Wow, what a lovely delight, discovering you have £60 as kind of pennies from heaven :)
  • Frith I have logged on especially to comment on 7), but have got to address the flapjack thing!!!!

CCP - my flapjacks are always rubbish! To the point my sons are used to eating the little particles of them with a spoon.

This is a link to what I use...........'tho' with 5 boys to cater for I have changed the ingredients to:
10oz oats 8oz brown demerrera sugar (or 6 oz dem & 2oz soft brown) 10oz butter/stork/utterly butterly/whatever + 1 tablespoon of syrup if you like
The tin I use is a 13 x 10 inch roasting tin and I use 1 of those oven liner sheets instead of greasing it. 12 mins in a fan oven @ 180C (They want to be golden-not brown) Mark out slices with knife when you take out of oven. Leave in tin to cool (Hide from boys at this stage ;))

    7) Oh yes, had to laugh at smaller son! He was sent out of assembly for putting his hands in his pockets. For someone with behavioural problems, this really isn't a big deal... Anyway, he was sent to the Head (!) who, bless her, said, "I don't think you need to worry about it, C - off you go". :-)

I still giggle at 'The Globe Factory' comment (from DS1 ?) I can just picture the whole scene and it ALWAYS makes me giggle out loud :D

Dundeedoll - thanks for the recipe! Do you have 5 boys?

Kittikins - I was very good and put the £60 in my bank.

Thanks for all kind comments and DS2 is fine, just a mild headache, and had the day at home from school but will be going back today.

My other pleasures for yesterday are

Tidying up the house and more decluttering.

Tea of sausages, potato wedges and roasted veg. All homemade.

    Reading more of my book.

While we all run around chasing our tails, trying desperately to work, do the housework, look after our OH, children etc (perhaps even ourselves!) and of course in light of recent very sad events - RIP MSD - let's remember this:

    S L O W D A N C E:

    Have you ever watched kids
    on a merry-go-round
    Or listened to the rain
    slapping on the ground?

    Ever followed a butterfly's erratic
    flight
Or gazed at the sun into the fading
    night?

    You better slow down
    Don't dance so fast
    Time is short
    The music won't last

Do you run through each day on the
    fly
When you ask "How are you?"
    do you hear the reply?

    When the day is done,
do you lie in your bed
    With the next hundred chores
    running through your head?

    You'd better slow down
    Don't dance so fast
    Time is short
    The music won't last

    Ever told your child,
    We'll do it tomorrow
And in your haste, not see his
    sorrow?

    Ever lost touch,
    Let a good friendship die
    'Cause you never had time
    to call and say "Hi"?

    You'd better slow down
    Don't dance so fast
    Time is short
The music won't last When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting
    there.
When you worry and hurry through your
    day,
It is like an unopened gift....
    Thrown away...

    Life is not a race.
    Do take it slower
    Hear the music
    Before the song is over.

Dundeedoll:that's a lovely poem, we should all live for today!

Tuesday evening here, has been another pleasant day, warm without being too hot and another cool start to the day! Clothes shops are starting to get their 'autumn 'clothing ranges in.......mmmmm, think I'll be wearing teeshirts for a wee bit longer!

1.Nice walk to school this morning, popped into school to see when my help is required.....so that's tomorrow morning taken care off! Nice walk home. I put my ipod on & stride home to the beat!
2.All tidied up ....again! A never ending task! I went for the bus to next town but thought I had missed it so crossed over to get bus for our 'town'.....what came along? The bloomin' bus going the other way! Heh ho! Meant I didn't spend as much money! Bought a big bunch of rhubarb for only $3.00 Not sure what I'll do , my rhubarb & ginger jam is nearly done so might have to make some more!
3.Walked to get dd2 from school, saw parrots & dragonflies as big as my hand, beautiful butterflies & the most beautiful flowers.
4.Home to find dd1 had made the most tasty cakes at school. They were actually nicer than my own and whilst not terribly pretty as they had been shaken about in a school bag coming home they were exceptionally light & delicious!
5.Got reasonably priced apples in local supermarket (Spar like )....it's usually more expensive than big supermarkets. However on news today it was announced bananas will be selling for $12.99 a kg. Considering I have been paying $1.99/kg in Aldi it's a big hike! Thats £8.20 a kg!

I hope you all have a good day.

    Hi all,

Kitchenbunny, Nepalese food is similar to a lot of Indian foods, but spicier and they have some typical variations, mostly in the meat department so I would not know as I do not eat meat. However, to judge from our local restaurant it is very very nice. I had them to cater for my 50th birthday party at home and it was liked so much that someone else asked them to do the same for their party!

Villagelife, I am glad to hear that your DS is not hurt. Thank you for supporting my country!

Here are my pleasures for yesterday:

1 - DH 60th birthday, he loved the fancy jacket I got for him (which he really wanted, had tried and decided not to buy because too expensive). I thought, OS is working for me, this is why I am so careful with the pennies, to be able to afford the odd luxury, so I got it for him and he absolutely loved it. So what if it is more expensive than the usual stuff we buy, he works so hard, he really deserves a treat, and one is not 60 every day!

2 - Good, hard keep fit class (there was a substitute teacher - the usual one does a very boring class unfortunately), really challenged me. If I had one like this every week I would get really fit!

3 - First weigh-in (on gym scales) since before starting low-carbing. Guess what: lost 4lbs/2Kg (not too clear as it is not the best of scales) well whatever the exact weight is, I am losing and that's what matters YIPPEEEEE!!!!!!!!

4 - DD, DD's BF and DS put together a lovely chair that they got for their dad in Ikea (another of those things that he always wanted and never got around to get). Of course, it is going to become the cats' chair if we are not vigilant hehe. They also bought him a bottle of Black Grouse whisky.

5 - DD's BF bought tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella to contribute to the dinner, that was very kind of him.

6 - Then as I was absolutely wiped out by running around all day he drove me to M&S to get a bouquet of red roses for DH's birthday.

7 - DD and DS cooked dinner, a lovely kale and spinach bake and of course mozzarella and tomato salad, all of which I could have, then they had chocolate fudge cake (shop bought) and instead I had a tbsp cream mixed with a tsp cocoa so I did not feel left out.

8 - DH's face when he opened the door and saw the armchair in the living room. It was such a pleasure for all of us to give him gifts, he works so hard selflessly for all of us and never wants anything extravagant. It was great to be able to spoil him for a change.

I am not going to be able to put today's pleasures on later because I am going out, another surprise treat for DH, will post details tomorrow with relevant pleasures.

Have a good evening everybody. x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Dundee doll, what a lovely poem. It was just what I needed to read today.

    1) Enjoyed my coffee sitting in the garden. Sunshine lifts the spirits.
    2) Handed in some books to the charity shop.
    3) Had nice chats with a couple of neighbhours on the way home.
    4) Sorted my head out ready for eldest ds's parents night. Realised I need to cut him some slack.
    5) Making a cottage pie for dinner and made some extra for the freezer.

  • Having spent most of the last six months in hospital with lung problems, I am hopefuly on the upward path and slowly getting used to being tethered to an oxygen cylinder.

here's some of my recent OS pleasures.

1 The lovely guys in the Critical Care Unit looking after me so wonderfully.

2 All the help recieved to get equipment to cope with lifes necessities.

3 Bootsie cat finaly deciding to sit on our laps for a cuddle, even lying on her back so we can groom her tummy.

4.Hubby finaly agreeing to a housework rota that he DD and I can work on togeather.

5 oh not arguing too much at the bits and bobs I've bought to make life easier.

    6. quick lamb stew worked well, - value Breast of lamb (a very lean one) a fresh value veg mix, and some soaked soup mix teft over from the scotch broth made earlier. not having too many veg to prep saved a lot of energy.
