Evening everyone...
I feel completely zombiefied this evening and am going to have to have another early night...
1) Car was a nightmare to start this morning.... but I managed to get it started after about 15 minutes of trying (just after I put down the phone to Green Flag) so I managed to get to the garage early enough for one of my colleagues to give me a lift to work
2) One of my lovely colleagues lent me his car this evening so I don't need to get lifts tonight and tomorrow
3) My colleages declaring that my 2 day old scones tasted better than our suppliers fresh ones!
4) I took a fruit basket in to the office to share... it was much appreciated by all.
5) Saw my firsy daffodil of the year.
Happy St David's day everyone.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
1. A low spend day - I ordered a new garden table and chairs from Tesco Direct that will hopefully be reasonably sturdy as they were so cheap, even cheaper once I used my clubcard vouchers and a credit I inadvertently put on my credit card last month, so made it effectively £25 "cheaper" for me
It MUST be my only naughty spend for the month though as I can't really afford them but spring is in the air and my current table and chairs are falling apart
2. MrA seems to be on the mend after a bout of feeling rubbish. Fingers crossed he's well enough to come over tomorrow
3. Had a great time with my Rainbows tonight celebrating St David's Day. They like the quiz I made for them.
4. Managed to stand up for myself a bit at work and said NO to taking on an urgent massive task as I'm swamped and recognised that I was feeling very stressed at the thought of trying to squeeze it in. Having made myself quite ill with work stress last year, I am very conscious that I don't want to slip again and can feel it starting up again over the past couple of weeks, so am proud that I managed to defend myself a bit!
5. Worked from home and was very busy but glad to be saving the petrol
6. Made a great chuck it in and see what happens dish for lunch out of wilting spinach and salad leaves, chilli, onion, garlic, spices and bulgar wheat, nom nom nom. I shouldn't really have had a second bowl and could/should have had the rest for dinner but it was sooooo good
7. Treated myself to a YS mini bottle of Freixenet with dinner, it was soooo yummy and really was enough for the evening as I don't drink on my own as a general rule.
8. Have invited some chums (DD's friend and his lovely mummy) over for tea on Thursday, hope they'll be able to make it.
9. I'm multi-tasking by getting towels dry on the radiators as it's very cold here tonight and I need some warmth as I'm not going to be getting bear hugs from MrA today *sniff*
10. MrA and I are watching the same documentaries and texting each other comments throughout. Sad but kind of sweet....or just sad, take your pick, but we like itI'm so pleased to have a boyfriend who also likes watching nature/history/science documentaries, although his affection for Corrie leaves me slightly cold....I suppose everyone has their Achilles heel!!
11. DD did her funny dance to the Archers theme tune tonight, love her to bits0 -
Evening
Pleasures for today:
1. Another busy morning before work. Made a pan of soup and got a beef casserole in the slow cooker. Also got a bit more ironing done.
2. The ham and mushroom muffins went down well at work and everyone declared them a success. I spoilt them today as I took soup in as well which fed 4 of us and have 2 portions left for my and J tomorrow.
3. As the bus stop was out of order walked to and from work today so saved myself over £2 in bus fares. Just realised that it was a NSD as no bus fares
4. The beef casserole from the slow cooker was yummy. Even DD who is never keen on anything from the slow cooker ate loads. In fact she went back for 3rds, I thought she was going to lick the bowl clean at one point. She must be on a growing spurt as she then had chocolate cake and maltesers. And she is still sooo thin.
5. Just got back from a 7 mile power walk. Really didn't feel like going out as was so cold but glad I made the effort and feel quite good for it now.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
sparrer - brilliant photos! Thanks for sharing. I loved your 'ooh' face on your elephant ride - what an experience! Plus, had to chuckle at your friend's 'wheelchairs'. I can see why she drew the line at being pulled along in a metal cart!! :rotfl:
Frith - great to hear that your weekend went well.
Caterina - Glad you had a better day today. (((hugs)))
Ladyhawk - well done on your fundraising. That's a huge amount. :T
Here are mine for today:
1) I got a free face mask from Lush yesterday by handing in 5 empty tubs - used it this morning and it was very nice. Not something I would usually have the money for so it was a nice treat.
2) A NSD
3) Found out that our mortgage will only go up by an extra tenner a month after our payment break - that's much less than I expected so it's a relief. Just HAVE to find work to cover the mortgage when it starts back asap.
4) I am crocheting like mad in any spare time to get ready for the craft stall - it would be nice if I can sell some bits. Every little bit helps!
5) A nice tea of home made Cornish pasty with mash and veg.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt
August GC £0/£3000 -
Evening,
For today (day off):
1 Walked into town for an appt. instead of getting the bus.
2 Did all the housework today instead of spreading it over a few days.
3 Had a nap this afternoon as felt really tired, was joined by the furry, purry one (she makes a lovely hot-water bottle).
4 Have made a nice vegetable and pesto pasta.Should have enough for three more meals.
5 Day off tomorrow.
Caterina get well now!Back pain is horrible...
Wishing you all a good evening x0 -
Evening everyone!
Quick 5 from me:-
1) Beautiful sunny day - enjoyed wandering around local outdoor market with a friend, enjoying the sun on my face and not having to wear several layers
2) Got 2 lovely jacket style cardis off a stall - cost me £5 for both! Trader buys up end of lines from various suppliers including Next, MandS etc - absolute bargains
3) The joy of having a new cooker and being able to cook without burning everything (wonky thermostat on the old one)
4) Basic tea of sausage and mash - absolutely delicious
5) Finished off some household admin, paid a bill, and all filed away - was never so organised when I was working
Hope all are well/getting better
Pam x0 -
Caterina, glad your back is easier today, hope it's back to normal soon xx
My five pleasures for today:
1. Finding and buying a car, was beginning to get a wee bit tired of car hunting, this one is a perfect size, a good price and should be fairly economical to run.
2. Getting some stuff to the tip, ds helped so I didn't have to do any heavy lifting, bless him!
3. Finding some vanilla yoghurt left for me in the fridge, usually it's all gone by the time I get there!
4. Cuddles with dd3 before she went to bed, she was chatting to and patting Spud, she's beyond excited lol!
5. dd3 finding my dvd of Big Trouble in Little China, I love that film, dd1 was most surprised by Kim Catrall in it!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Blimus it was surprisingly bumpy up there
Kittikins I love your No 10..ahhhh :lovethoug
Caterina pleased to hear you're on the mend, but don't do too much too soon!
Pam like you I find time is more precious now I don't work. Loving this retirement thing
1. nsd
2. Washed all the bins and baskets, doesn't sound like a great pleasure but nice to see (and smell) them all clean and shiny
3. Had a corned beef and tomato sandwich for tea. I've never really been keen on corned beef but found two slices in the freezer which needed using up, and it was surprisingly nice. Pleased now that I didn't throw them out as I was going to at first
4. Watched a documentary about a housing assn which brought back mixed memories of my years in the housing dept.
5. Got two loads of washing done before the kitchen refurb starts. Still no sign or sound of the fitters yet, perhaps tomorrow. Meanwhile I'm getting lots of little niggly chores out of the way while I wait for their phone call.
Night night, sweet dreams

5 for today (Tuesday).
1) A step closer to getting our passports! Now they need my marriage certificate (long gone) and it took an hour to navigate the council's website to order a copy.
2) Bit of a tidy. Sort of.
3) Looked after MrN's/my sons and that went well. Tea was quite nice.
4) MrN came round and has just gone. :-)
5) I don't normally play the piano in front of people anymore and was just "testing" MrN's out whilst waiting for his sons to come home from school. Got quite into it then looked round to see 4 small faces looking at me from the kitchen!! Definitely a comedy piano moment as it went tra la la... thump crash silence!0 -
hello,
It's been the most pleasant day here, had a wee feel of Scottishness to the air! Was about 19o at it's highest & a cooler start to the day & it's cooling down again this evening. I am enjoying wearing my jeans, socks & longer tops.....what I was wearing before we moved out here....not quite at my gorgeous green coat I bought in September, temperature yet.....but it may come!
1. Whilst waiting for a very late bus I had a lovely chat with a woman, we talked about loads of different things & it was so nice to have a conversation. My job, back home, involved lots of interaction with people & I do miss that in my day to day !
2. Went to Salvos & got a gorgeous wicker basket/tray thingy! It didn't have a price, there were others about $8.99 so expected to pay around that.....$1.99 so more than happy, gave it a scrub when I got home & it's sitting nicely on my wooden kitchen table!
3.whispers......bananas for $2 in fruit shop, to get mashed & frozen for my banana loaf!
4. Came home & was most industrious. DD2 birthday tomorrow, so made: cupcakes as birthday cake, (all pink iced & sparkly!) , mini cupcakes to take to school, mini meringues, rocky road cakes, marshmallow tophats and pancakes for kids coming in with school with leftover egg yolks.
5.Quick & easy tea of French Toast (egg yolks!) and a wee cupcake( well had to try before they go to school.....and they are most tasty!)
It's been a most nice day! Hope you all enjoy yours! x0
