3 I made some lemon curd for an Italian colleague who loves all things lemony, but has never tried lemon curd.

4 I've made a lovely potato dish to use up more cream.

    5 Went running.

    Evening

Ampersand - ouch! ouch! at your leg injury, hope you are feeling better soon.

Today has been a bit of a slow day as not been out of the house other than to take DD to guides. I was coughing lots last night so got no sleep so decided to go sick today as I was fit for nothing.

Anyway will try for 5 pleasures for today:
    1. Stayed snuggly and warm at home all day and got some sleep
    2. Had a piece of lemon meringue pie that DD made
    3. Dinner of herby pancakes with bolgnaise and cheese baked turned out well and there are still a few pancakes left so will probably be made into a breakfast dish with some beans.

that about it for today. hugs to all who need them
  • Evening, everyone. Had to pop on to post my five pleasures for today, so here goes:

    1. Drove the car tonight with DH in and only messed up when it came to reversing onto the driveway. Getting better (hopefully!)
    2. HM Lasagne for tea which was just heated in the microwave. Always nice to not have much to cook.
    3. A NSD! First time in ages, hurrah!
    4. Getting a bit more sewing done. This is my latest cross stitch project. No idea what I'll turn it into yet though!
    5. Watched Clash of the Titans from LoveFilm. OK, so it isn't the best film I've ever seen, but it was enjoyable watching films about Greek Myths. :)

Another day, another day missed doing my Pilates. That's the third day in a row, and my joints are feeling it. I shall have to make up for it at the weekend. Lots to do this weekend, including (perhaps) cleaning out the inside of the car, if the weather is nice enough! I have enough cleaning to do inside the house, thinking about it. I'm planning a big spring clean for some time in March, which will include cleaning the windows (inside and out), washing the net curtains, airing the house and cleaning any surface I can see all over.

(((hugs))) Take care, everyone. Sorry I've not had time for a proper catch up, but I am thinking of you all!

    KB xx

Thanks for all the messages - feeling a lot better today. :-)

Here are my 5 or more so far for today:

    1) Lovely messages on here.

    2) Mum drove me to Sainsburys and I got some bits and pieces unaccompanied by children!

    3) Dropped our passport forms off for my friend to countersign.

    4) Tried on my new swimming costume that came in the post from M and S. The normal length costume I ordered nearly did me a mischief so I am pleased to report that the longer length is more sensible.

    5) MrN has been most helpful (not that he is normally UNhelpful!) and has taken my sons to and from school and made our tea. I must be looking pretty ghastly! Three of our sons are still not quite better.

    6) The builders are cracking on with the re-pointing and it looks much better. They seem pleased with it too and haven't found anything untoward. From the upstairs window of MrN's this morning I got a proper view of all the bricks they had removed and you could see the ends of the beams in the living room ceiling - from outside!! There is a cement mixer in my garden so I hope no one steals it overnight.

    7) Just about to settle down now and listen to the Archers then I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue on the iplayer. The stove is going well and I have the hot water bottle ready.

    8) Don't know if MrN will pop by, he has already gone above and beyond the call of duty today. :-)

Hope he did, Frith - are you taking pics from different vantage points? Good to look back on, especially as it chimes with your Really and Truly new beginning/new Self. Sounds as if Mr N's is a good viewpoint:-)

Thankyou Dundee Doll - yes, you are very, very right, but I am aware that you have been having your own rough times.

If you want help getting started on ebay, do you want to pm me? I think I'd recommend a bit of hand-holding, in that starting off alone can seem complex and offputting. Yes, it can be a love it or loathe it thing, but in the end, any£hing that comes in is better than nothing, provided you've been wise in your pricing and description. There are things which become 2nd nature, but may not be obvious at first. A kind man, met by chance at a carboot some years ago, gave me some tips which stand me in good stead still. Let me know.
Soolin, among others, is the ebay Bede on mse.
    #################
    1. Got through another day.
    2. Tennis to watch soon - caught up on My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding last night. May watch last night's ce soir.
    3. NZ Skype and more wise kindness from D.
    4. Bus pass to £land, which came up trumps again - many new variants of solar lights, planting[lots of taties, excellent at 20 per pack]and WWII history dvd's, of which I sent phone pics to someone who is interested in this, buys from our Charity. He is pleased. I walked reasonably well.
    5. Contact from 2 peeps I will see soon.

Good days to all and the comfort of knowing that this Thread is here.
    Hope beachbaby is alright still.

    pleasures many pleasures!
1.Went into city on train ,sat & watched some street theatre, very funny!
    2. Picked our spot to watch tennis on big screen, given cardboard 'seats' and a free hand held fan by one of tennis sponsors.
    3. Thought it was starting at 4.30pm, we were there from about 2.30pm.......wasn't on until 7.30pm, yikes! However we watched ladies double finals, the news, Home & Away, before the tennis we wanted to see.
    4. DD1 & I wore tartan hats (made by a friend before we moved here), DD2 made a wee banner, so we attracted the attention of a film crew & were filmed shouting 'Gawn Yersel Andy Murray' in much thicker Scottish accents than we actually have!
    5. Andy won! Train home, much ,much cooler (as in we were all frozen in shorts & teeshirts after having roasted all day!)

I am so glad we went & had the experience. Last year I said if we were in Oz this year we would go & cheer him on & shout Gawn Yersel Andy Murray! So we did & look what happened he won!
Another pleasure was sitting chatting to 2 Scottish girls who are back packing round Australia. They were very pleasant & lovely to talk to someone who understands exactly what you are saying!

    Enjoy your day, Mhags x

    Hi Everyone,

Am at work at the moment - but am waiting for my Outlook to finish downloading something so thought I'd take this opportunity to say hi and try to remember any pleasures from the last few days.

    1) Received a cheque from HMRC... YAY!! It's not a huge amount but equated to 1/3 of a months pay so definitely not to be sneezed at! Pity it is just going to be spent of my stupid car... grrr...

    2) Taking it this easy this week. Am in the Glasgow office today so am keeping a low profile where noone can bother me. Am going through to Edinburgh this evening to stay with some friends.

    3) Tonsillitis is now better though it has left me very tired.

    4) Got a message from the Man in Dubai... :) Ok so I am clearly not the love of his life bu its nice to be friends again

    5) Went boot shopping yesterday (which I loathe) and tried on some nice ones for £265... but in the end settled for some £35 ones which will do fine.

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend and look forward to catching up with your news when I get home.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
  • Good decision Ladyhawk!

    1) Planted a tree today - took my own advice and went out with a spade to put my James Grieve into a bit of garden that wasn't really ready but it ought to be done while the tree is dormant. That's three apples, a pear and a plum tree in so far, along with a couple of gooseberry bushes and some strawberry runners that were going spare at the allotment. I need to move my rhubarb now or at least plant some more. DH is threatening to deck the rhubarb patch, although if I don't remind him, maybe it won't happen for a while.
    2) Did a bit of digging while I was out there. I do like crumbly earth, but I don't know why. The proposed veg patch is in what used to be a very large compost heap so there is some good soil and some part-decomposed stuff among the sections of clay and the ghastly gravel that is still over the rest of the borders.
    3) Chopped up some bits of wood that were too big to go in the stove and burned them. Can you tell I was supposed to be writing an essay?
    4) Coffee date with DH. I met him at a park that is half way between his work and home. We took sandwiches but the sun had disappeared and there was a cold wind, so we ate shivering on a bench and then went to the cafe for a latte to warm up. It was cheaper than lunch in the deli.
    5) Managed not to eat a piece of cake, although I am very hungry now. It is worth having tried to cut down, as my jeans did not feel so tight this morning. Will see tomorrow, as I only weigh myself on a Saturday.
