Another quickie poster as still in my jimmies . But I've changed two beds, got first lot of laundry in, cleaned the bedrooms and bathroom and started the dinner, as I have DS, his OH and their DS2 visiting overnight :D. They're on their way from oop norf to GOSH so not the happiest of times but still lovely to see them, no matter how brief.

Caterina the B'ham meet sounds wonderful, lots of people and also, by the sound of it, lots of fun and laughter. I get back on 19th Feb so any time after that is good with me for a London one :)
marmite oh, do I know that feeling. Spent ages yesterday sorting piles of papers, corners of 'just put it here for now', all now ship shape and Bristol fashion, or so I thought til I came down this morning to find the clutter fairy has been at it again in the night  ;). Where does it all come from, and more to the point where do I keep it...?

    for yesterday
    1. nsd
2 weigh day, nothing lost but nothing gained :D
    3. made the curry in the sc
    4. found a strawberry dessert in the freezer for tonights guests, chose that as I'm not keen on strawberries so won't be tempted by a calorie/fat laden pud, and it gets it used up
    5. Made a pot of chicken soup from the jelly and last scraps of a carcass which will make 2/3 lunches this week

    Have a good day everyone

    Hello,

I do love this thread. :)
    1. The screaming cat... annoying at first but I found her and all she wanted was a fuss. Felt guilty for telling her off about her "tom-like" howling.
    2. A warm house.
    3. Nice cup of tea - reverted to Twinings English Breakfast - found PG orrible.
    4. Oh dear I am struggling today.....

Am SO impressed with all your baking. I've lost my baking mojo. What's the easiest thing to ease me back in? So not too many ingredients or tins I dont have? Help! Your cakes all sound lovely. :)
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

    Caterina, I'm stalking you :D
This will be my first post on OS pleasures...so go easy on me! Plus, as i'm laid up on the sofa it might be difficult for me to find things! So if it's okay with everyone I'll post things that have made me happy?

    1. Absolute bliss when I finally fell asleep at 6am after a night of pain
2.Waking up to find some of the house work had been done
3.Likewise, waking to find little one having a nap
4.Eating a flake yoghurt...not really a yoghurt, more like melted chocolate pot nom nom
    5. Having a cuppa tea :)

6.Finding out My little Millyboo is going to famous(yet again :D) and in Bliss magazine(not the teenage mag lol, the premature baby charity)
7.Sifting through old photo's of Amelia to send to Bliss mag
8.Doing the interview on the phone!
9.Realising my daughter will be 'inspiration' to thousands of mummy's and daddy's sitting in NICU's across the country!

  • Another first poster on this board.

    1. Having a day off work whilst the kids are at school. (only happens once a fortnight)
    2. Chicken casserole in the SC
    3. Sorted some long-overdue paperwork
    4. Met, and had a hold of, my neighbours new son born last Thursday. Simply beautiful!
    5. Realised that I've already finished my coursework that's due in on Wednesday. :)

Hopefully going to continue the happiness by making some soup in the SC later on, reading my book and having a blitz of the kitchen. Might also try making a load of packed-lunch sarnies up for freezing so my mornings are less stressy and rushed!

    1. Nice week-end away, but oh too short!
    2. Long walk this morning to burn off too much roast duck & roast potatoes yesterday.
    3. Made minestrone soup this morning, using chicken stock and home-made tomato purree from the freezer, so another few cubic inches of space in there freed up.
    4. Appreciative 'thank you' from somebody for something I'd done.
    5. Arranging an afternoon tea get-together with a couple of friends I don't see very often.
  • 1. Work went well today.

    2. OH did the housework.

    3. Nice sit down this afternoon.

    4. Booked reasonably priced guitar lessons.

    5. Cuddle with Dollycat.

Evening, everyone. Here are my pleasures for today:

    1. A cup of tea.
    2. Haven't had much of an appetite, so the bread for sandwiches is lasting a little longer than normal.
    3. DH finished up the pasta from Saturday night's tea. I thought I was going to have to freeze some of it, but DH kindly polished it off for his lunch today.
    4. DH being my knight in shining armour (well, leathers). My car wouldn't start (again) at lunch time so he took time off to help get it sorted. It's now in the shop being looked at. Bless him. I don't know what I would have done without him.
    5. A couple of books lent to me by my Mum are proving very interesting indeed. Farmhouse Kitchen (a cookbook based on a 70s TV series) and a book giving anecdotes from an evacuee during the Blitz are proving to be great reads. Very cool. In the Farmhouse Kitchen book there's a recipe for "Matrimonial Cake" - a cake with a crunchy top, smooth filling and firm base which they say is aptly named because you have to take the rough with the smooth!

If life is dealing me the rough at the moment, at least I won't have to buy body scrub for a little while. Never mind. As I've been off my food I've lost 4lb - a bonus, at least. Hope everyone has a nice evening.

    Evening all.

Apologies for the brief post tonight, but I'm not feeling particularly well (I've got yet another sinus infection and, as usual, it's doing nasty things to my sense of balance :(). I'm determined to find pleasures, though:

    1) NSD.

    2) Tasty lunch of braised lentils and veg leftover from Saturday night's dinner, thinned out with water to make a rather nice soup.

    3) Coming home mid-afternoon, feeling lousy, and putting my snuggly slipper boots on. :D

    4) My new breadmaker, which is currently churning out a loaf for my tea. (I don't think doing anything which involves sharp knives or hot pans is a good idea when my head's spinning so much, but a sarnie made with fresh bread will be perfectly nice.)

    5) MY DM has offered to get me some more of my favourite bread flour from the weigh-your-own shop in her nearest town - it's £3 or so a bag over here (on the rare occasions I can find it), but only 78p a kilo bought loose on the IOW where it's made.

:hello: to new posters, and I hope everyone else is doing OK.
Back after a very long break!

    Evening all,

Like CCP and KB I am also under the weather - get better soon girls! I have tonsillitis again which has made me feel very ropey. I have completely lost any interest in food and all I have managed today is a half a cheese and tomato sandwich. I am going to have to force myself to eat something for supper though.

    1) Easy start to the day with my getting a late (off peak) train into London

    2) Visited an amazing charity today to see how the foundation I do some work with can support it. It is called The Haven and provides support to people with breast cancer.

    3) Left work early because I was feeling so rough. Bit of a strange pleasure but the fact that I have the flexibility to do so definintely is.

    4) Crawling into bed when I got home just before 5pm for a snooze.

    5) Cup of jasmine tea to try to get some fluids into me.:coffee:

    Night all... sleep well

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
