Evening,
Thanks CCP for the cider cake recipe. What kind of apples do you use?It looks more like a traybake that you would cut in squares,it that so?I certainly mean to try it.
I have now enabled PMs (I think)...
Sparrer nice to see you back,it sounds like you had a lovely time!
I don't know if I can find 5:
1 Have walked to work the last two days,as opposed to taking the bus part of the way and then walking.Trying to shift a few kilos...
2. Day two of my healthy eating plan has gone well. It's not a diet,I don't believe in diets...
3. A friend popped round yesterday and brought me some free-range eggs and some apples (cider cake?-they're Gala apples).
4.About to sit down to watch a great old film 'Passport To Pimlico'.Any other Ealing comedy fans out there?
5.Wee kitty (HRF) snuffling up on my lap between layers of mohair throw.
Ladyhawk sorry to read that your car is still playing up.
Wishing you all a relaxing evening x0 -
Sparrer - Welcome home
It's great to hear about your amazing adventure. It sounds fantastic :j
CCP - Sorry to hear you've had such a rubbish day. Here's sending you massive good-day-tomorrow-vibes
Here are mine for the past couple of days:
Yesterday
1) Nice visit to my mums
2) Helped her choose a new mattress and bed before her op in a couple of weeks. I lay upon a mattress that cost £1300 :eek: It was okay, but can't see why it cost so much. The mattress my mum chose was marked down at £630 (still ) but I have to say that as soon as you lay on it I felt like I could have an amazing sleep instantly!
3) Had fun looking around our old stomping ground.
4) Heard about a local craft fayre where another knitty friend and I will share a table. Thinking about all the things I need to prepare for it.
5) Also heard that the same friend has sorted out a meet-up with a group of good friends I haven't seen for a while.
Today:
1) A NSD
2) Took DS1 to see an old school friend and I spent the day chatting with his mum who is also my friend. She made us a nice lunch and we had fun doing a Wii dance game.
3) Leftover pork made a delish pork ramen for tea.
4) Have designed a cute tree stump and owl tote bag that I am going to make for the craft fair.
5) Looking forward to getting into bed with a good book tonight.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Right... happy thoughts... happy thoughts... I won't mention the vehicle...
Sparrer - welcome home! I was wondering when you would feel up to telling us how the trip was. Glad you had an amazing time.
1) A lovely cheesecake sample turned up in our office today... YUM... it was so rich and delicious!
2) Got a nice email from our HR director (who sits on our Exec board) who said that I had managed a big project really well and to thank me for all my hard work. Perfect timing for inclusion in my half year review on Friday.
3) The recovery man was really nice and chatty
4) Stopped by my friend's house on the way to work to drop off a basket of goodies tosay thank you for looking after the kitty.
5) Will be taking the vehicle to the garage in the morning so will have a little lie in before I do that. I worked late tonight to ensure that I am up to date with everything.
Night everyone.
Sleep tight

Hi all
Thank you Dundeedoll about your kind words re. my diet (still going strong, thankfully) and good to see you back on the thread.
Also a warm welcome back to Sparrer, sounds like you had a great holiday! Also congratulations your 6th sober anniversary - does time go fast or what, I remember congratulating you last year for your 5 years! Also also: I was waiting for your return to arrange a South London OS Meet up, now the date is fixed, Saturday 9th April, check the thread, hope you can make it (and anyone else who wants to, please!).
I have not been too well, had a horribly heavy period (hope not tmi) and felt really weak and washed out, spent the whole of yesterday in bed which is a bummer, as it was half term and my only free Tuesday, lots of housework still to do and very little time and energy to do it. Never mind, will catch up with it over the next few days.
Here are my pleasures for today:
1 - Feeling immensely better than yesterday
2 - Diet still going strong
3 - Got some amazing cosmetic bargains at Boots with the No 7 voucher and the 3 for 2 offer, which they allowed me to go for. It was about time to change my aged mascara and lippy!
4 - Bought 3 copies of Red Magazine and using their £25 off cards (in 3 separate transactions) I got myself 3 different coloured striped long sleeves T shirts at Hobbs - what an amazing bargain, Hobbs quality at Primark prices! The sales assistant told me that from tomorrow they no longer allow for T shirts to be bought with this offer so I have just made it in time!
5 - Tonight outing with all the family to see the last Harry Potter film (using Orange Weds, Odeon card and DD's student pass so made it extra-cheap!), followed by a Chinese meal in the restaurant where we always go, since the kids were tiny. Had a fantastic time and it was great to see DD and DS laughing and joking together, it was really heartwarming.
Good night all xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
- Dog was incredibly well behaved on the train on the way home:j
- spent 3 days with my best mate eating HM chocolate cake and drinking gallons of tea:p

- Having a gd giggle with w over skype and he seems to have impressed best mate who was having a giggle to

Welcome back, Sparrer.
CCP - hope today goes better for you.
5 for Wednesday.
1) Went into Birmingham on the train with my sons.
2) Gave up queueing for Sealife Centre and went to the old favourite, the Museum and Art Gallery instead.
3) Had a muffin and cup of tea in the Great Western Arcade.
4) Boys went to stay with my sister, back this afternoon.
5) MrN came round. :-)0 -
My five for yesterday are
1. Baking 3 different cakes.
2. Tea of ham bake using up bits as I am delaying going food shopping for a couple of days.
3. Lovely walk with the dog, very muddy but enjoyable.
4. My flowers still looking good after a week and a bit.
5. Having a lie in for the first time in ages.0 -
Caterina - well done on the t-shirts, what a bargain set of buys
Yesterday was another gorgeous day
1. MrA went above and beyond the call of duty in looking after DD for me yesterday when I had important work calls. He's actually spent more time with DD since Saturday than her own flipping father has in the past 2 years!!
2. Was congratulated for an amazing job I did on one of my work calls - shame I've been asked to participate in 10 more in the next couple of weeks!! I guess its an honour but there are going to be some irritating timezone challenges to contend with.....hmm..
3. A spend day, but most of it was good spending - DD and MrA's entry to a play place whilst I worked.
4. Shared a bottle of wine with my traditional Wednesday night girly chum
5. Got loads of washing done - might put some of it outside today as it looks like it's going to be a nice day.
(((Ampersand))) you know why xx0 -
Morning all! Not posted on here for ages due to lack of computer, but have read via my phone, and given myself a squint occasionally as it's such a tiny screen lol! Anyway my 5 for yesterday:
1. Lovely day out with dd1 and her friend, and dd3, much laughter!
2. Lunch out, not terribly OS, but really enjoyed it and so did the girls.
3. Not feeling faint from being pregnant whilst out - standing still tends to make me woozy, but was fine yesterday, so very happy as it is a pain having to keep sitting down!
4. Browsing the Lakeland catalogue - always like a spot of kitchen !!!!!!!
5. My friend who has just moved to Cornwall might have found a cottage, not one of my blessings directly, but I'm so pleased for her!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Thankyou, Kittikins.

Will post again, but not atm.
Caterina - I have tried to email the details of OS meet to self, but have been blocked - 'not enough privileges'!
What's this about? - have been on site for over 5yrs and done nothing naughty.
Can anyone help please?
###########
Oh sod it! - will do sth now, however minimal.
1. Reading mummysaver's Lakeland !!!!!! pleasure reminds me how pleased I am with my new £Poundland hob lighter, includes fuel, and works better than anything I've ever had....and we know how much it cost.
2. Rhubarb is bursting through and has multiplied.
3. Found some turbolisted things already done for ebay, will continue all day[in defiance of what today represents for me]-will have to get away tonight though.
4. 20 mins of steroid/cortisone jab, pure Hell last Friday, is helping, if I don't get up much. But I have to be at OD every Tues and alt Sat's and it has been agony for last month since it happened. Mask of Normalcy wears thin :-)...but I'm surprised that Dr's insistence on rest being key to letting under-kneecap injection have a chance to do its thing, is actually correct! Perhaps that's why she is Dr and I am not? Just cannot get past the old thing of mind over matter/don't slack[esp. atm when Thoughts must not have more leeway than I can help]/activity will work it through etc.etc. But it was one mighty fall/crack/rip...so, maybe I'd better obey....for once.
5. I have been truly sustained in a dark place by kind spontaneous pms. I deeply thank you.
6. M's birthday cake for France, baked a week ago, fed with brandy, looks/smells good. Will almond ice demain.
7. Have £30 Mr T restaurant vouchers to use by 28/2 - will do so.
8. Sparrer is back, writing vividly - a wonderful trip. [And soap to go, sparrer - not quite the same excitement.]
9. Watched Monsieur Merle abluting at length in one of the rainwater trays.
10. Collected hangers offered on Freecycle for OD and kind lass had 2 bags of bric à brac too! her partner is doing PhD on what turns out to be extremely relevant atm, earthquake forensics/forecasting, so we spoke of my hometown and what is happening in Chch.
11. Have done this...another day, although this date never will be.
Blessings to all - buds and blooms are showing.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:
