Hi CCP thanks for the welcome.

Banana bread was great. So easy to make, will definitely become a regular on the table. such a good way to use up over-ripe bananas. Never thought of it till i started looking in the forum.
  • Good evening all. I've been absent for a while due to laptop problems. Just been catching up on the posts. A recent five,
    1. Receiving cookies and flapjack through the post! - From someone special.
    2. Feeling a bit more positive.
    3. A certain someone cooking me a wonderful meal. :D
    4. Back to normal weight wise and it being noticed how much better I look for it.
    5. Dealing with a difficult parents evening with ex by putting on my killer heels and him literally having to look up to me!;)
    Love to all. X

Hi all and welcome to page 400 of this "new" thread!

Fairylittle, congratulations to your DS for getting the job, especially in this economic climate he must be really thrilled!

    Tealady
, well done to your DD for becoming a Guide leader!

A very warm welcome to MaLarkin!

Newlywed, sorry to hear about your sadness, hope that you can make up soon with your DH and that his dad gets well (((HUGS))).

    Beachbaby welcome back!

wogglemaker, glad that you are getting better.

A very good day for me today, even with the rain that puts a bit of a dampener on everything. Here are my pleasures:

1 - Started the day early by going to help my volunteering charity set up a stall at a mental health fair.

2 - Nice lunch with DD, greens soup, egg mayo with salad and a little piece of camembert. Still sticking to diet and feeling good on it.

3 - New hairdresser, as a model (of course!). Had a complete colour change, from the disaster that the previous hairdresser trainee had made of my hair (roots badly managed so my hair was in horizontal stripes), yellow bleached highlights, still some traces of orange in my fringe...not to mention the extortionate (for a model) price. This new hairdresser trainee is already qualified and only getting some practice in, she was really sure of what she was doing but at the same time supervised properly. She changed my highlights to lower colour, toned down, evened out, she did a fantastic job and for much less money than the previous one. I have booked 2 more appointments, naturally!

4 - Back home, DH and I went out for a curry (and I managed to stay clear of rice, poppadoms and naan breads!).

5 - DH and I are talking of going to Italy for 3 weeks this May, rather than 2 weeks in September as we always do. Now that he has 30 days annual leave with this new job we can do it, go backpacking around Italy! YIPPEEEEE!

    Good night everybody x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Sorry to hear you are feeling sad, Newlywed :-( hope things pick up for you NOW!

    Glad you are healing, Wogglemaker.

    5 for today (Friday).

    1) A pleasure right now - was shaking brick dust off the sofa cushions (it's still everywhere!) There is a thin double duvet on here to sit on so I shook that out and it felt very cold so I put it in the tumble dryer for 5 mins and am now on the sofa, under the warm duvet, with a hot water bottle and the laptop on my knees! Have run out of logs so haven't got the stove on but it is mild at the moment.

    2) MrN took my sons to school this morning.

    3) Went to Ikea and met my friend and her youngest. Was nice to have a chat and have lunch in the cafe.

    4) Got back here 2ish and had a good clear of the builder's rubble so it is easier for everyone to get down the alleyway between the houses. Had an admire of the work done so far as well.

    5) Had a bit of a nasty shock this afternoon when my sons went with MrN's son5 for a bike ride. They just go up the village to my mum's friend's where she has a really long tarmaced drive. I did a couple of jobs then walked over to check on them. Son5 had gone straight over the handlebars of his bike onto his eyebrow (which had split) then the bike had landed on the other side of his face. Luckily, the lady who lives there is very sensible and used to be a nurse so we sat in her kitchen for a bit and she said it wouldn't need stitches. Phew! So it was a pleasure she was in!

    6) Tea was rather nice.

    7) Little son had a really good day at school and got his bronze award (for work generally) then got the headteacher's award too! For contributing in class discussion, which is not bad for someone with selective mutism!

    8) After tea, MrN looked after all the boys for a bit so I had a bath in peace and made a couple of phone calls. Boys had a good time there.

Frith - I hope your son is feeling ok. Its horrible when they have an accident like that.

Newlywed - sending lots of hugs to you.

Had to go to a funeral so not a great day.

    My five are

    1. Sister phoning me for advice and actually taking notice of what I said. It doesn't happen often with my family.

    2. Seeing DS1 at the funeral and both DS's looking very smart and conducting themseves very well.

    3. Staying dry with the sun sort of appearing when we were outside at the funeral.

    4. A £50 cheque from survey site.

hello! will do both Friday & saturday's pleasures! (As it's nearly Sunday!)

Well I think we all woke up with a Thank Goodness It's Friday feeling yesterday! The night before had been very humid & was still 30o at 9pm. So an uncomfortable night!

    1. I had my first ever GP appointment over here, I had to pay $91 (£57) but will be able to claim some of that back.....then had to pay for my prescription, which was a lot more than the £3 I would have paid in Scotland.
I had got my knickers in a twist about going to see a new doctor & the different systems involved, however it was actually fine! I got a bus but it doesn't go the way I thought (& hoped) it went ,so had to get off in middle of suburbia with rising panic and ask at a wee shop for directions........cue 15 minute walk detour!

2.Glad to be in house after school, all chilled & relaxed after busy week of school!

    3. Nice easy tea ........well I had chocolate! But others had hot chicken & salad sandwiches.

    4. Nice bath, as it was pouring with rain I did not feel too guilty!

    5. I got a lovely letter from my friend with photos enclosed from our last night out together before I moved. She is the only one that writes (everyone else emails) so it is lovely to have 'proper' letters to read!

Today has been the most lovely day, warm , about 22o this afternoon, which suits me fine.
We went to the next but one town along from us. It has such a lovely atmosphere & we all enjoy visiting.
    1. Found a new to us cafe/bookstore. We had a lovely lunch in a very relaxing ,comfortable atmosphere. We had a favourite place back home & I think this might become our place out here!

    2. Did our weekly shop, pears for $1.99/kg. Refused to pay banana prices.......I know I go on a lot about bloomin' banana & apple prices but I am really shocked at the hike in price.

3.Came home, unpacked shopping. DS made 2 flat pack chairs we had bought in Aldi for family room. They are rather comfy and he earned $5 for making them!

4.Went to library, as dd1 had book to go back. Library email me when books are due which I like. OH dropped us girlies off & we went on internet! I (saddo) watched Casualty on Youtube! I,like Frith have always watched it & it's one programme I do miss. Well you should have seen the smile on my face as soon as I heard the theme tune (took my earphones!)

5.had a lovely simple dinner of HM potato wedges and a tortilla chips layered with cheese, onions ,mushrooms & bacon (baked in oven for 10 mins) and salad. Most delicious.

So a most lovely day, finished with a nice chat with my mum on skype (and a wee sad face when I saw my dog on webcam! I really do miss her!)

    Enjoy your weekend!
