5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

A quick post to note my pleasures before a day of cleaning starts:
1. An NSD! Haven't had many of those in a while, but that makes me want to dance happily.
2. I made some mocha pots using 6 eggs, a bar and a half of dark chocolate, a bit of rum and some coffee. Right now, there are 6 of the little mousse-things in the freezer and I've cleared my cupboards of the glass ramekins that were taking up shelf space.
3. While making them, you have to whisk the egg whites to stiff peaks. I remembered hearing somewhere about if you can hold it over your head, they're stiff enough. So I tried it ... and didn't end up with egg on my face.
4. An afternoon off yesterday. I feel a bit more relaxed.
5. Keeping up the Pilates. Slowly feel like I'm losing some of the bad posture I've gained.
Have a good holiday, sparrer, and I hope everyone has a good day.

Nearly bedtime here in Oz!
1. A better day than yesterday! Went food shopping & got a new sewing machine that I've had my eye on. It was already a good price but then had a further $40 off.......full of inspiration to use it! I used to sew all the time but my last machine had broken & I'd never got it fixed so didn't bring it with us!
2.A lot of localised flooding in many suburbs but luckily not ours. We have had lovely fresh air all day. A much cooler 20o, it's amazing but that actually does feel cool!
3.Went for a nice lunch in nearby town.
4.had a lovely chat with my sister on skype and saw one of my cats(she took the 2 of them ) he gave us a wave with his paw! (dd1 was upset seeing him)
5.Got a new pile of books & mags at library this afternoon, and popped into op shop and got a couple of sewing/ patchwork magazines for $1.
Not so pleasureable was paying over the odds for bananas. A bunch of bananas cost me about £5 today. I am horrified that I can't afford something as simple as apples & bananas. It is such a staple fruit in our house. There are other cheaper fruits available but I am shocked!
Kids were told to make the most of their £1 apples!
My banana loaf would be a luxury instead of a weekly make
Anyway ....have a good Saturday,
night from me x0 -
5 for yesterday (Friday).
1) 2 very silly solicitor's letters from the ex, just to remind me how stupid he is.
2) Went swimming with my brother.
3) Was summoned twice by one of MrN's sons (who was ill at home yesterday) - so I can't be THAT bad! Or perhaps some company is better than none.
4) Listened to the News Quiz on iplayer over the noise of the gale.
5) MrN came round. Things seem a bit tense at the moment but it was the end of a pretty trying week.0 -

Evening everyone,
What a day - am going to struggle a bit to think of 5 - but it'll do me good. My washer/dryer broke down yesterday, and this morning I couldn't get the pilot light lit on the CH boiler. Both are now fixed, but it's cost me an arm and a leg  Maybe I should have kept up the servicecare agreement with British Gas - but it hasn't gone wrong in over 3 years, and what I would have paid in premiums would have been far more than the repair bill. Enough of that....
1) House is now lovely and warm again, now the boilers fixed
2) Won't have to go to the launderette now the washer/dryer is fixed
3) Fish and chips for tea - I need comfort food, and blow the diet
4 Filed away a lot of paperwork while waiting around for repairmen
5 Puddy tat happy to have me back to herself now all the jobs are done
Hope everyone's well,
Pam x0 -
5 for yesterday (Friday).
1) 2 very silly solicitor's letters from the ex, just to remind me how stupid he is.
Wasting his own money...now that is silly:rotfl:
Haven't been able to do it for a while as a family bereavement rather robbed me of my sense of humour, but...
1. Day at home, and coffee in bed this morning.
2. Being with my girls after two days away.
3. NSD, though DH bought the Grauniad, which I enjoyed.
4. Sainsbury's basics 17p a tin soup for lunch, yum.
5. Put a whole bathroom in my basket on a few bathroom websites, and just looked at them;)Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
Evening all, from a wet and very windy Portsmouth - it sounds like most other people have already had this weather, so you know what's currently battering at my windows!
frugalpam - it sounds like you've had quite a day of it! I'm glad it's all been fixed now, albeit at vast cost.
mhagster - at the price of that fruit! I'd really stuggle to cope with that - I love apples and would hate to have to do without them, but that's a heck of a price to pay for them!
Kitchenbunny - hope The Day of Cleaning went well. (It sounds like the title of a film, doesn't it? Hmmm... perhaps not, on second thoughts!)
beachbaby - I quite agree with you about the scariness of strong winds. It's one of the few things I dislike about living on the coast.
savingforoz - hola! I'm very glad to hear you're having such a good time.
My 5 for today:
1) A very long lie-in this morning. I apparently was exceptionally tired yesterday, as I ended up sleeping for more than 12 hours last night.:o
2) Received a £25 M&S voucher in the post from doing surveys. That's the new pair of trousers I need for work sorted out, anyway.
3) Popped into Asda at lunchtime - not a shop I'd usually visit but I wanted one of their made-to-order pizzas for dinner - and found they had bath towels on special offer, which was handy as I've been saying for weeks I need a new one.
4) Made some very OS banana muesli flapjacks from two over-ripe bananas, some muesli I bought months ago and didn't like, and the remains of a bottle of maple-flavour syrup I've had so long I can't remember when or where I bought it.The results are very tasty for something made out of bits that would otherwise have ended up in the bin.
5) Not going out tonight. I was meant to be going out for a friend's birthday tonight but she decided she couldn't afford to go so it got cancelled - seeing what the weather's like, it's turned out to be a very good thing!
6) Pizza for dinner.
Have a nice evening, everyone.Back after a very long break!0 -

2. DD eventually had fun at a party, took her a long time to stop being shy
3. Made some yummy banana cakes to use up over-ripe nanas
4. Looking forward to a nice glass of wine once I get DD up to bed
5. Helpful advice from nice people on here
6. Lovely texts from MrA0
