5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

1) Fixed the boiler myself this morning! Well, bit of an exaggeration. It sometimes loses pressure and there's no hot water or heating, so you have to turn two taps at the bottom simultaneously. It took me a while to remember what to do but I was so glad because DH is away and he's usually the one with a spanner in his hand.
2) Craft club at school this afternoon. There are some very good little stitchers out there!
3) DS's gf's stepdad came to tea (as DS's gf's Mum is in hospital) and the Sunday lunch left overs stretched nicely.
4) Rang Mum and she's getting rid of most of her stuff as they are moving. The pleasure is that I'm good at sorting stuff out so I can help and it will be healthy to have a new start without all the clutter she has felt obliged to keep over the last few years. She's too scared to offend anyone so she's kept all the old ornaments that people have given her over the years, whatever she felt about them.
5) DH is going to ring in a minute on Sk*pe.0 -
5 for today (Monday).
Sparrer - I'm obsessed with getting everyone's insurance for them as low as possible and find quotes for all my family! I've set them all up with Quidco accounts too (for cash back) and my best to date was for my dad's old Landrover. I found him a quote for £128 then got him £120 cashback through Quidco and he told all his friends his car insurance was £8 for the year!
1) Went to Sainsburys briefly and got a new SD card for my camera. I don't know what smaller son has done to the old card but apparently it is "locked". Good to have the camera working again and I have taken some photos of the wall re-building. :-)
2) Had lunch made for me by MrN.
3) Looked after MrN's youngest 2 sons so he could go into work this afternoon (we are all taking it in turns to be ill!) and got a bit of washing etc done for him.
4) Made prawn curry for tea which everyone ate.
5) My sons have to go to their father's on Mondays and invariably come back in a terrible mood. But, after 10 minutes on the naughty step for continual swearing, bigger son calmed down and got his guitar out. He has been having lessons for half a term and was able to accompany me on the piano for the first time today. :-) He knows chords A, E and D (although it takes him about 2 minutes to change chord each time!) and I looked at the music that was on the piano already and (with a bit of fudging), A and E were perfect. So I played and shouted "E now!" or "A!" and it went quite well!
6) MrN came round and has not long gone home.
7) In bed now with hot water bottle, laptop primed for Sorry I Haven't a Clue and it seems younger son found his way in here earlier as well!
Good night, all.0 -

3.Washing dries exceptionally quickly!
4.er....struggling now....finished a good book!
5. Eating nice ice cream (that was on special offer) as I type!

I suspect that is several days' pleasures in one go?
And many more to come as the damp, cold and wind are repelled effectively. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Hi, RAS.
Yes, I keep popping outside to admire the new brickwork! Am about to borrow MrN's wheelbarrow and clear up all the rubble and mess left so far. Builders are hopefully back in Thursday and Friday and think it will take them a good part of next week as well.0 -
5 os pleasures
1. The joy of feeling normal again after food poisoning. Caused by
2. Going for a meal with some friends. Would like to say it was worth it but seeing as I have been ill for 5 days maybe not.
3. Seeing The Kings Speech. I am anti royalist and only went cos my friends wanted to, so glad I did as it was brilliant.
4. Wrapping my sons 18th birthday presents. I have put a lot of thought into them so am hoping well received. Can't wait for him to open them.
5. Getting a toothbrush and cleaning out the nooks and crannies of the toilet, lovely to see it so clean. Also decluttered the bathroom to make it more "boutique" - whatever that means.Money SPENDING Expert0 -
Been so busy that it's been hard to keep up with everyone's pleasures.
Here are mine from yesterday:
1) A glorious sunny (but freezing) morning which made me feel excited about spring coming back sooner or later!
2) A good trip into town to take the boys to their various clubs.
3) Found loads of cheap children's books in a charity shop.
4) Chatting with the other mums.
5) Crocheting by a lovely fire in the evening.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Hi all
Back from Cornwall last night, thanks to all who wished DS and me a good time - we had a lovely time!
Lots to catch up with as usual after being away, so a brief post only.
Kittikins, peas in Italian is piselli but I know why you think of bisi (from risi e bisi, rice and peas) - perhaps in the North that is what they call peas in dialect but not in common Italian. Hope it helps!
Here is a handful of pleasures:
1 - The hotel in Newquay was really nice, at that price it could have been a right dump but instead no, it was just an exceptionally good offer!
2 - DS and I really got along, I had to learn to accept that he is not the best conversationalist and I think he was also very tolerant of me and my quirks!
3 - The weather was perfect - never any rain, one full day cloudy (spent at the Eden Project), the next day full sun (long walks on the cliffs, we even visited - outside - the hotel where they filmed The Witches!).
4 - Being back home! Although being with DS was lovely, I really missed DD and DH too.
5 - Back to normal, today I went to my craft class and my denim bedcover is taking shape.
Love to all, will catch up later on. xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Evening, everyone. Just popped on to post my pleasures before another pleasure - a nice hot bath!
1. Only buying what I needed on my shopping list, in spite of seeing lots of lovely packs of pork ribs on offer in Mr M...
2. Buying a pack of dried onions (my one whim towards a fully-stocked storecupboard) and I'll have lots of fun working out how to use them...
3. A free sample of moisturiser in a magazine - it looks really good.
4. Watching a rerun of Economy Gastronomy and realising I don't spend all that much on food
5. The feeling I'll have when I've washed my hair. In the interests of frugality I'm trying to leave it 2 days between washes, but I do get so cranky when I feel it's greasy. I'm really looking forward to that bath!
OK, I'm feeling somewhat philosophical this evening. I don't know why - it could be tiredness, and it could be just one of those things, but I can't help it. I'm fretting a bit about my driving - I get flustered so easily, which makes me stall the car when I'm in a queue of traffic and exacerbates the problem. Anyway, enough rambling - sorry. I've got a bit of a hankering to make a big pot of tomato and bacon sauce ready to turn into several pasta dishes. Bring on the bacon!
Hope everyone has a lovely evening,
