    Evening

    Pleasures for today:
    1. Got to work to find 2 parcels waiting for me full of MSE goodies that I had ordered last week. I love this website. Now have my nephews birthday and christmas present sorted plus a couple of spare presents for children if I need them.
    2. Lunch out with a lovely work collegue. We went to a local Japanese cafe which is cheap but fab food.
    3. Playing a silly game with DD and OH tonignt at home. We don't sit down together often enough to do these things, must make more of an effort
    4. Coming to an agreement with DD that she must earn a % of her pocket money so we drew up a list of jobs and what each was worth. Will see how it goes ;)
    5. Easy dinner of pasta bolognaise but also have a pan of roasted butternut squash soup on the go and have just taken some jam tarts out of the oven, made using some left over pastry from the weekend.

Hugs to all who need them, especially Wogglemaker

    5 for today so far.

    1) Went into Nationwide to ask why my standing order to NPower hasn't actually reached them. Turned out the lady at Nationwide Hereford put the wrong reference number in the computer so my money has been going to NPower every month but goodness knows where exactly! Anyway, I can recommend the service at Nationwide Ludlow as the lady sorted it all out, printed me a statement, then shut her little blind down and typed a letter for me to post to NPower while I waited! :-)

    2) Did the 2nd hand shops - no clothes that I really liked but I did buy "A Short History of Tractors in Ukranian".

    3) Passed my mum and dad parked up having Valentine's Day fish and chips on my way home. :-D

    4) Builders getting on well. The really ropey "could fall down at any second" bits of wall and chimney have now been replaced. They reckon they will finish completely tomorrow.

    5) Looked in smaller son's reading diary and it said he has been reading out loud to staff in "silly voices". Ahem. Then I looked at what they had given him and it was still pretty much one of the SEN books. I thought I'd find him something more exciting to read to me and he is racing through George's Marvellous Medicine so has come on really well. More exciting than the "Fuzzbuzz" series we had to plough through!

    6) Having a nice sit down now (ignoring the brick dust which I will clean up properly when they finish), in front of the fire, with the cat. Don't know if MrN will come round later. :-)

I've just done mine on line and they print off what you need and send it to you... so much easier than faffing around at the post office. Sorry that I'm probably a day too late with that bit of information though!!

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    Afternoon all,
Cold and wet afternoon here - brrrrrr! Have managed to chip a front tooth, and run up a £65 vet bill today  In an attempt to brighten up my mood I've come up with a few pleasures.

    1) Thanks to Martin's newsletter, I've applied - and got - a £100 grant towards cavity wall insulation from British Gas :j
I'd enquired very recently, and was told I had to be over 70 or on benefits to qualify - I told them today what I'd read and where, and after some to-ing and fro-ing (while they no doubt checked it out) they grudgingly admitted I was right  Going to email the big boss about that one :D
    2) Cosy and warm - watching a craft programme on TV
    3) As I can't get my tooth fixed til Thursday, it'll be no spend days until then, as I can't go out looking like the cousin of Fang. At least the money saved on cavity wall insulation will go towards the dentists bill

Will pop back later if I come up with 2 more.
    Hope all are well,
    Pam x
  • My pleasures for today and the last few days:

1 It's raining today. It hasn't rained for about a month!I hope it rains all week...(reminds me of home).

2 Really struggling with running these last few days, but have been out, even if it's only 2 miles.

3 Have just had a lovely meal using Swiss chard, which I've never cooked before.I've only been a vegetarian for over thirty years :o.I'm just not very adventurous.Lots more meals with Swiss chard planned...

4 I only work three days this week.

    5 NSD today.

    Wogglemaker hope the day improves.

Caterina hope your allotment interview has the desired effect.

    Have a good evening x
  • Some pleasures for today:

    1. Finding a tin of shaving foam (for women) half price in Wilkos so it was only 59p :D
    2. Putting my feet up with a cup of tea at the end of what has seemed to be a looooong day.
    3. A simple tea of soup tonight, but one we haven't had for ages and I am looking forward to.
    4. I've started getting a kind of kitchen management folder underway with spaces for coupons, freezer labels (and a pen), defrost diaries, recipes to type up - that sort of thing, so feel am really getting more organised!
    5. Took about 8 books to one of the (many) charity shops in town today. They were exceedingly grateful and were especially pleased when I said I'd have another lot for them tomorrow! Now I'm driving I don't have anywhere near as much time to read as I'd like. So, space being the thing we need at the mo, I'm donating them to charity. A lot of them came from charity shops in the first place, so I don't mind. Even got rid of a couple of language learning sets as I'll never get around to using them! I still have my Italian books, the French ones and a German Teach Yourself book which I might get around to one day. Here's hoping! Japanese is on the to-do list too...

My fingers feel all tingly for some reason. I'm just sat looking at my mealplan for the week ahead and using it to make my shopping list for tomorrow. I will stick to the list. I will stick to the list! I haven't managed to do my Pilates for a little while now, but I shall try again later this week if I feel up to it as I do feel better when I do it. While clearing out the books in the office I found a "Brain Training" book and have been leafing through it. Saw on one page that dark chocolate was good for you, so I don't feel so bad now. :D I caught myself earlier making plans for later in the year to go blackberrying, as I missed the chance to go last year. :) Strangely wistful tonight. Anyway, have a nice evening everyone. Take care (((Hugs))) to those in need.
