Saturdays pleasures ( as we are now onto Sunday)

    1. Unintentional lie in (we were all so late from night before ) .
    2. Did our food shopping, grudgingly paid $8.99 a kilo for apples........normally very shiny & pretty, however, after floods in QL, we as a public ,have been asked to support our farmers & still buy fruit & veg that doesn't look perfect..will still taste fine (at $8.99 it bloomin' better still taste fine!)
    3. Got 2 new recipe books, 1 for muffins & cupcakes & the other for cookies. They are very prettily illustrated and I had an enjoyable half hour looking at all the nice things I might just one day make! they were a good price too! I am now used to measuring in cups however these books are in gr/oz so when I looked to see where it was from I noticed they were RRP of £9.99.......so obviously from UK........I didn't spend nearly as much as that for both together so quite chuffed and they are very ,very pretty books!

    4. To the beach we went & had a very enjoyable evening on the beach, dd1 in kayaking & loving it & staying upright (always a bonus), dd2 in swimming along side her sister.......(me.... dry book!)
    5. Home late, had planned to get a bag of chips on way home but they were all shut! (they do close much earlier over here!) so I had beans on toast when we got in! Really loving my beans on toast at the moment! the rest had some spag bol, as we had taken a bol sauce out of freezer to make room for new stuff, so just had to boil some pasta up & that was a very late supper!

Must get on now. It's to be 40o today, yikes! So have got washings on & to be hung out, oven is on , to make banana loaves (yummy) and need to make carrot & coriander soup. So will do when it's slightly cooler.!
Hope you all have a nice weekend.

A quickie as I've to be up early for my 'tour of the M-ways' to visit DM in the morning

Frith well done for not needing anything more than check-ups. Hope you all got a sticker ;)
ampersand thanks for the mention of Var, as a family we spent many a happy time in the stretch from Port Grimaud to Frejus, and inland. Hope you enjoy the concert
Kitchenbunny congrats! I've been strugging with the last few lbs to 11st for a couple of weeks and it doesn't look like it's going to happen just yet, so well done you :T
Kittikins your DD's snoring sounds cute ;)
Newlywed well done on getting the boots, I can never find them in my size, 3, so have to pay shop prices. Pleased you got them at a good price and they were comfortable :D
marmite I've never been further than Bahrain before, and that as a child, so it's a huge adventure. We (a friend and I) are going to Kerala, there's an international convention of my fellowship during the middle weekend so we've decided to go to for 2 weeks and make it a holiday. Can't go all that way just for 3 days! I love the idea of lemon curd in yogurt, perhaps when I come back I'll attempt to make some
Mhags  at the price of apples, you'll have to grow your own in a patio pot then you can take it with you if you move :D.

    1. Sleep-in til 9am :o
    2. Niece 2 had her first baby, Daisy, so am looking forward to the next family gathering so I can have cuddles
    3. Returned DD's dog and picked up mine, lovely to have the silly old mutt back :)
    4. Bought some cheap white undies and a couple of pretty dress rings in M@t@l@n. Just got the padlock to get then no more spending :o
    5. Managed to take up the hem of a very silky dress by hand, and not one stitch shows through :j

Night night, sweet dreams and hope everyone has a good Sunday

    Hello Peeps!

It was my birthday on Thursday, so I have had lots of recent pleasures, but still feel a bit disappointed..............:(

    1. Nice little pressies from my family for my birthday. Even DM remembered and sent me a gift voucher for M&S! (Don't shop in there usually, but will spend it on wine!).

    2. Got 2 x dine in for £10 meals in M&S. Had a £5 off voucher and the lady at the checkout also gave me 10% off, so the bill came down to £16!! :T She must have known it was my birthday!

    3. Friday went to Pizza Express with DH and the children. (The posh one at the Mail Box). Using Tesco vouchers the bill was only £22.50 and we had coffee and fudge cake at home. Yummy and all for the price of McDonalds!!!:rotfl:

    4. Saturday was a fundraising curry and Karioke evening at the swimming club. I grilled 120 popadums as my contribution to the evening ! (I was toasted by the time I had finnished too!) Good fun. The kids enjoyed the singing and we won stuff on the raffle. It was one of the girls birthday on Sunday, so we both had happy birthday sung to us. :o

    5. Found a big trolley load of reduced tins etc in Sainsbugs yesterday, and had a good rummage. :)

Can't work out why I feel glum, when I have managed to make my birthday last 3 days, eat lots of nice food and have nice presents and cards too. Silly woman. Time for a cup of tea and another peice of fudge cake and cheer up! :j

Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Especially if you are packing for India Sparrer! Have a lovely time! :) HE x

    well Sunday' s pleasures:
    1. had a very industrious start to day, 2 loads of washing done, dried & ironed in less than an hour. Made soup (for tea) and 3 banana loaves (using mix for 2 but did them in different containers)and a dozen fairy cakes. I dislike my oven ,it does not seem to evenly heat & bake food. Most frustrating! Got floors all washed, picnic made then we.......

2.headed to the beach. It was 42o, and 'our' beach was jumping! I have never seen so many people there but obviously had same idea as us.....so guess where I ended up?...........

    3. .......swimming in the sea! I usually do not go above my ankles (if that!) but it was so hot it was actually a real pleasure to be in.......I have never swum in sea before and apart from my hair being ruined!, my feet having seaweed touch them ( freaky) and standing on rocks (no likey!) and the surprising taste of salt (really?) it was quite enjoyable .....kids were delighted!

    4. back home, quick shower to sort out my hair and wash all that salt off, quick tea of yummy carrot & coriander soup and off to the train station to go to city to see........

    5. Andy Murray not win :(
Poor man, there were thousands and thousands of fans in the free seats at city centre! Amazing atmosphere, would have been better if he'd won but at least he made it to the final & there's always next year!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

    1. Another day - it is very hard.
    2. Yesterday, enjoyed a gentle lunch with mummy?, then met her son and read 2 stories with him. This was very special, as is mummy?, as is her son and discovered one of her daughters and I share a recent birthday.
    3. Back from the concert - intriguing and it made me function in another sphere and feel the emotional bruising that Kettles Yard brings to the surface, while giving me solace.
    4. Seville oranges reduced at Mr T en route back. Posted this on The Preservers' Year, but it may be useful here, too[HFW's piece from yesterday's Grauniad]:

5.sparrer - spent much time at Port Grimaud in another life, when living near-ish, with catamarans. Had a lot to do with the Dorgambides then, sailing, championnats etc. Frederique[his wife. no point putting acutes on the 'e's; they're always treated as obscenities on mse, dkw]was the sister of Mary of Peter, Paul and Mary. The Var is my heart's 1st place in France - always has been, always will be. Will be back in Collo. soon. My village for those years was La Farlède - was married there. I think of your packing and leaving days like this grey one behind. It will be so wonderful - you know how many of us are accompanying you, don't you?:-)

    4. my daughter saying I'm her 'angel'.... she melts my heart
    5. getting a text from hubby, who's away visiting his family, telling me he loves and misses me

    1. DD and I had a lovely chill-out day inside, playing games, dancing to lovely music, eating hm chocolate muffins :)
    2. NSD - yippee!! Feels like ages since I had one of those....
    3. Worked out my finances for February and it's going to be tight but will have to be doable, probably hard due to me buying so many "bargains" in the January sales, but on the plus side, I have probably every present I need for DD for her birthday, Christmas stocking, advent calendar and most of Christmas and a few bits for her chums for the parties that seem to crop up . Over-organised? Yup, but I do like a bargain!
    4. Lovely leftovers for dinner, far less hassle than creating a new menu :)
    5. The anticipation of meeting up with MrA tomorrow afternoon :)
    6. Knowing that the cupboards have plenty of food in them, so really, I do only need milk, fruit and veg. I must get back into making my own bread.......downside is that I eat far too much when it's HM!!
