Frith, it's great that you are seeing things so clearly now and writing them succinctly here. I believe you will arrive at a point where you can think ' Oh, just nearing that old tunnel again, am I?' and positively turn away to another touchstone. Can you keep a small object, happy stone, something picked up and retained from a good or blissful day or walk or time together, and turn to that? Let all those associations pour in, displacing and defeating the other 'same old, same old'.
That sort of retreating to old patterns is not your New Woman self and each time you overcome it, will make it less likely to return.
It's no more than the slightly tricky application to homework you develop with your lovely boys.

Frith: have a nice hug from Australia.....they are very warm ones you know!
Dundee Doll: nice to see you here again! I had wondered where you had went to!

Today was a nicely warm day about 27o but not humid which makes all the difference.
    1. popped back in to next town with DD2 on bus, had seen some bargains yesterday but dd1 was there & they were for her! got photos from the launch of the new kayak printed , had to wait an hour but each print reduced from 15c to 9c each, so that was a pleasant surprise! had to wait an extra hour as they were so busy.
2.Got my bargains that I had planned to & nothing else! home on bus ,quick watch of The Bill & then back on the bus....
3.....to go to the library to use their free internet (& benefitted from their nice cool air con) So had 2 hours there then bus back home to have....
    4. ...the simplest of teas.....yummy beans on toast!
    5. Lots of washing done today all dried but not ironed yet :( including my red gingham bedding which I now need to go & iron before I can go to bed!

Hope you all have a good day x

Oh dear, you put me to shame ! I never iron our sheets. As long as they're thoroughly dried and aired, even if a little crumpled, that's good enough for me.

don't do fitted sheet but will do top sheet & pillow cases (like p'cases done!) as we are not using a quilt at mo as it's just too warm of an evening!

    5 for yesterday (Weds).

Unfortunately I started thinking of coming home from the refuge. What a shambles that day was! My mum stayed here overnight and stepped backwards and fell over a toy box and broke a rib. :-O The ex had emptied half the house out so we hadn't even got any pillows. Then I started thinking about the debts and living on £20 a week for the first 18 months after we came back (£20 for 3 of us - I lost 2 stones!) Bloomin Casualty upset me again with its horrible storyline and I made the mistake of watching it on iplayer on Tues night in bed and that made me cry.

Feel quite emotional myself reading what you have been through. You have done marvellous to cope with all that stress.
With regard to programmes like Casualty I avoid them like the plague as what is the point of getting upset. I stick to programmes like Larkrise to Candleford. I rarely watch the news or read the papers for the same reason. Pathetic I know but since I had kids I get really upset.
I went through a torrid time when my mum died and my husband left to live with a 19 year old soon after:eek:, however when I look back on it now it doesn't feel real as my life has moved on so much since then. I try not to get complacent though and think I appreciate things more.

    Hi all

    Dundeedoll
, sorry about your accident and also very sorry about your poor cat (((HUGS))).

Northern_at_Heart, welcome to the thread! As I read re. Stylist, the Tube, sounds like you are in London, so keep an eye on the London meet-ups and join if you can, I shall put a date for end Feb/beg. March! They tend to be in SE London where I live but anyone is welcome to suggest different venues!

Frith, sorry to hear that you had bad memories and felt bad as a consequence, but very well done on coping so well! Also, I used to cry when watching Casualty, I had to stop watching it - it is like Eastenders in hospital, all that emotion and everything happening at once - very disturbing.

Primrose, you are in good company, I never iron sheets (but occasionally do pillow-cases)!

Sparrer, I bet you are counting the minutes now for your holiday!

Hope that all who were unwell are better today xxx

Here are my pleasures for today:

1- DS cooked breakfast for himself and me - again!

2 - My friend and I went for a good long walk this morning.

3 - Also stopped at the cafe and had tea and half a piece of cake each (being good girls!).

4 - Beans cooked so dinner will be ready very quickly (pasta & fagioli soup).

5 - I have a contact with someone who can get very good discounts for my favourite skin products, so placed an order for face cream, deodorant and body wash - still not cheap but incredibly so compared to shop price, and all natural!

6 - Looking forward to the long weekend in Cornwall with DS, from tomorrow to Monday.

Good night and see you all probably on Tuesday, as I doubt I shall have access to a computer while away.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Evening all.

Caterina - have a lovely time in Cornwall.

ampersand - I'm very sorry to hear about your injury, and I hope you heal quickly.

sparrer - very well done on fixing your laptop! :T I'm quite techie-minded and I'm not sure I could do that (or more likely I'm just too lazy to try :o).

dundeedoll - I'm so sorry to hear you've been having a rough time recently, but I'm glad to know you had a good time at the meet-up. I hope things are starting to look up for you again now.

northern_at_heart - welcome to the thread! :hello:

    My pleasures for today:

    1) Being well enough to go back to work. I've now got a nasty cough but that was probably more annoying to my colleagues than to me. :o

    2) Snow. Not much or for long, but it was white and fluffy and snowy. :snow_grin

    3) Spoke to my sister and confirmed she's coming to visit on Saturday. (It was meant to be tomorrow but her bank has spotted someone trying to break into her account - - so she's got to have an emergency meeting with them to open a new (and hopefully more secure) account.)

    4) Popped into M&S and discovered their meal deal is on again, so I've got cheap pesce e patate fritte e peas di mush for dinner. (Why do I suspect that last one isn't proper Italian? ;))

    5) Remembered that I've still got half a portion of my last Chinese takeaway in the freezer, so that's tomorrow night's dinner sorted out. :D

    Have a nice evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

Loving the sound of bisi di mush (I think peas are bisi - Caterina?!?)

    1. Saw MrA and we're both going to be in London on Monday for different reasons so are going to meet up at Victoria and get the the train back home together :)
    2. Firmed up partying plans for my girly weekend, woo hoo!
    3. Saved petrol by shopping for a few food bits in the village rather than driving to MrT (where I would no doubt have spent a lot more and wasted valuable petrol!)
    4. Realised that I can now take back a dress I wasn't sure of to M&S as the party I thought I was going to has been cancelled (not a shame!) and I will have £32.50 on a credit note - just need to get to a shop soon!
    5. Taught DD to play Uno after school today and she thrashed me, I think I decided we need to make dinner when I was 9-2 down! She is a demon at the game :)
    6. Feeling blissfully happy and secure with MrA, think I might nearly be ready to refer to him as my OH!! Gulp.
