Evening all.
Ladyhawk - my book is the latest in a series by a writer called Jasper Fforde - they're very silly but very funny.
marmite - re cider cake - I'm not quite sure what the definition of a traybake is.The cider cake's quite moist but it turns out quite easily so you don't have to cut it up in the tin. For the apples, I usually use cooking apples as that's how I remember it being made (it was originally a tasty way of using up apples from the tree in the garden), but I'm sure it would work with eating apples as well.
1) Very lazy day at work today.I got through a huge pile of work yesterday as I was planning on spending today working on a usually very complicated report but, when I ran the report, there was nothing on there that needed action, so I didn't have to do anything after all.
2) Went for a walk in the sunshine and flowers are starting to spring up everywhere.
3) My first HG daffodil is out in flower.
4) Had a phone call to say my new sofa will be delivered next Friday. :j
5) And my dad's offered to come over and help if I have trouble dismantling my old one to go to the Great Living Room In The Sky.
Have a pleasant rest-of-evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Lost my post :-(
Very briefly:
1) Got wellies and Spiderman dressing gown from the charity shop. Brand new wellies!
2) Did the borders in my garden which the builders had left trampled and full of cement and brick dust.
3) Went to mum and dad's briefly.
4) Went for a walk down to the nature reserve.
5) Fish and chips for tea.
6) MrN has been and just gone and.... drum roll... I think it is safe to say at this late stage... we are going away for the weekend. :-)) Leaving tomorrow once my sons have been picked up by their father. All his sons already safely stopping away until Sunday. :-D0 -
Frith: oooh! do have a lovely weekend!
Well I've had a most pleasant day & just waiting (rumblingly so!) for dinner to be brought in by OH.
1.Hurrah for Friday, the last few weeks have just sped by, now we are back into school routine! Had a PTA meeting at school, which I enjoyed and got a lift to next town from one of other mums.
2.Did a bit of Christmas shopping. It's the end of summer here (Autumn 'starts' next Tuesday) and as Christmas is in summer I'm taking advantage of end of seaon sales. Has all been wrapped & put away (saddo!)
3.Didn't eat out....came home & made a cheese & onion toastie that was most yummy!
4. Got a call from school sick bay , sinking feeling.....dd2 had fallen off zipline in playground and had hurt wrist....however, the pleasure is she seems to be okay! Didn't need to come home early (phew! I had pressies to wrap!) A wee bit bruised & tender but she has full movement of hand & thumb.
5.hey! It's the weekend...no school, to be a nice weekend, weather wise & we hope to go to beach & we have a friend from UK coming for dinner on Sunday. Lots to look forward to.
Enjoy your Friday.

Morning
Sparrer - Welcome back from your travels, sounds like you had a fantastic time
Frith - Have a great weekend
Ampersand - ((Hugs))
Pleasures for the last couple of days:
1. Evening out with OH on Wednesday. We had planned on Nandos and cinema but the queue for Nandos was huge so went to a new local restaurant that was lovely and very reasonably priced. As we were in there much longer than planned didn't bother with the cinema.
2. Managed a 5.5 mile training walk and used it for practical purposes as well. Delivered some light bulbs to the in-laws that OH had got for them. Also meant I had a toilet stop as usually am crossed legged by the time I get home:o
3. OH cooked dinner last night whilst I went walking. This a first for a very long time:j
4. Chat with DD on the phone who is having a lovely time with my parents. The week has gone so quickly.
5. I emptied my shoe fund tin and there was £350 in there. I put any spare money I have at the end of the week in there usually just a couple of pounds at a time but it really adds up. So I ordered a pair of shoes that I have been lusting after for a while, not practical but lovely and no guilt as had saved for them.

We cooed over them in the office yesterday
6. Washing and ironing pile starting to look more under control as have made a real effort to get lots of both done this week
7. Received a free hair dye in the post plus vouchers for another two so have given a voucher to my friend J who is very happy and plan to give another friend one today. I love freebies:money:
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Tealady - wow, those shoes are gorgeous
I need to have a bit of a mooch on that site..........

I love those ones even more!!
what a cute ladybird
I have lots pleasures already and it's only 3pm and I haven't seen MrA yet
1. Work has been quite quiet
2. Lovely chats with MrA, looking forward to the weekend
3. Wrote myself a big housework to do list last night and have done most of it already
4. Renewed my library books online, avoiding fines - phew! hadn't realised today was the last day.
5. DD has gone to my parents now and has just called me sounding very happy and perky
6. Did a bottom of the fridge veggie and bean stew that has made me 4 meals for the freezer. Hoorah!0 -
Hi all
Kittikins, thanks, yes I feel really happy about the super-bargain in Hobbs!
Mummysaver, great to see you around again, how have you been?
Ampersand, sorry no idea about privileges, but I saw that you found the OS Meet Up thread, really looking forward to meeting you in person! Incidentally, re. Ironing, check this link for some ironing with a difference: http://www.extremeironing.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index
House elf, great that you got one of the Hobbs bargains, too, apparently they are going to stop people from buying the t-shirts, so we got there just in time! I luuuurrrrrvvvve HOBBS!
Ladyhawk, thanks for your kind words!
Frith, how exciting about the weekend with Mr N, hope you have a great time!
Here are my pleasures for today:
1 - Great relief, yesterday I had a health scare but today after a doctor's visit I was told it is nothing serious. I am extremely grateful for this, thank you God!
2 - Long chat with the man who delivers the veg box, he is also a musician and seems to have taken DS under his wing, helping him with production etc. He is really a lovely man.
3 - Visited a friend briefly and it was good to see her.
4 - Another friend came to visit me, she was working in the area and had no lunch so I made her an impromptu cheese and salad late lunch and we had a nice chat - she also helped me fold the laundry from the garden.
5 - Yet another friend came visiting unexpectedly and brought me two lovely gifts, a raspberry plant and a vine plant, both dug up from her (enormous and gorgeous) garden. I shall plant both in the allotment.
6 - DH is having an evening out (reunion with former colleagues, he will come back rather p****d I expect) so I can slum it in bed with dinner on a tray and a trashy novel, no need to cook (in fact I might just order a takeaway, as it is only DS and I because DD is out, too!).
Good night everybody xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hello
My 5 OS-things done today were:-
1. Stressing about how to get the washing dry on the maiden as there was so much about it and the weather was too bad to put it outside - so I did an extra spin at the end to dry them off a bit and squeezed as much as I could on the radiators :j
2. Scoffing a pack of Fruitella sweets after tea, which were of offer in the shop of course.
3. Cutting all my j-cloths in half to make them last twice as long
4. Clearing out the kitchen cupboards and put everything "salvageable" (word?) into separate pots - e.g. pens, half-used candles, batteries that won't work in electrical goods but will do for remotes etc.
5. Drinking more tea than usual instead of juice to use up the milk that probably won't be okay tomorrow.
Now time to watch Corrie and chill with the cats! :TA journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Started 15/03/2011.

Evening all,
Hope you are enjoying your start to your weekend.
1) Had my half year review today and it went really well.
2) I was senior management again today and sent everyone home slightly early. Not that I had the authority to do so but what the hell... I stayed late though... to hold the fort.
3) Decided to try to book the skiing holiday that I had cancelled... it's fully booked now so at least it is out of my hands.
4) Yummy tuna fishcakes for supper with carrots and sprout tops.
5) I was supposed to be going into town tonight to play pool with theMeet Up group but they all cancelled at the last minute... I was rather relieved that I don't have to go out in the rain.
Night all.
L
PS Bad Tealady for showing me pretty pictures of shoes that I am now lusting over as well....Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0
