  • Good evening all. A beautiful day here today. My five,
    1. A lovely long walk in the sunshine with the dog - no coat required!
    2. Made a cottage pie for tea. Added lots of veg so it made enough for two pies - froze one.
    3. Rained a bit during the night which washed some of the muck off my car - looks cleaner with no effort.
    4. Worked my way through a large pile of ironing - quite theraputic and means I can go for coffee with my friend tomorrrow without feeling guilty that it's not been done.
    5. DD1 opening up a bit and talking about her feelings. She is really struggling at the moment.
Thats it for now. Love to all. X

    1. Another NSD :)
    2. MrA :):):) *swoon*
    3. A lovely colleague in NY contacting me on instant messenger just now, just to say how wonderful I am and how much he appreciates everything I do - no ulterior motive, no could you just check this or that for me, just a THANK YOU. What a nice chap!
    4. Chatting online to a couple of really good friends
    5. Icecream and tea at a friend's after school, she has the same illness as MrA, so was good to chat to her about a few things and also fill her in on the gossip. These married women friends of mine, they do like to ask the most impertinent questions!! :)

That's good that she feels she can talk about how she's feeling a little bit.

Got to go and have a shower, so excuse the short inpersonal post.

    Thinking of you all though..................

    1) Picking up my new car tomorrow :)

    2) A couple of texts and a phonecall with a friend which cheered me up

    3) A gorgeous card from some caring friends in my postbox when I got home. How lovely!

    4) My DS2...........we seem to have had a little breakthrough........we have actually managed to talk to each other in more than sentences of 1 syllable.

    5) A very yummy cake (I don't normally eat danish pastry type things - and this 1 had custard in the middle) for me and a chocolate chip twist for DS2 from a client. Bless her!

    6) DS1 ringing to tell me he loves me. :smileyhea

    7) A very very nice PM.............Thank you :D;)

Edited to add: 8) 6 Months & 2 days since I last inhaled nicotine hyper_fast.gifhyper_fast.gifhyper_fast.gif

    Evening

Caterina - Glad you had a lovely time with DS
Beachbaby - Good to see you posting again

    Pleasures for today:
    1. Managed to order DD the canvas she needs for her Art GCSE work, the one she needs is huge and are very expensive but found a website that I got 2 for the price of 1 so not so bad.
    2. Late department christmas lunch. We went for a curry and was yummy plus everyone turned up.
    3. Lift home from work though probably should have walked home after the lunch I ate.
    4. Simple dinner of Spaghetti Bolognaise cooked for dinner
    5. Managing to diplomatically sort out a disagreement between DD and OH, they are far too similar in personality for comfort some days.

Hugs to all who need them

    5 for today (Tuesday)

    1) Tidied up all the builder's rubble in the alleyway so the neighbours and I can actually get to our front doors without falling over bits of brick!

    2) Looked after MrN's sons 4 and 5 as they are ill and that went well.

    3) Had a little nap on the sofa this afternoon. Don't know where all this sleeping has sprung from but it's better than insomnia.

    4) Played board games with 2 of the boys. It's amazing, really, how they all get on. We have as many sons between us as there were pupils in my class at primary school!

    5) Enjoyed watching a documentary about Derren Brown. You can't help doubting everything he says, though. And he looks so much younger when he is off stage, especially in the bits where he was filmed with his parents.

    6) MrN came round and has just gone. :-)

I'm not sure how much sense this is going to make, being written as it is at 1.30am. But... reading Kittikins' posts about MrA - I need some of that positivity! MrN has come round here every night except 1 since August. We have never had a cross word. We have/are dealing with some pretty serious problems in our lives but seem to get through it all and still have a laugh. Yet I can't actually TELL him any of that, or anything helpful or positive, or even write too much about it here in case it jinxes it. Or in case he leaves me and I look like a prat.

Dearie me, got something in my eye now!

It entirely makes sense, Frith[notwithstanding my reading it at 04.13h :-)] and I can't be the only one to see a real sea change in your whole approach/use of language, since Debt-free day. Your clarity and perception in articulating your emotional SOA is becoming more positive as you edge towards confidence in it - and Mr N key in the matrix. Letting it come naturally is no longer a hopeless possibility for which your mind is insisting you don't qualify and that addictive old track record, which has controlled your thinking up till now[as we've read here], is NOT your all-singing, all-dancing tormentor/bully/determinant.
It really is purely, simply, 'CONGRATULATIONS' time and you, dear Frith, can accept this.

    Okay?

Maybe I shouldn't be writing thus and at such length, but we have all read here how you've struggled and stumbled and STILL COME THROUGH against so much that would defeat others.
Frith, your entitlement to simple everyday happiness is overdue. You are no longer obligingly programmed for failure, which was NEVER your input anyway; it was some lesser person's. You subscribed to it temporarily; that unsuitable contract has expired. Draw a parallel with your matchless talent and real enthusiasm for finding the best insurance deals for your family[I'd love you to do same for self+car, when that's due].
Your new learning process is to accept good things until this becomes Second Nature...it is something women tend to have trouble with.
    #############

    Right -

    1. Another day. Resumed at OD. Wore the mask, did not convince everyone. Received some hugs, needed.
    2. Lovely em from mummy? - will see her later today. Chose another 4 books that her son might like us reading.
    3. Ride back to my car, which I take part-way, with L. His use of 'mourning' is one I find over and again in the last month. It is raw and different from that following R's suicide, because that was - bluntly - finite, a physical death. This is not. And I have elected this path because I feel I must and also feel I knew it must happen one day...and still believe we can arrive at a new level of x for Life. We are swans, après tout.
    4. Can't bring self to unpack car, upload pix yet, reach under pilllow for things that are always there, yet know I will one day.... not sure when and won't do anything but let it happen.
    5. Think I'll have caf! and slice of Intermarch! brioche avec. Sleeping till now is a bonus, but I have Louise Penny to read and always Larkin and Hughes and others to sing to my soul. Only poetry and some music can do this...and the significant other, but I will turn from that path right now.

It's been another hot day but we are fortunate not to be near Cyclone Yasi. That looks seriously scary & much devastation will occur when it hits the coast .

    1. DD2 & I were up bright & early and got bus into our 'town'. had a look round op shops but never saw anything that took my fancy!

2.The wool shop has been closed since we got here, but re-opened yesterday. I want to knit a patchwork blanket so got some lovely chunky wool in pretty colours and made a start when I came home but knitting in heat is not for me! (rather expensive though! :( )

3.A plus side of heat is not really eating terribly much ( hardly starving !) but hopefully can get back on track of weight loss. I had lost 2 1/2 stone over a year, then put on about 1/2 stone stayed at that ,then last couple of months few pounds have crept on. Not a lot but I don't want to go back to what I was. Back to walking to school from Friday so hopefully it will melt off then! Miss my dog for 'having' to go out whatever the weather!

4.Covered dd2 's school jotters this afternoon, they are very pretty! We have to pay for all text books, jotters, stationery, 'voluntary' fees & course fees......this is for state education!

5.posted photos of kids kayaking to their grandparents.......make me smile so sure they will get a lot of pleasure seeing the photos.

Hope you all have a good Wednesday x

    Here's my pleasures of today:

    1. Saw a kingfisher on the riverbank out of our office window. It was beautiful. It sat on the other side of the river on a branch preening for a while, then dived into the river and sped off towards the other end of the building. Absolutely amazing.
    2. Picking up cleaning materials for a lot less than I would normally pay at the supermarket. Got to love Savers. :) I have a bit of a cleaning thing going on.
    3. Barbecue chicken strips for tea. We're having them with jacket potato wedges, so the whole lot goes into the oven and I have very little else to do. Easy tea night. ;)
    4. Managed to eat lunch today! I've been off my food for ages, so having lunch was a big thing for me. (Teeny confession - it was M&S sushi as a treat, but I ate!)
    5. DH put a load of washing on this morning on timer to finish around when I got back from work. It's drying now, so I'll have some ironing to do. I know, that sounds really bad, but I find ironing quite therapeutic these days, especially if DH is playing on the computer so I can watch.

Have a lovely evening, and take care everyone (((hugs)))

  • I'm on a roll now. Been really busy today, which is good as I'm missing a certain someone who will be coming home on Friday :D
    My five for today,
    1. A good morning at work.
    2. Going for a lovely coffee and catch up with my friend. (Not sure how I will pay the mortgage this month! ;))
    3. House almost cleaned from top to bottom. Just the vaccuming to do.
    4. Making a good friend laugh. She hasn't had much to smile about lately.
    5. Bank account still in the black - just!!
    Love to all. X

    1) A productive morning in the kitchen making soup, chicken stock, and Twinks
    2) Sent off my request for an master gardener to help growing fruit and veg in the garden. They are going to send me some details. The person helps you for a year. Ideal for a novice like me with no family with gardening skills near.
    3) My fruit trees arrived.
    4) My shopping trolley arrived so no more aching arms getting my shopping home.
    5) I found a knitting group in the next street through the local transition project.
