    Evening all.

Once again I'm struggling for pleasures, I'm afraid - I've had a lousy day at work (it's apparently been official 'have a go at the central admin department' day, and I'm not the only one who's been reduced to near tears and/or incoherent fury by some of the insults and accusations that have come our way today), and the ongoing situation in various countries isn't exactly cheering to read about.

    Anyway, let's try:

    1) One nice email amongst all the nasty stuff, from a deputy head of department indicating that he trusts my judgement over his own on one particular issue. :) (It's particularly nice - and odd - as I had a major disagreement with his head of department over exactly the same subject at the end of last year, which ended with the head of department basically telling me to keep my nose out of things I didn't understand. I suspect today's email was a subtle way of indicating that not everyone in the department feels like that - a vote of confidence, really. :))

    2) Had a walk down to the seafront at lunchtime to clear my head and admire the view of... fog, actually, but never mind! ;)

    3) Easy lunch of LO aubergine and ricotta bake from last night, which proved nicely warming after my foggy walk.

    4) After such a lousy day I decided to buy a pizza rather than making one - until I saw the cost of a small RM pizza in the supermarket. I rapidly changed my mind and am making my own after all!

    5) I am planning on reacting to my stressful day in a mature and sensible way, and opening a bottle of wine to go with my pizza. :o It will taste good, though, as it's some of the good quality wine I got dirt cheap on special offer last year.

I will now go away and stop whinging. :o Have a lovely evening, everyone.
Back after a very long break!

    Evening all,

Thanks for your kind words about my friend pregnancy... it still brings a tear to my eye when I think about their 6 failed IVF treatments and how devastated they were each time it failed.

CCP - sorry to hear about your rubbish day. Isn't everyday have a go at central services (as we call them in my company)? Glad you got at least one good email.

    1) Worked from home today. Got lots of work done and still managed an afternoon cat nap!

    2) Had the kitty cat curled up to me on the sofa most of the day

    3) NSD

    4) Got some washing done

    5) ITS THE WEEKEND!!!

    Have a good one

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    5 for today (so far).

    1) MrN took the boys to school for me. :-)

    2) Mum and dad came round for a cup of coffee (which is very rare - and they only live 2 miles away!)

    3) Went to Sainsburys with no sons, always a pleasure! Finally got some new cutlery - we were down to just 4 knives and forks (??) and, for any sort of party/more than 1 visitor, I had to borrow some! Got a pack of 4 knives and 4 forks. Also got some stuff for what we call "a Subway lunch". Got some nice rolls and sons will have a choice tomorrow of chicken, cheese, peppers, tomatoes etc.

    4) Went to bigger son's open afternoon with my dad.

    5) Made a pleasant tea - curry and rice for many.

    6) Have been playing spillikins in front of the stove with bigger son. Bath and bedtime for them now.

    7) Looking forward to seeing MrN later. :-)

    8) IT'S HALF TERM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Good evening all

CCP, sorry to hear about your work trouble and hope that the weekend brings you a lot of lovely pleasures!

Here are my pleasures for today:

1 - My friend came to have breakfast with me as she works near here at the moment.

2 - She brought some lovely wild smoked salmon to have with our scrambled eggs, and some lovely (looking, I did not have any) soda bread, which the rest of my family really enjoyed.

3 - I am sorting out my fitness regime, so that as I lose weight I don't go all floppy but get nice and toned.

4 - Mystery lunch with DD, we had a great time together and it was a real treat, especially because she has just finished her Uni work (a presentation that was really worrying her) for the time being.

5 - Went to Canary Wharf and found they were having fashion consultations, so I had one about colours (I am an autumn with some winter characteristics) and then style (she just confirmed that I am already doing all the right things - of course, I am Italian, I have style in my blood :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:).

6 - DH happened to be working in the area today so we traveled back home together.

7 - The rest of the family cooked dinner while I filled my mystery report.

8 - Just got an email announcing a free preview of West is West and I have managed to get two tickets for this Sunday!

Have a good night everybody x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
