    Evening all.

Please excuse any typos - my computer's playing up tonight and I'm trying to type quickly so I can get this posted before it crashes and I lose the whole post.

Purple kitten - WD on the interview - I hope you get the result you want. :)

villagelife - you've seen daffodils? WOO-HOO!! :j Signs of spring!

sparrer - I'm glad you're having a nice time. Make the most of the heat - there's not much of it in Britian at the moment. :(

Tealady - can I ask for your soup recipe, please? It sounds delicious.

wogglemaker - very well done on your weight loss. :T That's great news about the lung function test, too. :)

    Mine for today:

    1) A fire in a building near where I work. No-one was hurt (or it wouldn't have been any kind of pleasure at all, obviously), and the fire engines and emergency repair teams gave us something to watch other than rain.

    2) I didn't have time to make lunch this morning (:o), so I bought myself a chilli cheese sarnie. I haven't had chilli cheese sandwich filling in ages and had forgotten how much I like it - I'm now planning on making a batch over the weekend for sandwiches next week.

    3) A new series of Hairy Bikers on later.

    4) Something from the freezer for dinner. I'm not sure exactly what type of Something it is - I really must label things :o - but I can see chickpeas and chunks of aubergine so I'm guessing it's some sort of veggie stew.

    5) More cuddles with puddy tat when I got home.

    Phew, made it!
Back after a very long break!
  • CCP thanks for the head up on a new hairy bikets prog

    1. Did a Reverbe and found 2p on the street :)
    2. Went clothes shopping in a panic and have ended up with a lovely dress that hopefully will be suitable for my night out on Saturday
    3. Good day at work, even though I was feeling more than a little under the weather after wine last night.....
    4. Lovely chat with MrA and the anticipation of seeing him tomorrow :):)
    5. Not very MS, but got my eyebrows threaded this afternoon and feel much better for it!
  • 1) Clean house and clean sheets to get into tonight. Managed to dry them outside.
    2) Local Oxfam very helpful in trying to provide shirt buttons for craft club at school. Also managed to buy some embroidery thread for me, some thank you notes for 99p and other bits and bobs for very little, considering what it would have cost in a 'real' shop.
    3) Went to the allotment and came out with a washing up bowl full of potatoes and some strawberry runners, which have gone in the garden. Still a couple of cabbages to come and then I can start planting for this season.
    4) Evening meal of casserole and mash, using the above potatoes and some wrinkly veg. It tasted all right.
    5) Have recently made myself some felt heart brooches. It's easy enough - two heart shapes joined together with blanket stitch and a couple of fancy buttons on top. They cost me nothing as I have lots of craft scraps but I've had one or two nice comments about them.

Friday morning......we all have that Friday feeling, end of the first full week back at school & early rises! However.......here are Thursday's pleasures:
1.Walked dd2 to school and then walked even further to find GP surgery to register & make appointment......the pleasure was finding that 'my bus' came out that way, so nipped on bus on way back & went into the next town!
2.Had a lovely mooch around shops........all by myself! on my own! No-one else to consider! Getting the picture! It was lovely just to have a wander in & out the shops I wanted to go in & take my time. Bought a few reduced items & have put away as Christmas gifts.......as apparently, according to shops, summer is nearly over & autumn/winter is on it's way! As it was still 30o at 9pm last night I think I'll be wearing teeshirts for a wee while yet!
3.Got bus home & had a potter about & made a banana loaf( now a luxury food item!) had to motivate myself to keep going as it was so humid & hot & energy sapping.
4.Nice family dinner, first one this week as OH has been in a bit later than usual, so nice for us all to sit down together & have spag bol & chocolate ice cream!
    5. Went to a different supermarket than usual for top up of milk & bread. It was nice & bright ,cheaper in some things but not in others. Got pears for $1.99/kg.........think pears might be the new apples & bananas! (well for this week anyway!) Got home, had somehow left a bag of shopping behind. Phoned the store & they had it, so had to pop back out in lightning storm to get it!

The checkout assistants all say hello, they ask you how your day has been or will be, they stand at all times & they pack your bags for you! Bit different to UK, so I reckon he still had my bag after I had paid rather than me forgetting a whole bag of food!

    Enjoy your evening!

    Hi all

Sparrer, good to hear from you, happy holidays! x

Here are my pleasures for today:

1 - DS made breakfast, another lovely mix vegetable frittata.

2 - More house cleaning, the house is looking great!

3 - Went to the gym with my friend, this is the first time that I go to the gym proper rather than the old ladies keep fit class!

4 - Resisted the impulse to weigh myself as I only want to go on the scales once a week.

5 - As DD was away I took advantage of her absence to cook a really lovely fish dinner. DH and DS loved it (me too!). DH commented that it was even better than the restaurant dinner we had the other day!

    Good night everybody x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

I haven't been at my best the last few days but here are my 5 for today:

    1) Woken by the builders again this morning. The garden side of the house is pretty much done! There was much debate about the corners and the chimney (one builder said they would have to get some props as the corner was "like a game of buckaroo"!) I have taken some photos for before and after but the laptop is refusing to let me put them on FB or even look at them...

    2) Did lots of little admin jobs. Found the direct debit for NPower had been given the wrong account number (not by me) so my money has been going off into the ether.

    3) Got the new phone working. (£15 per month for unlimited internet, free calls to landlines, free calls to another Orange phone and quite a few texts).

    4) Made a rather basic tea which all boys set upon with gusto.

    5) Quite a few texts and a chat with MrN. Don't know if he will pop in later.

    6) Had a bit of a clean tonight - everything thick with brick dust. Cleaned all the bathroom, landing, stairs (they're wood), some window sills, kitchen and kitchen floor. And hoovered the living room.

    7) Organised to meet a friend of mine tomorrow in Ikea Wednesbury. :-D
