Hello everyone and a belated Happy New Year - back last night.

    Feeling broken right now.

I will catch up with all your pleasures over the next few days and, bluntly, will be trying to absorb them.

    Bless you all.

just gone 9pm, the crickets are noisy as they always are at this time of night, constant 'cricketing' for 1/2 hour every night! Just had a wee shower of rain but it's very humid & uncomfortable. (moany moany!)

1.Was fairly industrious this morning, got my bedroom tidied while it was cool enough.
2.I made rhubarb & ginger jam yesterday (got a huge bunch of rhubarb in greengrocers for $3.....or $2.99 but we don't have 1 cents or 2cents so everything is rounded up or down!) ,so 2 bags chopped in freezer & a lovely jar of jam made.......pleasure was eating it on my toast for breakfast! Very yummy!
3.Have eaten 3 oranges today & 1/2 a banana......oranges are cheap at the moment as are nectarines & peaches but the price of apples is shocking! About £6 for 1kg. I refuse to pay it.
4.Watched 'The Bill' (our afternoon guilty pleasure!) and then girls & I hopped on a bus to next town. Got off a stop earlier than usual as I had seen an Op shop last time we went by on bus......Well! It was a supermarket sized op shop! With shopping trolleys & loads of checkouts, I've never seen anything like it in my life! Rows & rows of clothes, shoes, bric a brac,
However, didn't buy anything there! Went into mall and managed to get what we were there for at reduced prices.
5.Got some more beautiful orchid flowers reduced at s'market tonight. I bought some weeks ago & there are a few flowers left on that bunch.....so these are lovely, deep purple colour & look lovely on my hall table!

It is Burns day today and Australia Day tomorrow!

oooh! also I drove home from supermarket!
My first time driving since we got here!
OH has a big, big car & it's automatic which I've never driven before.
I feel quite liberated after 3 months of putting off driving over here!
Done it once can do it again!

Many congratulations to Frugalpam re. 2 years smoke-free!

    Welcome back, Ampersand!

Happy Burns Night to all (I ought to go and get a veggie Haggis I suppose, we do every year, might just do so! Got tatties and nips already and DH always has plenty of whisky, so we would be sorted. Perhaps it is the good excuse to pop into Canary Wharf Waitrose - as if I needed an excuse LOL

Only here briefly, so see you all later for pleasures report

  • hello everybody

today has been a nice day with hubby, dreading back to work tomorrow though and all the stress that comes with it (im a senior manager for a major mobile company and its hideously hard at the minute) is 27 too young to retire? :D

    1) used car to do one round trip for all errands
    2) picked our new carpet that LL is paying for
    3) dropped off old towels and an unused cat bowl at the local cats protection
    4) showed them photos of our rescues (from them) and it was lovely
    5) decluttering to be re started shortly! exciting!

  • 1) Wiping off the limescale from my bathroom sink this morning after leaving white-vinegar soaked cotton wool on it overnight (shame my house now smells like the local chippy though :rotfl:) Just need to do the other sinks and the bath later in the week. :)
    2) Bringing in a HM lunch to work. :money:
    3) Planning a HM dinner - probably eggs, chips and beans.
    4) Going to a dance class with DH tonight. It costs a fiver each, but it's worth it to have some quality time together rather than just sit in front of the tv. :o
    5) Two days before pay day and I still have money in the bank so that's gone into savings! :j

    Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all well. My throat is still very sore so have been grumpy all day :( Not helped by the fact that the man in Dubai has completely ignored my "happy Birthday" text message that I sent last night. I guess I know his feelings about me now... which come as a bit of a surprise. A friend of mine posted on Facebook the following today which I have taken to heart: "if someone is meant to be in your life, they will make sure they are... it is really that simple" I just have to remember that.

Well done Pam on the smoking cessation!

    1) Nice welcome back from my colleagues

    2) Got a lift to and from work - stupid car is still not ready and now I won't be able to pick it up until Monday.... grr!!

    3) Nice chat with our environmental manager who was working from my office for a change. He is an exceptionally nice man and I always enjoy chewing the fat with him.

    4) Got my car insurance done finally (only 4 days late!) and thanks to the lovely Martin I got a better deal than expected... though it was still extortionate!

    ooh - struggling now...

    5) Packing to go to Edinburgh in the morning

    Night night

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    Hi all

Here are my pleasures for today:

1 - DS made me a cooked breakfast, the sweetheart!

2 - Instead of going to my craft class (I didn't have the fabric I need to finish the project) I cleaned my room in depth. Then, still burning with the sacred fire of housework I kept going and hoovered all the stairs and corridor, plus cleaned the laundry/cats room. DS, shocked by his mum's sudden housewifery, got inspired and swept the kitchen floor! The house is looking very welcoming and clean now.

3 - 2 lots of laundry done, too. DD helped hang it.

4 - Explored organic candles online and found incredibly expensive ones, even on offer. Then hit on So Organic, which is a shop just down the road, and found much more reasonably priced ones. So instead of ordering online I went down to the shop and bought them. They also let me use the "online" code so I got a good discount and 3 very nice organic scented candles, which will last me for ages.

5 - Rented 3 DVDs from the library, much cheaper than the shop! Including the 6th Harry Potter (the Half Blood Prince) which I hadn't seen. So after I watch this I can go and watch the last one.

6 - Dinner cooked and ready, tomato haddock casserole, courgettes and cabbage sautee` and boiled peas.

    Good night everybody x
