    Evening

    Pleasures for today,
    1. Up early and picked up a parcel from the post office which turned out to be some crisps to trial. I'm not keen but DD likes them
    2. Bought some fresh bread rolls from the local bakery so had bacon rolls when got back from post office
    3. With friends did a 10 mile power walk around Virgnia Water. Good walk and beautiful surroundings, though am aching now
    4. Walked to local town with DD and managed to get OH birthday presents. Have really struggled with what to get him but managed today
    5. Fake-out night at home with burgers and chips.

Hugs to all who need them

    Hello, Whizzer01!

    Anyway, 5 for today!

    1) Nice phone call from the builder. He didn't come today (due to the gale and our house being very high up indeed) but might come tomorrow.

    2) Went swimming with sons and my brother.

    3) Walked to the pub with sons (about 2.5 miles each way). VERY windy and a very high point in the county...

    4) Fish and chips for tea.

    5) Really thought tonight's episode of Casualty was marvellous - very well written and captivating. I have watched it since it started and thought it had gone downhill recently (hammy acting and over the top storylines).

    6) Haven't seen MrN all day (which is almost impossible!) but have had a pile of logs left outside from him while we were out at the pub and hope to see him later.

    3. Italy nearly winning in the six nations.

    4. Lovely evening in withDH and DS2.

    5. Readind more of my book.
  • Morning all, hope you're having a nice Sunday so far. Here's my pleasures:

    1. Sleeping myself out. For the first time in ages I have woken up when I want.
    2. A cheapish lunch today - I had a couple of packs of ribs in the freezer from Mr M which I shall put in BBQ marinade and serve it with some fried rice and maybe a few little sweetcorn pancakes (that will finally use up the tin of sweetcorn that has been in the pantry since I don't know when!).
    3. The cleaning day went well! I do like being able to set aside part of a week to do the cleaning.

Can't think of anymore, although I'm sure there were some. Hope everyone has a good day (((hugs)))

    Good evening from me!

We have had a much cooler day, about 18o.......suits me fine but when you think it was more than double that last Sunday, it's quite a drop in temp. The forecast for week ahead is low 20's....so that will make me happier than being all hot & bothered!

    1. first thing was a skype call from a friend , so that was a nice way to start the day.
2.managed to dodge the heavy early morning showers & got my washing dry, ironed & away.
3.got dd2 new desk & chair for her bedroom. My job for the next few days is to sort her room out...she has so much 'girlie' stuff! Which at the moment is in the bath & in the hall. So I will tackle that when they are at school!
4.had a nice dinner of veg soup, steak pie & roast potatoes......all home made & all very delicious!
    5. a nice evening spent sorting out photos from last weekend. I try & send some every few weeks to my in laws as they don't have internet so we can't email them. Put some in a frame & some in an album & some to send. Most relaxing!

Hope you all enjoy your Sunday,

    A Thousand Virtual Welcomes, whizzer01.

Oh, villagelife - I know exactly how infuriating it is to lose posts.
    ################
Sorry that I keep starting with...........
    1. Another day..........but that's how it is atm and the void is constant.
    2. At Charity Showroom yesterday. Functioned passing well for the world at large. We cleared the old toyroom for another group to use for 'drop-in Tuesdays'. Yet another group were in disbelief that we were giving them cages of things gratuit. They'll be sorted for Roumania and The Shoebox Appeal.
    3. H/m bacon and egg pie was good - many offers to buy a slice, but it's what I take over for lunch/munch. We did surprisingly well and thankfully contrasted yesterday's milder temps with Tuesday, when I could not make fingers keep hold of pen, whole self being so frozen.
    4. mummy? is in a cruel and dark place atm, needing comfort and solace which we can only try to give by being available day and night. Bless her friend J who is on hand atm.
    5. Will post 2 apple trees, half-hearted growers, on Freecycle, ahead of arrival of Braeburn.
    6. Was back in time for glorious France vs Scotland last night, after my failure to coach Wales[in my alter-kiwi guise of WG]to triumph over the Angles. Rip-roaring games, both. Should be cathartic, but the à deux element makes it so much more fun.
    7. Some untroubling reading - a heap of Alan Titchmarsh to skim through, as I'm still holding back on finishing 'Nobbut a Lad', among usual Land of Counterpane stack of current reading. Will also relish the Bloodaxe Book of Contemporary Woman Poets, but the trouble with so much poetry I fall to atm is how rawly vulnerable it leaves me. Nature of Beast etc.etc.
    8. Bought eggs from village Mick's girls - always pleasurable, although still have other place girls/egg collection resonating.
    9. Have crept past 5 things for 1st time since.....

    Hi all

mhagster, it must be so scary to have all that flooding and bad weather, hope you and your family stay safe!

savingforoz, you flatter me! I only know English because I studied it for years and have been living here since 1983! Looking forward to seeing you again when you are back.

beachbaby, sorry to hear about your difficulties with D(?)H, I hope that everything gets sorted for the best (((HUGS)))

Frith, I have to agree with previous posting by Ampersand, the tone of your postings really is a pleasure, you sound so much happier, keep up the good work!

gratefulforhelp, I am sorry to hear about your family bereavement.

    whizzer01, welcome to the thread!

villagelife, what's all that cheering about Italy and the 6 Nations? Are you of the Italian persuasion by any chance? If yes, parliamo Italiano!:T There are others here who are keen on learning so we can give them something to study :rotfl:

I had a bit of a hellish day yesterday, healthwise, but it is to be expected, I was on the 5th day of my low carb diet and everybody warns you about that milestone. Coupled with an incoming cold it was a bit of a yuck day, however I found some pleasures all the same and here they are:

1 - I have made it to day 5 of my diet and even if I did not feel great, I have made it so far (usually my diets fold on the evening of day 1 so this is a real achievement!) and still no struggle, no cravings, no hunger!

2 - Because of feeling under the weather I spent most of the day in bed, reading magazines.

3 - DH had also a restful afternoon, he slept from 2pm till nearly 8pm!Glad he did, as he is usually on the go and it is good for him to have a good rest now and then.

4 - Even feeling grotty at one point I started getting cabin fever and had to get away, esp. as DH was snoring near me and going on my nerves :rotfl:so I walked to the shops and did some much needed shopping (Mind you I felt like hell afterwards but at least I have put in my daily walk!).

5 - DS cooked a lovely dinner, veggie bolognese sauce, they had it with pasta and I had it on runner beans, so I stayed on course, too!

Off now, today DH family are coming to London to celebrate his 60th birthday (which is tomorrow but Sunday is easier for everyone) so I got to get ready, we are going to have lunch at the local (lovely) curry house.

Have a good Sunday, see you later for today's pleasures.

Edited to say: Just saw Ampersand's post (beat me to the post, literally!). It is good to see so many pleasures from you, Ampersand! x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Hope you've all survived the heavy winds. Good drying weather, but if you can only keep the clothes firmly fixed to the washing line ! This week-end's pleasures:

    1. Nice afternoon tea get-together with some former work friends.
    2. Getting The King's Speech book from our local library - haven't managed to see the film yet.
    3. Learning that somebody I know had come out badly bruised but relatively unscathed from a serious road accident which had involved her and her passengers having to be cut out of the car. Thank heavens for seat belts and air bags!
    4. Making marmalade all morning for a local fund raising event. Satisfying feeling to know that one is doing one's bit but wish more people could contribute to these affairs.
    5. Nice rack of lamb and roast potatoes & parnsips about to go into the oven for lunch. (Have you noticed how many of our simple pleasures seem to revolve around food? They certainly do in our house.)
