    hey everyone!

I'm back from Dubai and had a brilliant time! I want to go and live there!!!! This may possibly have something to with the rather lovely friend I was staying with...:blushing: It was pobably a good thing that I was only there for a week becaue I would have been completely head over heels if I had stayed any longer.

So some pleasures from the past week

    1) A week in the company of a gorgeous man

    2) Sunshine and warmth (though it did rain and was chilly at night)

    3) Completed my PADI openwater diving course. I negotiated a good deal and 121 tuition!

    4) Spent my final night bopping away to a fantastic band at a club. It was just like my student days when the atmosphere was really relaxed and friendly. My legs still ache from all the dancing!

    5) Coming home to my kitty cat... though the little blighter had managed to open my bedroom door and leave muddy paw prints all over my white duvet cover. The little monkey knows he is not allowed on my bed!

    Have a great weekend everyone.

    L:happylove

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

finscher - big hugs, sometimes its hard to find pleasures, but don't worry about whether they're OS or not, mine tend to be more personal than OS and noone's told me off :) Hope you'll be back with good stuff soon.

Ladyhawk - woo hoo on the Dubai trip, tell us more about the lovely man, I'm always in the mood for hearing romantic tales, soppy girl that I am :):)

Right, not sure if I'll be posting later as we're off for the weekend, but hope everyone has a lovely Saturday and *see* you on Sunday!

Well... not romantic or soppy I'm afraid!

We used to work together about 8 years ago but in different teams and we hardly had anything to do with one another then. And he was unhappily married. Fast forward about 3 or 4 years and we all went on a night out (I think we had both left the company by then) and after a good few drinks we ended up smooching (he was still very unhappily married). Shortly after that he and his family moved out to Dubai when his ex promptly left him for his friend.

We had been in touch every so often since then and when he comes out to visit the kids we always meet up for a drink (as friends). He often asked if I would go out to visit him (i think he is quite lonely out there and loves having visitors).

Anyway I was only going there as a friend... but when he pulled out the 241 vouchers I was smitten!:smileyhea
He is just such a kind, gentle, positive, fun person to be around. He rarely does grumpy and is great with kids (not only his own two). I think I many have mentioned about him before when he was out visiting, his daughter asked if I was going to be her new mummy and demanded to know when daddy was going to kiss me! Then last Friday night we were round at his friends house at a birthday party and one of the little girls there said "I think you (pointing at him) are in love with her" (pointing at me!) -there was a stunned silence before we quickly laughed that off. :o and he did eventually kiss me that night (though he claims that I kissed him first... bah!)

The only thing now is that don't know what on earth is going on. I know he doesn't want to do a long distance relationship and I won't be in a position to move out there for another 18 months at least. So where does that leave me?? Was it a holiday romance? Am I a friend? Friend with benefits? or girlfriend? He did refer to me as his girlfriend the other night at the club...

We are polar opposites in so many ways (me being moody, grumpy and messy and he being a chilled, happy, neat freak) that I am not sure if it is even worth thinking about? This is the first time in 10 years that I have actually trusted a man that I can't help thinking that there is something there? And this is why I just don't do relationships!

  • Ladyhawk follow your heart!

    1) Evening at the pub last night with DH and a couple of friends. I also came across an old college friend, someone from church and the neighbours at the end of the street. Anyway, it was a good night out for the price of two glasses of wine and two beers.
    2) A lie-in. A must for Saturdays.
    3) Got some wool for my new crochet blanket from the charity shop yesterday, and have just started using it. I'm making it for when DD goes to Uni and she's staying in a draughty old house.
    4) Family tea this evening and I have already done the cooking so I just need to put it out. Stretchy chicken salad with potatoes and rice and a big green salad.

That's it so far. Have a good weekend, everyone.

    Evening all.

Ladyhawk - I'm glad you had a nice time inDubai, but I'm sorry to hear about the swkward situation you and your friend find yourselves in. It's a really difficult one, isn't it? :(

fincsher - I'm sorry you didn't have any pleasures to post this morning - I hope today's going better for you.

mhagster - it sounds like you had a lovely trip. :)

sparrer - re ham sandwiches - I've been having mine with some of my dad's HM chutney. I'm nearly at the bottom of the jar, though, so I'll have to think of something else soon.

Caterina - it sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday, and I hope the meet today went well.

Tealady - I hopw your 'words' yesterday cleared the air and things are going better today.

Kittikins - I'm glad you and Mr A have got things sorted out. And what a nice osteopath! :A

    My pleasures for today:

    1) A long lie-in this morning. Actually an embarrassingly long lie-in - I just couldn't wake up! :o

    2) LO pizza for lunch. (Last night's fakeaway can be considered a success on the whole, although I must make sure to measure the water more carefully next time as I ended up with pizza dough you could pour. :o)

    3) Made it safely into the town centre despite my car having another stalling session on the very busy main road.

    4) Treated myself to a new copy of my favourite film on DVD, as I've lost my old copy and it was only £3. (Who Framed Roger Rabbit, since you ask. Acting like a grown up is over-rated in my experience. ;))

    5) One of my favourite dinners tonight - braised sausages and lentils.

    Have a nice evening, all.
Back after a very long break!
  • Good evening.I've not been here for a while.I'll try and catch up with your posts hopefully....

For the last week or so:

1 Had a great time with my Mum;she was here for a week.It was very mild and sunny here,so we were lucky. It's turned bitterly cold now, more snow to come too.

2 Had some nice walks and I even managed to go running a few times.

3 We both found lovely bargains in the charity shops:my Mum a woollen Paisley throw in muted colours, and me,a crêpe woollen square. We were both very pleased.

4 Cooking and baking galore...including potatoes boulangère,soda scones,a lovely cheesecake (Austrian curd cheesecake),whipkull (a Shetland pudding to celebrate New Year).

5 Managed to do some decluttering, still got a long way to go....

    And,just for good measure:

    6 Day off tomorrow.

Hope you all have a good evening x
  • kittikins - glad to hear everything is good with Mr A
And Ladyhawk - glad to hear you had a lovely time in Dubai with a lovely companion. Sounds perfect!
    Broomstick - are you a home-educator?
mhagster- caught a bit of Relocation down under and thought of you. I love hearing about successful relocations - what an adventure.
Tealady - hope you're feeling a bit more appreciated today.
marmite - mmm - your baking sounds very nice.

Well today didn't start off so great for me due to various annoyances and just 'one of those days' but I feel much more positive now.

    1) Was given a nice vintage sideboard from a freecycler so DH and I spent some time re-arranging our lobby and giving it a good clear out.
2)Had a great declutter - some for ebay, some for freecycle and some for the charity shop.
    3) Nice chat with my sister this morning (who did a great job of cheering me up) and another with my Sil this afternoon.
    4) Anticipation of watching Primeval with family soon.
    5) Planning what to do with all the YS goodies I found in the last week.

Hi everyone, finally trying to get back to some normality after the loss of my DM and also our dog. I didn't think we'd had too many blessings recently, but then I thought, actually every day is a blessing and I need to focus more on the positive parts of my life. So here's my 5:)

    1) Had a lovely dinner with DS1 and his partner last night.
    2) DH brought me a cuppa in bed this morning, bless him.
    3) Bargain walnuts purchased 39p per kilo instead of around £2.50p. I am going to use them in some baking tomorrow.
    4) Lovely long phone call with DS2 about his new job amongst other things.
    5) Bought a new very cheap child gate to keep my HOUSE RABBIT in the kitchen, he's an explorer and like chewing cables:eek: amongst other things, so now I can keep him safer.:)

Hope everyone else is ok. I have missed all the chatter and blessings.

  • Hello :)

My OS pleasures for the day were :-

    1) Catching up with a friend for coffee

    2) Getting rid of my 2 teen boys for the weekend love them but still.

    3) Planting veg seeds in pots with my 6yr old soil everywhere but we had a blast.

    4) Buying bulbs and plants from the pound shop and looking forward to spring.

    5) getting the 6 yr old to sleep early and having an evening to myself without Uni Essays to write or work to do!

Hope you all are having an equally nice evening
