I agree Primrose, it's fantastic news, and I meant to put it as one of my pleasures yesterday about the mega dairy as it had me dancing around the kitchen in delight!

I have another pleasure... and this one is worth far more than the 5 that I have already mentioned combined.

My friend, C, has announced this evening that after 4 years of utter heartbreak of trying to fall pregnant, countless failed IVF when his wife would miscarry before 12 weeks, that she is finally pregnant and the baby is hanging in there!!! They made the decision last year that they could not bear to go through another cycle and then all of a sudden K fell pregant the old fashioned way.

I am so pleased for them!! YAY!!
    Man plans and God laughs...
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
  • Thanks Primrose, for sharing the news about the huge dairy factory being rejected.I'm thrilled about this!A dreadful proposal.I had tried to sign the petition, but they didn't accept signatures from overseas.

    For today,a day off:

1 It's a year since I joined this site.Such a source of inspiration and advice!

    2 Did some more decluttering.

3 The wee cat chatty and playful.

    4 Made a lemon cheesecake.It's a chilled one,the first time I've tried that.

5 Had a nice tea:sauted Swiss chard with garlic and pesto and some pasta and a red cabbage and carrot salad.(New resolution to eat more veg).

Ladyhawk that's great news about your friend.

Wogglemaker hope you have a better night's sleep tonight.

Caterina well done on the weight loss, you must be thrilled.

    mhagster I agree,humidity is the pits.Bon courage.

Hello to all the new posters!

    Hi all

Sparrer, great to see you posting, have a safe trip home and see you soon again on a regular basis!

Newlywed, good news re. your reconciliation, you must be very happy (and serene - I know first hand how it feels!).

Katholicos, good to see you back on the thread!

Primrose, well done on environmental campaigns, both victories are really good news!

Ladyhawk what lovely news re. your friend's pregnancy!

    Marmite
, thank you, I am thrilled! Can't stop smiling even today when I think about it, especially because (God willing) it seems to be the right diet for me, no hardship, no cravings, lots of energy, what's not to like? Hope it continues like this, by summer I might be wearing a bikini, who knows? LOL

Here are my pleasures for today:

1 - Cup of green tea in bed courtesy of DH

2 - Breakfast with DS, as always, and as always a pleasure.

3 - Made lunch for the people I volunteer for and brought it to the office, they liked it very much (feta, mushroom and spinach frittata, mixed side salad).

4 - Had an interesting and productive afternoon in the volunteering office.

5 - This evening, for the first time ever, I attended a Zumba class, which was absolutely fantastic, even if very fast (I am really tired now!). In addition, it is run by my local gym to which I am a member so I do not have to pay any extra to attend!

    Good night all x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    5 for today (Thurs).

    1) Helped in school all day. I've really let that slide since Christmas as one or other of us has always been ill (hence off school).

    2) Bigger son went to Warwick Castle and enjoyed it.

    3) Smaller son's class had an open afternoon so I walked down the corridor to go to it! My mum went too.

    4) Builder came round to give a quote for the guttering.

    5) Just making some fairy cakes so they'll all have a nice snack to take to school for the last day of half term.

Ladyhawk - congratulations to your friends on the pregnancy, very heartwarming :) I didn't get as far as IVF but for nearly 7 years thought I couldn't have children, then just as I was about to consider other options, DD came along! Life can be flipping amazing at times :):)

evening all from (moan moan) hot & humid Melbourne. Todays been a bit of a struggle but we got there!
1.Took DD2 to school then got a bus to train station, a train to 2 towns away, took about 7 minutes! A lovely journey & nice to see a change in scenery from the train.

    2. had a very tasty scone & jam , juice and a read at the paper in a very nice cafe. Quite happy watching the world go by!

3.Bought some gifts to put by for Christmas and had some lovely conversations and just got to station in time for train home.
Popped into library & had an hour of 'Casualty'.....guilty pleasures! So am now up to date!

    4. Home & I was soooooo hot. Got electricity bill, was pleasantly surprised at amount. About half of what I thought it might be! Scaremongering media going on about HUGE price hikes but in comparison to what I was paying back home it's slightly cheaper and that's been with occasional aircon but more often fans on!

5.Struggled with the final walk to & from school of the week ,it was so hot. However that's us till Monday! Had a visit from 4 year old neighbour which was nice. OH home after a few days away working & fish & chips for tea!

    Enjoy your Friday,
    mhags x

    Morning

    Pleasures for yesterday:
    1. Did all the prep for dinner before work as knew would be short on time when got in from work so had home cooked meal last night and not tempted by a takeaway.
    2. Received another £3 of luncheon vouchers in the post plus another £3 tesco voucher. I know not best use of tesco vouchers but am considering using them for a new washing machine as mine is not working properly see 3.
    3. Managing to get some washing that was in the machine to drain and do a short spin as the main spin cycle has decided not to work. Did get it dried eventually. I have had my machine for over 15 years so can't really complain.
    4. Carried out volunteer work with the local guide division. Not too busy but good to be able to help. Will be doing the same tonight but the brownies and rainbows.
    5. Pleasant day at work with emails just about caught up on. I will get an empty inbox.

    5) Offered my services at a charity shop for half a day a week
