    Afternoon all,

    Hope you are all well.

So my pleasures from this weekend...

    1) Walked to the station yesterday and back this morning (2 miles each way). I have lived in my place for nearly 4 years and this is the first time I have walked back from the station... bad Ladyhawk! So I saved £10 on a taxi and got some excersise in.

    2) Went to my lovely friend G's housewarming yesterday evening. It was quite fun even though I didn't really know anyone there. I feel very guilty though as I fell asleep on G's bed which relegated him and his boyfriend to the sofa bed!

    3) Cleaned my fridge completely and defrosted the freezer. I've been meaning to do that for ages and am feeling a rather pleased with myself.

    4) Done all my washing - 4 loads this weekend! Phew!

    5) Seeing the first snow drops... spring is nearly here!!!

    Have a great week everyone!

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Evening all. Hope you've all had a pleasant Sunday.

    Mine for today:

    1) Another long lie-in this morning. It's just so hard to find a reason to get up early when the weather's this unpleasant. :o

    2) A nice chat to my mum on the phone, including the news that my grandmother's had her offer on a house accepted, so she's one step nearer to moving to be close to my parents. :)

    3) HM banana flapjack for a mid-afternoon snack.

    4) The wind's finally died down a bit so my cat's spent the afternoon asleep rather than nervously following me around the flat, tripping me up every time I turn round. smiley-rolleyes010.gif

    5) Treated myself to some bits off Amazon using some survey vouchers which I've had sitting around since before Christmas...

    6) ...then went on to the survey site and ordered another £35-worth. I love doing surveys! :D

Have a pleasant Sunday evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

    Hello All!

I have been waiting for the house to be quiet before allowing myself the luxury of posting my pleasures. Life is so busy at the moment, and DH so disapproving if I linger on the forums, I had to wait until he set off to DMiL. :rotfl:

    1. House is quiet. :)

    2. Made progress with house cleaning, washing and even made 2 lots of Gloop. Nice to do housewifely things properly for a change, instead of just trying to stem the tide of chaos!!!

    3. DM's birthday today, but she cancelled us going up to Liverpool to see her, due to the bad weather forecast. Hence, time to spend on housework. The pleasure is not having to do the drive. (And put up with her behaviour!)

    4. Found a brand new Benneton coat on a second hand stall at the market yesterday. 80% wool, cream colour with the tags still attatched. £7 :j DH also had a bit of luck at Oxfam where he bagged 2 designer shirts.

    5. DS2 had a good report from school. He seems to be making some progress with reading and writing at last. Very proud mummy. :) Unfortunately, we can.t say the same for DS1 who is now grounded until his GCSEs are over.

Can't quite belive I have found 5, and none of them food related Primrose! It must be a record for me!!!

Time to start cooking. Have a lovely evening. I have that Sunday night feeling you used to have when you were at school and hadn't done your homework. This is not good if you are the teacher!:D HE xxx

    1. DD feels much better today after a nasty ear ache last night that caused her a lot of tears and slurping of painkillers :(
    2. Have eaten reasonably healthily today.....(I'll forget about the packet of chocolate buttons....)
    3. Am hoping that MrA will grace me with his presence this evening, send good thoughts please, I would dearly love to see him (so greedy, have seen him 4x this week but I'd like a nice round 5, lol) :):)UPDATE - no visit tonight, he's tired, but I'm happy to be patient :)
    4. MrA's son has sorted out a technical facebook problem we were having, good boy!
    5. DD playing with a friend whilst I'm cooking dinner, lovely to hear them monkeying about
    6. Low spend day, bought yummy cheeses and fruit. No need to buy anything bar possibly milk this week - let's see how long that resolve lasts....
    7. Feeling really, truly happy and secure in my life this weekend. A blissful feeling. Ok, there are lots of things that are niggly around me, but when I just look at my situation, I feel wonderful! Hope my positivity will rub off on anyone reading this who is feeling low or stressed, I've got plenty of sunbeams to share xx

    Hi again all

Kittikins, I hope your DD gets well soon, I remember having my DS suffering terrible earaches as a child (eventually he had to have grommets) and it is really a sad thing to see your child feel so much pain!

Here are my pleasures for today:

1 - All of DH's cousins (from one side of the family) and his dear auntie came to London to celebrate his birthday, it was good to see him so loved and valued!

2 - We had lunch at the local Nepalese restaurant, it was great, they had done it up really nicely, with balloons and stars on the tablecloth. We really appreciated the extra nice gesture!

3 - The food was delicious and I managed to stick to low carb choices (still can't believe that I am on a diet, eating all these nice things!).

4 - All came back home for a cup of tea before departing again (most of them came down from Yorkshire!) and we took pictures and chatted, very pleasant afternoon.

5 - Once all left DH and I went for a nice refreshing walk to the park - but too dark to go IN the park in case we got locked in!

6 - 5pm, I noticed it was not quite dark! It is so good to see the days getting longer!

    Good night everybody x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • For today and yesterday (days off):

1 Slept well last night. The night before the wee cat woke me three times in the early hours. She has an ingenous way of getting my attention:she pushes things off shelves.I tell you,the books were flying about!I ended up putting her in the 'cooler'.

    2 Managed some more decluttering.

3 Went running.Have managed out four times this week and today managed at a slightly faster pace.

4 Watched the film 'Charade' today, one of my dvds.Really enjoyed it.

5 Made three pots of lemon curd, one for me and the two others for friends.

Hope you all have a good evening x

Some more pleasures for me today:

    1. The ribs were a big success. I made two types - one with a shop bought BBQ marinade and the others with a homemade Chinese-style marinade, and was told DH and DMiL both preferred my home-made marinaded ones. That's some good soulbalm.
    2. Some good friends popped over to see us and we spent a pleasant half hour or so chatting. It was good to have a catch-up, even a short one.
    3. I've been hungry a lot lately (in contrast, I guess, to the recent lack of appetite) and that is starting to subside.
    4. A nice hot bath, leaving me feeling very relaxed.
    5. I've not had a single cup of coffee all day so am starting my caffeine cutback again - yay.

Marmite - do you have a recipe for the lemon curd? It's something I'd like to give a try. :)
Caterina - what's Nepalese food like? I'm intrigued. :) Well done on sticking to something low carb!
Kittikins - I love your positivity and get a warm and fuzzy glow from reading your post ((hugs))
House Elf - Way to go on finding designer clothes at the market. I still remember when I found a designer bag in a charity shop, ah happy day. :)
CCP - the banana flapjacks sound lovely! Which recipe do you use, if you don't mind my asking? :)
Ladyhawk - getting things clean is such a good feeling! Although you remind me that I too need to clean out my fridge.. ;)
Primrose - Most of my pleasures involve food, and while I try to concentrate on other things, I am one of those people that looks forward to the next meal :D

Hope everyone has a good evening. Here's hoping the wind dies down a bit here - take care everyone.

    KB xx

  • Kitchenbunny here is my lemon curd recipe:

    55g sugar
    25g butter
1 fresh egg-balancers removed and lightly beaten
    1 lemon-juice and zest

You can make this in the microwave,on 'Medium' ;very important as 'High' or 'Medium-High' is too much for the egg.

Mix together in a bowl, then cook on Medium for blasts of one minute at a time, stirring the mixture after each blast. It can take 4-6 minutes for the mixture to start thickening. If you've done 5 minutes and it's still quite liquid, you can then do 30 seconds at a time.

Once it has thickened, pour into sterilised jars, let cool and then store in fridge. It will continue to thicken on cooling. Will keep for 3 weeks.

You can also make it with a bain-marie,but this takes about 45 minutes of continual stirring. You are less likely to get lumps of cooked egg-white that you have to pick out if you use this method.

Very important-the mixture has to have thickened before bottling it!

Let me know how it turns out.

    5 for today (Sunday).

    1) Bit of a lie in.

    2) Lots of loafing around - still in dressing gown when my sister called round and she is a lark, not an owl! But no tutting from her today.

    3) Read yesterday's Guardian.

    4) Played the piano a bit.

    5) MrN took my car for a run to find out what the clunking noise is. It was a bit embarrasing because he phoned me up (whilst he was still sitting outside the house in my car) to ask if the petrol gauge works.... erm.... yes, there just is no petrol in it! So he put some in (hangs head in shame).

    6) School friend of mine came round for tea.

    7) Made Queen of Puddings. Not quite sure it was worth the faff but tasty nonetheless and smaller son liked using the electric whisk to make the meringue topping.

    8) Got the bath already run so going in there now then will sit by the stove and listen to the Archers and see if MrN comes round for a cup of tea. :-)
