sitting on my new comfy chair in family room, watching 'Border Security' amazed at what some eejits will try & bring into the country!

had a good Sunday, fairly relaxed:
1.Went Barbeque shopping. There was one left with this house but it was seriously filthy....I had bribed DS to clean it when we first moved in but it was BAD! So we now have a nice ,shiny new one bought with vouchers (also a new handmixer for me as my one from UK only has one of the beaters moving .....and it's only 5 months old, bought for moving here, but not much I can do here!)
2.Got overcharged for white thread .......charged for 4 packs instead of for 4 pillows.......however noticed before I left the shop & got my money refunded! The pillows were a good buy.....only $2.10 (£1.30) they were reduced from $3. Pillows are just one of the many things that are very expensive here......usually about $18 (£11-ish) for a pillow. Was very shocked at this when we moved here. Anyway ,new ones will go in airing cupboard for when we have visitors.
Now I have thread I use my new sewing machine!
3.came home & pottered about tidying. Sometimes our weekends are full on 'doing something' so it's nice to be a bit more relaxed. Tidied my drawers out!
4.21o today.....just lovely, not too hot, just right for wee me! To be very warm rest of week though :( just have to get on with it though!
    5. Had a Chinese takeaway for dinner, which was a nice treat!

Enjoy your Sunday and keep posting about Spring emerging.......my favourite season!

    2. Using teapot to make a cracking cuppa in my matching cup and saucer.

  • Kittikins - it's great to hear how great everything is goibng with MrA :D
Newlywed - glad the tensions between you and DH are thawing a bit. I've had the same with my DH over the past few days but I know that ours was over the financial strain and job-hunting. Glad we are talking again as I was starting to feel very lonely in a full house.

    Here are mine for today:

    1) Our Scout leader had made a video of some of the past years scouting activity. Was full of pride watching all their achievements.
    2) A NSD
    3) Found more things to put on ebay and listed them today as it's a free-listing weekend.
    4) Making a pink ninja amigurumi doll for scout leader's daughter as a thankyou for having DS1 to tea and taking him kayaking. It turned out quite well - hope she'll like her.
    5) Roast chicken dinner.

    Wishing everyone a great week.

    Hi all

villagelife please tell me what's happening re. rugby, I have not watched it and even DH is not following it (but has "booked" time to watch England vs France in two weeks time).

Newlywed, glad to read that your OH is softening up, hope the situation gets resolved well for both of you.

Here are my pleasures for today:

    1 - Long lie in

2 - DH and I made it to the allotment and managed to do quite a bit of work before the rain and cold chased us back home!

3 - I picked (with permission) some kale and cavolo nero from a neighbour's allotment for tomorrow dinner with a friend.

4 - DS made dinner and it was delicious (and fitted well with my low carbing).

5 - DD and I watched the last 10 of the 100 most voted love songs on TV and had a lot of fun singing along and getting all soppy.

Tomorrow I have to be at the allotment very early as our local council are upping the rents by 200%, so someone has managed to get the BBC to come and visit us, I might be a TV diva, wotcha know!

    Good night everybody x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    5 for today (Sunday).

    1) Silly lie in. Let's just say it was the afternoon!

    2) Went to see my sister.

    3) Had tea at MrN's. :-)

    4) Sons came back from their father's OK and sat down and did all their homework with no fuss!!!

    5) Have done the Valentine thing. It's been many a long year since I did that! Sister made me go and get a card yesterday (it's not actually a Valentine's card but it has got a gadgety/sliding element that I liked). I found the planning and buying all incredibly embarrassing, don't know why. His favourite cake is in the oven as we speak so I have to think how to hand over the cake/card. Hide the card in the tin? Or will his sons then find it? Not give him the cake until tomorrow although I want him to take some to work with him while it's fresh? Oooo, it's a minefield! I don't know whether it'll be more awkward if he DOES give me a card or if he doesn't bother! I don't think he has got one, but then he has no idea that I have one for him....
  • Blimus I hope you enjoy every minute of Scouting, I deeply regret having to give up my leaders warrent due to lung prblems

Newlywed am pleased to hear of the thaw.

    Mine for today

Found several nice soup recipes for the 2 fennel bulbs Hubby bought for 4p each one uses mushrooms ( got some that need using - a bonus!

Steak, cabbage and baby new taters for lunch all yellow stickered

managed without oxygen for long enough to show hubby how to fry a decent steak on the cast iron griddle without turning it into boot leather by over cooking. ( not being able to use the gas hob all the time is a pain but better than blowing myself up along with half of gloucester.

A nice lazy afternoon with my feet up listening to music on mp3 and crocheting - it over 4 hours to do all nebs, meds, shower, dress, clear lungs, breakfast, insulin and change dressings on leg thismorning but felt a lot more human afterwards.

started planning veggie and herb prduction for next year and managed to find some veg containers at a reasonable price thanks to the greenfingered board.

Huggs to thats that need them

    love woggle

Caterina - I'm afraid that the score was England 59 Italy13

    My five for yesterday are

    1. Watching Kings speech at cinema with tesco vouchers. It was excellent film though DS2 preferred social network.

    2. A NSD

    3. Peaceful house enabling me to get on with cleaning my kitchen cupboards - which look great.

    4. Lunch of LO chicken and salads. Simple but very tasty.

    5. DS2 not going to rugby training as he needs 3 weeks off due to his concussion so I didn't have to stand in the rain!
