    Evening all.

Sorry I've been absent for a few days - I've been busy / unwell / tired / depressed (not all at once, thank goodness!). I haven't caught up on everyone's posts yet, so I can only hope you're all well.

I'm hoping that listing pleasures again will lift my mood, which has been quite low over hte past few days. :( So,

    1) My attempt to step away from OSness (OSidity?) has derailed after less than 3 days - I just can't stop myself turning the heating down and freezing or planning uses for leftovers. It's a relief to find it comes so naturally, really!

    2) Deciding not to place an order on Approved Foods. There were several things I would have liked but nothing I needed, and the delivery charge meant I would have saved less than £2 if I'd gone ahead and ordered - saving myself the entire cost by not placing an order seemed a better plan! :money:

    3) Being safe and warm inside on a miserable night. (Although it's obviously not nearly as bad as in Queensland - my thoughts are with anyone out there at the moment.)

    4) Pasta with sausage and tomato sauce for dinner, and I'm making enough to have the rest for lunch tomorrow.

    5) Managing to not electrocute myself on a faulty extension cable - more by luck than judgement, I admit! (The sparks were rather pretty, though, in a terrifying sort of way. ;))

Kitchenbunny - you're so lucky seeing a kingfisher - I've never seen one properly (only as a blue blur on its way to somewhere else) so I'm really quite jealous.

Frith - your repaired wall looks great - the builders have obviosuly done an excellent job.

Caterina - I'm glad you had a nice time in Cornwall. :)

    Have a pleasant evening, everyone.
Back after a very long break!

    (((hugs))) Ampersand, Frith and CCP

    1. Have been set up with a new work laptop which has a great battery life (and a spare one!!) so I can be fully wireless again, yippee :)
    2. Got a lift to voluntary placement at lunchtime, saving my petrol and space in the school car park!
    3. Had a fabulous French lesson, was really proud of the children and how hard they worked :)
    4. Had been missed by people at work as I'd actually been in the office since last Wednesday! Have worked from home/other offices since then.....
    5. Got some random freebies when I went to Boots at lunchtime, might come in handy!
    6. Hopefully have put a little smile on MrA's face as I texted him details of a farming programme all about pigs, which apparently is his pipedream to have a pig and chicken farm, lol. As I'm veggie, apparently I'll be in charge of the chickens (yeah, right!!)
    7. Spendy day but not too bad, HAD to have diet coke this morning to pep me up as I slept badly again :(
    8. Listened to an interesting programme on iplayer about insomnia so am going to put a couple of things into practice tonight, please hope they work for me, I feel like death warmed up, don't want MrA to think I'm a ghost!
    9. DD was given dinner by a friend and had fun playing with other children, we shared a bottle of ginger beer and put the world to rights.
    10. A lovely old CD I ordered finally arrived, can't wait to listen to it tonight, it'll take me back to my youth - Waterboys
    11. An ebay dress purchase is awaiting me at the post office in the next village, shame I'll have to drive there to pick it up, but I want it sooner rather than arranging for it to be redelivered......here's hoping it'll fit!
    12. Have finally managed to persuade a friend to babysit for me on Friday night so I can go out for girly dinner at my favourite restaurant, have been frantically asking everyone I could think of and someone's come through for me, yippee :)
    13. Planning on taking DD out for chinese food tomorrow night, or if the restaurant is full, getting a takeaway to celebrate Chinese New Year, it'll be a nice surprise for her as she loves eating out and I think I can shave something off my budget elsewhere to be able to get away with it :0)
    14. Have just been sent a code for 10% off a clothing catalogue that I really like, so might have to have another look....
    15. The prospect of seeing MrA tomorrow is putting a smile on my face.....even though I'm having a bit of a paranoid day today, foolish girl that I am!! Think it must be tiredness....and I mustn't let him sense that I'm a total numpty ;)
    16. Finding out that peas are piselli in Italiano, thank you Caterina :):)
    17. Reading lovely friendly, uplifting posts on MSE today and being grateful for having lots of virtual chums :)

Phew! That was a big list wasn't it?? When I started I thought oh I've had a bit of a rubbish day, am feeling a bit low and , but actually, when I reflect upon it there have been lots of good parts, and after all it is only 7pm so the night is young, I have studying to do and a nice warm house to do it in, so maybe there will be more!

    Evening all,

    Hope you are all well.

I am not doing too badly - got loads of work on at the moment but am trying to not get too stressy about it.

    1) NSD - just what I need as I have been spending a little too much money recently

    2) My car is still in the garage (3 weeks today since I took it in... grrr) but I have wonderful colleagues who have been more tha happy to give me lifes to work and lend me their company cars.

    3) No car means no spending on diesel

    4) Had a really good evening with a friend last night. He had agreed to come and watch the filming of Pointless last night... and even though I had tickets it was full when we turned up so we went out for supper then on to the pub. Good fun and nice to catch up with him while he is still here as he is about to move back to NZ.

    5) Got my emails in my inbox from 250 to under 100... far more managable.

Night all... snoozy time for Ladyhawk!

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Frith, Ampersand and CCP, please let me add my (((HUGS))) with a wish for happiness in the very near future (or, as in the "get well" phrase: NOW!).

    Dundeedoll

Kittikins, mi fa piacere essere stata di aiuto! :):)

Here are my pleasures for the day:

1 - After going to a new hairdresser for a haircut and coming out not-too-happy (it hardly shows, and I paid FULL PRICE!) both DS and my friend told me that even if the cut is not so visible at least the hair looks neat and nice (you can see that I am really trying to spot the silver lining in this cloud!).

2 - Shopping with the above mentioned friend, we decided we did not want a cup of tea at the cafe in the supermarket so we had a glass of tap water instead, but still sat and chatted away.

3 - Lots of housework done: kitchen in depth, bathroom, bedroom, 2 lots of laundry (one is drying outside in the garden!).

4 - DD saw that I was very tired at the end of the day, so she made me a cup of herbal tea and folded my laundry, then we spent some really lovely time in my room chatting and cuddling, she is so sweet!

5 - DS cooked dinner for the family, something he saw on Jamie Oliver, it was delicious. It is a pasta dish with egg and lemon sauce, I had it on cauliflower as I am trying to go low-carb and it was really nice!

6 - Receiving a thank you text from my friend, telling me that she had made a decision based on our morning conversation and thanking me to help her clarify her situation.

    Good night everybody x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Evening

    Pleasures for today;
    1. Took a HM bakewell tart into work that needed eating, went down very well. My old boss was in today and said he so misses having me work for him and nag him of course.
    2. Free lunch at work as our caterer had brought in a lunch for the wrong day but left it for us anyway as a freebie.
    3. Picked up a couple of stocking fillers in boots in the 90% sale, managed to get 4 pencil tins that I can fill with little bits for a whole £1.60.
    4. Thanks to MSE got tickets for the Ideal Home Show, DD loves this so will be a nice suprise for a day out in March.
    5. OH decided we should have chinese takeaway tonight to celebrate chinese new year. It was so yummy and means tomorrows dinner is prepared as had made a cottage pie.

Hugs to all who need them

5 for today (Weds) quickly as I am a bit tired.

    1) Looked after MrN's son4 who is well again now.

    2) Dad and brother came round to take some more builder's rubble away to use on brother's drive.

    3) Made a passable tea.

    4) All boys got on reasonably well.

    5) Watching MrN and bigger son show off their magic tricks/card tricks to each other.

    6) MrN came round. :-)

    7) pm received on here - I will get back to you when it's not quite so late! And thanks, Ampersand and others for your kind words.
  • havent posted on this thread for a while as things have been a bit traumatic with DD and her now ex BF as some of you on the daily thread will know :(

    1. DD does seem a bit brighter today and is out at a fancy dress disco with some friends dressed as St Trinians.

    2. DS might have a P/T job starting next week, he found he was on the wrong college course and has decided to re-apply in September.

    3. Managed to wangle/negociate a free Sky+HD box with free installation by threatening to cancell my Sky subscription saving me over £250 :j

    4. Sorted out my baking cupboard and found my icing-bag and all the nozzles which I thought I lost ages ago!!

    5. Been invited to a 40th birthday party next month - downside is I have to go as a Bond Girl

Mwuahaha, I'm going to be thrown out of 'the club' for this... :D

I had limoncello meringue pie for breakfast. That was most definitely a pleasure :A

My daughter ended up in my bed this morning and I woke up before the alarm (believe me, this never happens. I'm AWFUL :o) and she snuggled all up into me :j

That's all for now, I'll be back later! :D

Oh, and I start college (again) today. Does that count? It's a bit terrifying, but exciting at the same time.

Started off with me realising I didn't have any admin/IT qualifications - I'm not thick, I'm just good at pretending ;):p When it came to choosing options at school, the teachers told my parents not to let me take admin/IT cos they couldn't teach me anything. So I guess it was good, cos it meant I wasn't gonna spend two years being bored... but it also means I can't prove to anyone that I can do it :rotfl: Fast forward a few years, I decided to enroll on a little course, lecturer is impressed and tells me he wants me to do a higher Business Management course. He talked to the dept. head specially to get me in, so whatever he said worked :T It's gonna be hard work, what with running a business at the same time too though

God, I'm rambling. Shoot me now! :rotfl:

Xing nian quai le, xin xiang shi cheng :)
(Happy New Year, may all your wishes come true)

Sounds like everyone has been busy! Warm hugs to everyone feeling down atm. I myself have been a bit low so did my gratitude list and am very grateful I experienced time and love with my dear Aussie friend, life would have been so different without him and I thank the powers that be for the memories he left me. Thoughts of him make me happy again :A

    1. Today is a nsd
    2. Got up at 7am and have cleaned through upstairs and down
    3. My bromeliad, found in a skip many years ago, had now multiplied into 4 separate plants! Time to do some separating and repotting, methinks
    4. My first earlies are 'chitting' beautifully so will be ready to go out before the end of the month
    5. The laundry basket is empty, and all ironing done - that's a first :o
    6. Decided to re-do the second bedroom, it's chaos in there at the mo but will do it on a shoe-string and make it a welcoming guest room
    7. Lovely postie brought me a cheque, a voucher and a healthy nectar statement, all thanks to surveys.
    8. Good meeting of my fellowship last night, made a tea loaf and could have done with making two, it disappeared so fast. Men seem to love fruit cake :D
    9. Went to a nail salon for the first time ever yesterday and thanks to the young Chinese man there I now have beautiful fuscia pink nails with a 'starburst' design in gold and black. So pretty and not nearly as expensive as I expected it to be.
    10. Sitting here as if in a waiting room, case in the car and nothing to do! Don't leave til 6pm so will have a nap later as it's going to be a long 24 hours. Taking you with me in my thoughts and leaving hugs behind til I get back in a couple of weeks.

Have a peaceful day, take care and God bless
    S x

eta an 11th - just weighed in and lost 1lb, that a stone since 26th Dec :j. Will put most of it back on in the next 2 weeks though :o;)
