    Evening all.

I'll start with a rather random thought, if you don't mind, simply because it's been bugging me (at a very low level, admittedly): when I got home tonight there was a flyer on my doormat advertising a local curry place with "new: authentic flavour!". So what did they have before? smiley-confused005.gif And authentic flavour of what, precisely? (Although as the advertiser has a reputation as a reliable place for a dose of food poisoning at the end of an evening out I probably don't actually want to know the answer to that! ;))

    Right, sorry - pleasures:

    1) A really nice variation on porridge for breakfast, with dried apple, raisins and walnuts cooked with it. I'll be having that again, when I can get some more dried apple.

    2) A hot sausage roll for lunch. (The last one for a while, though, I think, as my jeans are getting a little on the tight side. :()

    3) The financial adviser who has been advising me on what to with the money from my grandmother's will has managed to re-arrange our next meeting so I can do this in my lunch break rather than having to take the afternoon off - I didn't ask her to do this, she just contacted me out of the blue to see if it would be better for me. :A

    4) A brief game with the cat when I got home - only brief as he's getting too old to charge round madly for long now (it's still funny while it lasts, though :)).

    5) Sort of takeaway for dinner: spare ribs LO and frozen from my last real takeaway, with a couple of bits from the supermarket to bulk it out to a full meal. It's more expensive than cooking myself, but considerably cheaper than a proper takeaway. :money:

    6) My sister's coming to visit tomorrow, and our parents are coming over for dinner, which will be our first family get-together since... so long ago I can't actually remember when it was. :o

Patchwork Quilt - your fruit patch sounds brilliant, and certainly more entertaining than writing an essay. ;)

Ladyhawk - I'm glad you're feeling a bit better, and that you've managed to re-establish friendly contact with Man from Dubai. :)

mhagster - I'm glad you had such a nice time at the tennis. There was a big cheer in the office when Andy won - it's a good thing the head of department is a huge sports fan or that might have caused a few problems!

ampersand - I'm glad to hear your leg's feeling a bit better.

Frith - that sounds like some fairly major building work you've got going on. I hope it all gets finished quickly and with no major problems - it's sounding promising so far.

dundeedoll - :hello:. It's good to see you posting, and thanks for your concern - my cough's almost gone now, thanks (for which my colleagues are doubtless very grateful!).

Kitchenbunny - WD on the driving - reversing is still my great bug-bear, I must confess, so very well done for getting the hang of it.

Tealady - I hope you're feeling better today. Your pancakes sound . I haven't had savoury pancakes in years, so I must slip those into a future mealplan now you've reminded me of them.

Blimus - I'm more than a little jealous of your DH's HM ancho chile sauce - that sounds sooo good!

marmite - mmm, HM lemon curd. That's about all I can say, really, except . :D

Kittikins - I think you're right about peas being bisi - now I just need to sort out the 'mush' bit. That's great about Mr A - go girl! :D

Have a lovely evening, all. I probably won't be able to post for the next couple of days as my sister's staying with me, so have a nice weekend, too.
Back after a very long break!

    Evening everyone
Hope everyone's ready for a good weekend! My pleasures for today

1 - Another good sleep last night - since I gave up work I've slept sooo much better
2 - Lovely sunny day. Don't mind it being cold if the sun's shining and the sky's blue
3 - Optician appt - prescription doesn't need changing, and apparently I've got really healthy eyes (inspite of being a tad short sighted!)
4 - Discovered another lovely craft centre who run inexpensive courses - looking forwards to signing up for a couple of them
5 - My house is still tidy :j

Glad to hear that those who've been under the weather are doing better, and hope you're all soon 100% again. And good to see you back on here dundeedoll :)

    Evening

    Pleasures for today;
    1. I got some sleep last night so went into the office today, I did get the bus today though as could not face the walk
    2. Lunch is my favourite cafe with my friend J
    3. Lots of laughing in the office this afternoon, it was over nothing much but just one of those things that had us rolling with laughter
    4. Took a dress back that I had bought in the sales and exchanged for some trousers that I know I will feel much more comfortable in. Not really a dress person
    5. Easy dinner of meatball and pasta bake, have been good at sticking to the meal plan this week. Next weeks plan is now sorted just need to do the shopping for it now.
    6. Received £3 in LV for a survey, now have over £40 stashed so will use for a family meal out as a treat in the next week or so.

Hugs to all who need them, glad all the poorlies are starting to feel better.

Just so all over the place atm I don't know if I'm on my head or my heels - and to top it all the kitchen fitters phoned to say they're coming in the next couple of weeks to put in the kitchen they promised me last Feb .
Yes Caterina I'm certainly counting down now, this time next week (GMT) we'll not be far off touching down in Delhi :). Have a super time in Cornwall, my second favourite county after Hampshire
Thanks ampersand and CCP, I really had no faith in being able to fix the comp but the gods were guiding me and it all just fell into place
Hugs (((Frith))). I can only say it will get easier in time, you can't forget but you'll find the way to shut those memories behind a door which you'll learn to leave firmly locked. It was after my then 3yo DD asked why daddies were allowed to smack mummies that I did my 'time' at Chiswick WA, the only one about in those days, and do empathise. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Had to laugh at your cozzie story, being short I have the opposite prob and they usually tend to hang down to my knees :o
lainey well done on the gardening and baking, sounds like you have a productive day
Kittikins what a good coincidence you and Mr A being in London on the same day. Vaguely reminded me of the film Brief Encounter except you'll be travelling back together :D
marmite I've not had lemon curd for ages, wish I lived nearer you ;)
Blimus the ancho chili sauce sounds verrry good, is there a substitute for the white wine, I wonder. Stock, perhaps?
Tealady hope you feel better, I'm sure the slice of lemon meringue helped ;)
Kitchenbunny I'm in awe of you, I can manage bookmarks and the like but that's just spectaciular!
dundeedoll hugs to you too. I love the huggy smiley, reminds me of one of the Mr characters (Happy, Nosey etc)
Mhags wish I'd been there to see you and DD1 in your tartans egging on Andy Murray. You're certainly getting about and seeing some interesting things, good for you :)
Ladyhawk pleased your man friend got in touch, at least you know now what the relationship is and can move forward with that. Good to hear you're feeling a little better, congrats on the strength to put the first pair of boots back :T
Patchwork I envy you getting out in the garden, still too cold for me here and so much I want to do. Have to re-seed the lawn before I go away though as DD's dog has decimated it, looks like a ploughed field :( . What pear did you get? I have patio comice on order but wont be here til the end of the month
CCP I so know what you mean, the expression 'new, improved' grates on me. So they've been selling us inferior goods? If they made whatever it is properly in the first place they wouldn't need to improve it
Pam I live in the sticks so you'd think things like craft centres would abound but never see them advertised. Would love to join in something a bit different. Enjoy :)

    1. nsd
    2. Not a cheerful subject but a job well done and out of the way. Got my will sorted out thanks to the tip from Martin re the Which online will service, ideal for someone with a simple, straightforward will. Also got a discount on the price as they had an offer on :D
    3. Ticked off my packing list, everything I need is together in the spare bedroom with the exception of some new undies and a padlock, which I'll buy tomorrow
    4. Jacket potato with prawns (241 in Mr M) for lunch, had a little low fat philly left so put that on in place of mayo. Delicious
    5. Knowing that my new kitchen will be installed, hopefully before the end of the tax year :j

    Night night, sweet dreams

Sparrer - it's amazing how clearly children see things. My son asked me why we had left his father then said "Is it because he was grumpy and shouty?" Er, yes! He was 4 then.

Here are my 5 for today (Friday).

    1) All went to the dentist - no work needed. :-D I have only ever had one filling, at least there is one part of me that works!

    2) MrN made our lunch... and tea...

    3) Smaller son made it to school, bigger son had another day off.

    4) Builders continued well. Pity it is -5 tonight, it's not really what the new mortar needs. My dad "happened to be passing" to have a nose at what they were doing.

    5) Smaller son was full of beans while bigger son and I are still quite ill so he went to play with MrN's sons for a while.

    6) MrN came round and has just gone.

    Morning all -

    1. Another day.
    2. Prepared fruit for M's gâteau d'anniversaire, which I will take down for her 66th in France, old Var stamping ground, in March[more Mr T and Eurotunnel]. It's going to feel very rough, going so differently from all journeys of the last too many years - can't go there much in my head atm, too painful.
    3. Heard just now that it's Great Garden Bird Watch for the RSPB this weekend. Will do this. Linky here for those of you who, like me, didn't know:
    http://www.rspb.org.uk/birdwatch/?gclid=CLGwyabe3qYCFcgf4QodpCA30g
    4. Mr T vouchers - I see that Braeburn apple trees are available via Thompson & Morgan>15 March - and price comparison stacks up well enough[not always the case with Mr T rewards]. May order 2 and take one to M. This variety[along with Gala]originated in my NZ home town/province. The White Egret Orchids aren't too bad either.
    5. Tennis to watch soon after yesterday's match of attrition, with Murray adding himself to Ferrer as opponent too often. But I did a very fiddly and onerous wallet lining and zip renewal/insert by hand while watching, all of which felt meet and right parallels for Life at present - and I do now have an as new, 'old friend' wallet.
    6. Before I went away, I booked for an intriguing Concert at Kettles Yard tomorrow - couldn't remember which and am really glad now to have another 'time-passing' stepping stone for tomorrow. Confirmation came last night. Can leave after the tennis. I do remember thinking, at time of booking, 'I may need this, something to distract and come back to'.........
    ###############
Need to zap coffee and brioche, renew hottie, then read[began David Nicholl's 'One Day' last night, as I can't bring self to reach end of Alan Titchmarsh's ' Nobbut a Lad' too soon]before a bit more i-player and tennis.

Gentle days, reassurance and comforts to everyone, especially those feeling raw, vulnerable, questioning - quiet minds and peaceful hearts partout.

Frith - as I left, there was news of this Exposition on France-Inter:
http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/art/news/paris-artlovers-queue-through-the-night-to-marvel-at-monet-2193321.ht and I thought of diverting........
Still haven't been to Gare du Nord.

Morning all. Here's my pleasures for yesterday:

    1. Went out to a pub for a couple of friends' birthdays. I drove, and while it nearly caused a domestic on the way there, I got us back OK (if a trifle lost :s). I feel at lest like I'm paying a little bit back for all the night's where DH has had to drive.
    2. Am still off my food, but I'm nearly below 11 stone - Yay!
    3. Going shopping at Mr M, and pretty much sticking to the list. A miracle!
    4. Plotting which of the books on my bookshelf I want to get rid of to make more space.
    5. Having a bit of a daydream about what I'd do in a world without technology.

Up early today. I'm fairly sure I've got a lot to do, so an early start wouldn't hurt. Not that a lay-in wouldn't be good. When the brain's awake though... I couldn't stay in bed any longer so got up. It sounds like DH has caught another cold, bless him. :( These changeable weather conditions are probably not helping. Anyway, shall make a start. Have a good day, everyone.

Hello lovely people :) Yesterday's delights were many,

    1. Lovely girly chum over for a sleepover - with far too much red wine, I have a bit of a headache now, but we really put the world to rights.........
    2. DD was so excited to see her "Aunty" and proudly showed her her Christmas presents and let her listen in to our bedtime story :) (We actually had 2 as I was halfway through and realised it was one we'd read the night before, so 'had' to continue to the next short story in the book :) )
    3. DD came in to my bed in the middle of the night and cuddled and snored - now I know hearing someone snore isn't much of a pleasure, but they were cute, kittenlike snores rather than rip-roarers. And I loved the cuddles :):)
    4. Worked from home - completely on my own today ;):)
    5. Love the NHS - sorting me out yet again :)

Hi all, not been keeping up so hugs to anyone that needs them.

    1. "New" boots from the charity shop - leather as well - for £8 :D And they look smart and I wore them all day and my feet were fine ;)

    2. Disposing of some excess clothes and clutter to the charity shop.

    3. Getting the most humongous baking potatoes from the market for 25p each.

    4. Sainsbug delivery having most of the offers I wanted.

    5. Oven baked ratatouille (from Waitrose website) being very yummy and lots left for tomorrow evening too.
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?
  • It's been lovely day, dazzlingly bright and sunny. The lake was so hazy that you couldn't see the mountains on the other side.

    For today (a day off):

1 Nice to be off today.Work yesterday was not great.

2 Managed some more decluttering, and then lugged it all up to the charity shop.Hopefully I'll manage even more decluttering in the coming weeks.

3 My Italian colleague absolutely loved the HM lemon curd.I've just made some plain yoghurts, and added a dollop of lemon curd on the bottom.

4 Didn't manage a run,but walked to the station to get a paper.

5 The wee cat has just spent the last few hours curled up under a blanket on my lap, snoring softly.

Ampersand hope you get over your injury soon, sorry, now(!)

Sparrer you must be so excited-is this your first visit to India?

Hope you all have a good evening x
