Evening
Pleasures for today:
1. Porridge for breakfast today, haven't had it for a couple of days and really enjoyed it this morning.
2. Had my appraisal with my boss today and all went well, as even though I didn't achieve all my objectives last year he was really pleased with the work done. We had a manic year and other things took priority. Have some interesting stuff to do this year and some of it is back in my comfort zone.
3. Easy dinner of sausage, veg and pasta soup for dinner with french stick. Everyone enjoyed but a little too much as there is none left for my lunch tomorrow.
4. Sorting out DD's new ipod for her as she was struggling to set it up, she was pleased but also a bit miffed that I managed to do something she couldnt;)
5. Booked DD''s train tickets for next week and by using a different train company to the main one managed to get her ticket for half the price and she is travelling 1st class. Feel a bit more settled about her travelling on her own and as she pointed out she gets the train to school every day, the journey this time is just a bit longer.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Thank you for the Huggs Tealady. Here's what I can manage for today.
1. a good nights sleep (only woke twice for the loo) - diuretics and water tablets make running to the loo an ocupatinal hazard.
2. A lovely juicy pear with my cereal today - juice dribbling down chin juicy.
3. a love doze in the chair day as body fights the chest infection that's hit me before I run to Dr's.
4. HM carrot & lental soup for lunch & 1/2 a sarnie = no queezie tummy

Evening all,
Hope you are well. Phew! What a busy day! None stop meetings.
1) First meeting of the day had to be moved to the Cost@ Coffee round the corner as there were no meeting rooms available. Nice as I will be claiming that on expenses!!
2) Walked to Cost@ without my coat on and wasn't cold
3) NSD
4) Nice easy dinner - baked fish in tomato sauce, with mashed potato and sweetcorn. I made it last night so it was so just had to heat it up.
errr..... really struggling to find a 5th pleasure....
so I'll have to go with...
5) Despite a manically busy day, it felt as if I made progress.
Night all... its 9pm and this Ladyhawk is ready for bed. I'm on 3 different tablets at the moment which all seem to have drowsyness as a side effect. Well, I'm blaming that at least for my going to bed early!
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Hello all,
Hope it is OK for me to join in. I have really enjoyed reading everybody elses. Need a bit of cheering up so thought some positive thinking was needed!
1. Did the fitness test in the Kinect and got advanced on toning and cardio.
2. Used the brussel sprouts in the fridge for my tea and it was very nice.
3. OH's brother has gone home after a visit, sounds really mean. But very excited about having the house to myself.
4. Watched the recorded Big Fat Gypsy Wedding. Oh how I love trashy TV.
5. Have only had healthy snacks today rather than hitting the biscuits or chocolate.
That does actually make me feel a bit more positive.0 -
Hi all
Welcome to the thread destroyerofdebt2011 (love the positive name!), katieclampet and cat_g_83!
Marmite, I use fresh chillies when I have them, but I still have lots of (formerly) fresh ones that are now dry, they were given to me by another allotment holder who grows loads. They are delicious! Dry chillies are perfectly ok anyway, you just got to get to know them so you know how much to add to your dishes.
CCP, fancy you talking about rainbow chard, I just ordered 2 packets of seeds, one for me and another for an older allotment keeper who does not access the internet and did not know where to get them. Sorry to hear you are not well and finding it difficult to find pleasures (((HUGS))).
Wogglemaker, (((HUGS))) to you too, hope you get well soon!
Here are my pleasures for the day:
1 - Nice breakfast with DS, very healthy, poached smoked haddock on a bed of buttered spinach (he had toast too).
2 - Went to a "Return To Work" workshop at the job centre, I was dreading it but in fact it was interesting and informative.
3 - After the job centre I went to the gym, not to work out (did not have the time) but to weigh myself on the same scales as last week. There I got the (lovely) shock of a lifetime, to find out that from 14 st of just over 2 weeks ago I now weigh 13 st 2lb!!!!!:j:beer::T I haven't been this "light" since after having the twins, 21 years ago! YIPPPEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!! Could not stop smiling for the rest of the day!
4 - Came back home, had nice lunch then went out with DD for my daily (mandatory on my diet programme) walk, 4 rounds of a small park, probably we covered 2 miles in all. It was lovely spending time with her.
5 - Got some housework done: DH's shirts ironed, towels laundered and hung to dry in the garden, bedroom tidied up.
6 - Lovely dinner, I cooked and mashed a green cauliflower (for those of you "in the know": broccolo romanesco) in chilli and garlic oil, had my portion on green beans, the others had it on pasta. Accompanied by a Greek salad. Yummy! All the family complimented me on the broccolo dish.
Good night everybody xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
1. I'm feeling happy and human again today and am a much nicer person to be around, even if I say so myself
2. DD and I had a lovely afternoon/evening with her new friend and mummy, who came over to play/have tea for the first time. The time just ran away with us, the girls played together beautifully and me and mummy bonded over coffee. So happy to have made a new friend myself
3. MrA and I are watching the same TV programmes (BBC2 documentaries) in our own houses and texting comments to each other. He's feeling ill tonight so this is the closest we get to being together, nearly as good as watching on the same sofa (well........ish, I'm not that soppy, I do so wish he was here beside me whilst we watch and am disappointed that he's not here, but no point being annoyed about it, there's always tomorrow, or Friday or another day, it'll be worth the wait)
4. Turned yesterday's veggie soup into tonight's thai prawn rice stew, DD ate with her friend so I made the most of being able to have spicy food, yum yum!
5. MrA texted me ideas of food he'd like to cook for me, bless him.....I have been warned he's a good cook but very messy, so that'll be fine by me, as I'm quite messy too so won't be offended in any way! Would love to be cooked for, DD's good but not quite there yet!
6. Signing up for the Guardian teaching resources, hopefully will get some good ideas for my various voluntary educational bits and pieces.0 -
5 for today (Weds).
1) Had a cup of tea with MrN this morning. :-)
2) Dad and brother came for the last of the builders rubble.
3) I put the spare bricks on Freecycle (or Freegyl or whatever it's called now) and a lady came to collect them to make a BBQ. So the garden is finally clear of scaffolding, cement mixer, bags of cement, piles of bricks, rubble and builders! I felt like putting a deckchair up on our little patio area.
4) Went into town for lunch with a college friend. She is very kind and likes finding out about people and to be encouraging which is all lovely, but am now wondering if I monopolised the conversation and didn't ask her enough about her life. :-S
5) Got back to find my bigger son has finally got a place at the local stage school! Of course, now he doesn't want to go and denies all knowledge of ever wanting to go or being on the waiting list for a place...
6) Went to mum and dad's for tea.
7) Smaller son finished his mammoth castle project in the nick of time.
8) Bigger son EXTREMELY excited about going to Warwick Castle with the school tomorrow. Just about to boil some eggs because he wants egg mayo sandwiches.0 -
morning all! Thursday evening here, planning on another early night! Very hot & humid again today, a few showers this morning( after I'd hung out washing!......however soon dried again in the sun!)
1. On way to school we saw a tree absolutely full of parrots....took a few moments to appreciate it before marching onwards (and upwards & downwards.....!)
2.Got all tidied up again!
3. Finished my knitting.
4. Put my air con on........this is in no way money saving as it's expensive however it was a pleasure! I only put it on if we are struggling with heat.........I am struggling this week (mentally & physically) with the humidity, it is so draining and this is the first day I put it on.
5.Easy tea, of French toast then popcorn, followed by a relaxing bath!
Enjoy your day!0 -
