut moisturiser.
    5. I found a lovely long chorizo in Mr M for £2 which will make several lovely meals. :)

That pretty much sums up my day. It started really early, as DH wanted to leave before me. At any rate I left before him, and popped to see Mum at just after 7am! Needless to say I've had a couple of cups of coffee today and was feeling really tired until I had the chocolate. Now, I'm hyper!

    Boing!

    Have a lovely evening, everyone!

  • Evening,

A day off today.Woke up to snow,it had snowed overnight and continued throughout the morning, but by mid-afternoon it had mostly gone.

    My pleasures for today:

    1. Some more decluttering in the flat, then lugged all items up to the charity shop. The flat definitely looks less cluttered.

    2. Made a nicely risen loaf.

    3. Went for a walk in the park.

    4. Another NSD.Just as well,as I only have 5 centimes in my purse.

    5. Watching the birds feeding on the balcony.I put extra out because of the snow. The wee cat is endlessly fascinated....

Hope you're all having a good evening x
