    Evening all.

bluenose - that's great news about your DS's uni interview - very well done to him! :T

Kittikins - I hope you get things sorted out with Mr A soon.

    My pleasures for today:

    1) Another bud on my Christmas cactus, which doesn't understand the 'Christmas' part of its name and just flowers whenever it feels like it. :)

    2) The central heating at work has been fixed so we didn't cook today. And just to keep up tradition, the entry system has now broken - there always has to be something not working! ;)

    3) Had an interview with a financial adviser about the money I inherited from my grandmother. It wasn't exactly a pleasure as her patronising attitude to my charity donations ("oh, isn't that sweet?") put my back up a bit, but she had some good ideas that I'll be following up on (when I work out which bits are good advice and which bits are just her attempt to sell more products, anyway! :rotfl:).

    4) Got my car back from the garage, and they reminded me why I always use that particular garage: they couldn't work out exactly what the problem was but, as they're convinced it's not a major fault, they decided to leave it for now as they were worried they'd end up costing me money without solving the problem if they fiddled around. :A

    5) Found a voucher for money off cat food in my handbag - always useful!

    6) Fakeaway pizza tonight. (Hopefully, anyway, as it's my first attempt at making bread dough in my new BM.)

Have a lovely Friday evening, all. :)
Back after a very long break!

    1. Phew! Things are sorted with MrA, turns out he's having a bad spell with his illness and so his distancing wasn't personal to me, but that he was feeling pants....he's been so lovely today, we've chatted over what was going on in my head and he just said I don't need to worry, he's here for me....swoon. Hopefully we'll get together on Sunday evening :):):)
    2. Lovely chat with a mummy at DD's dance lesson, and it turns out we have lovely mutual friends - small world. I think I'll invite them all over for tea one afternoon :)
    3. Work was better than yesterday, nasty boss wasn't nasty - phew!
    4. Only bought DD and I fruit juices rather than "treats" whilst on the way to dance, spent less than £1.
    5. Made scrummy dinner for DD and I
    6. Lovely osteopath refused my payment this morning, DD is all better now. Bless her, I did try to pay, but she wouldn't let me....
    7. The joy of feeling happy again!

    Evening

Am feeling a bit  at the moment. Just feel OH and DD take me and all I do for granted so had a bit of a rant tonight. The house is very quiet now but at least they know how I feel:eek:

    Anyway pleasures for today,
    1. Walked to and from work today
    2. Took a panetone into work that was left from christmas, went down well
    3. Lunch at the pub with the girls lots of laughs and gossip
    4. Picked up my bracelet that had broken from the jewellers and they repaired it for free as was less than a year since bought
    5. Fake-out fish and chips tonight

Even when angry managed to find 5, this thread is so good for the soul. Hugs to all who need them

Good for you Tealady on getting your frustration off your chest, hopefully they will have taken it in and will be more supportive and get off their bottoms to do their fair share, hugs xx

    Hi all

I should be in bed having my beauty sleep before my trip to the B'ham OS Meet, but I just wanted to say hi before I go.

CCP, I also have a whole load of Approved Food tortillas, every now and then we have a nice Mexican veggie dinner, they seem to last forever in their vacuum packs!

    Sparrer
, thank you for good wishes. Yes a Spring OS meet is in order, when are you back from your travels? It will be great to catch up and hear all about your adventures!

Tealady (((HUGS))) I feel your pain, unfortunately I know all about being taken for granted, myself and the work I do around the house. It seems to be a mother's destiny unfortunately. Well done for making your voice heard!

Here are a few pleasures for today, not very OS I'm afraid but..... ah wotever, no excuses, I just loved it!

1 - Shopping day in John Lewis and then in Marylebone High Street with my friend.

2 - In John Lewis I returned a few items that I had bought online but were not suitable so I felt it ok to get myself a "little" treat - got a fabulous Hobbs dress at a ridiculous sale price!

3 - On to Marylebone, we stopped for lunch in a vegetarian Indian restaurant (more expensive than I would have wanted to spend but we were in treat mood!).

4 - A few more sale treats in Marylebone including amazing spicy chocolate from Rococo (too expensive as a regular treat, but once in a while it is divine!)

5 - DD and her BF picked us up from the tube station so we did not have to catch the bus all loaded up with shopping. Very kind of them.

6 - Later, all dressed to the nines, I met DH at the cinema and we watched The King's Speech. It is a perfect film, probably the best film I have seen in the last few years. Very highly recommended!

7 - Back home, we ate polenta with tomato sauce and stewed cabbage that DD had cooked for the family.

Off to sleep now, got a coach to catch tomorrow morning! Good night everybody and see you after the weekend. Have a good weekend! x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Evening all.

Busy day today and busy few weeks ahead.
    Five pleasures for today:

    1. Some interesting conversations with home-ed parents that I hadn't met before.

    2. Collecting a stack of drama costumes from the dry cleaners (which meant today was a money-spending day :(, but I knew the bill was coming up and getting the costumes cleaned was part of the deal in borrowing them). They look really lovely (and smell good too!) and this means that tomorrow I'm going to spend time doing the bits of mending and handsewing that need to be done on them before they get used for the film project we are working on.

    3. Oh, and one that I should have used for last night's list. We have been given access next week to a historic building which is closed to the public at the moment. We asked if we could do some filming there. I'm really pleased (and grateful) that they've said yes. :)

    4. The clementines I had at lunchtime were delicious.

    5. Wearing my lovely new shoes. :D

(and a 6th was putting another £1 in my pound a day pot)

    Sweet dreams

Broomstick sounds like you got some good buys with the shoes and trews:)
Frith to some bringing the logs in seems a chore, I don't know about you but I used to love the open fire when we lived in Droitwich and never begrudged having to prep and light it. Your talking about your cottage brings back happy memories of those days
Pam the ham sandwich sounds yum, I had the last of mine today with lettuce, cucumber, grated apple and zero fat yogurt in place of butter or spread. It'd be interesting to see how others have theirs ;)
Roz what a lovely warm feeling the ladies husband must have given you. They won't forget your kindness :)
CCP good for you being savvy about the solicitor, they really are terrible sometimes. Hope the pizza dough turned out well for the fakeaway evening
Kittikins pleased you're feeling a bit happier about the Mr A situation, and it wasn't anything to worry about. Love your No 7, I can feel your happiness :D
Tealady - families! Somewtimes they need a good reminder of what you do for them, well done you for letting them know. I've a feeling you won't have too much to complain about tomorrow ;)
Caterina what a super day! Thanks for the 'review' about the film, it's one I'd really like to see

    1. Phone call from DS, he, his OH and DS2 are coming to stay overnight on Monday
    2. I've no need to worry any more about getting all the moss out of the lawn in the spring, as DD's dog, who I'm looking after for a week or so, has torn it all out, along with any grass that may have been there .
    3. nsd, 12/21 so far
    4. Made an appt with a nail salon, they're not charging me the full price as it's my first visit and a friend who is a regular customer there recommended them :D
    5. Iron Maiden documentary - amazing

    Night night, sweet dreams

Just caught up on 4 pages worth of pleasures!
We have been on a road trip to Canberra for a few days......it's an 8 hour drive. We (me) were supposed to be up & at'em by 4am on Wednesday.......I switched alarm clock off & woke up almost 2 hours later, so it was a mad dash to get away.

Canberra is the capital city of Australia, where Parliament is held. It is a very small state in the bottom corner of New South Wales. I don't think it's a place many would go for 2 weeks holiday but for 3 days it was just perfect!

1.The sun was shining (and I was in holiday mode!) the stunning scenery of rolling hills as we drove through NSW was amazing.
2.Hotel was just lovely! Right in city centre, nice rooms, great swimming pool and the most delicious breakfasts which really did set us up for the day!
3.The museums are free entry to everyone. We went to the National Museum of Australia & had a go at 'pointilism' painting & our efforts will be included as part of an exhibition. We also went to the National War Museum. It was simply beautiful.
4.We discovered a lovely Chinese restaurant called 'Happys' and it made us happy indeed! The food was so tasty, we had a large round table with a 'lazy Susan' in the middle & we all shared from each other's choices...it was reasonably priced & the service was so good. .......we went back the next night!
5.My OH got back from work earlier than expected so he took kids to pool & I went for a wander round shops all by myself! I got a couple of bargains which had been reduced then had a further 50% off......and I did need them!

Long drive home, through beautiful scenery, saw an amazing sunset then we were 'chased' by the most beautiful almost full moon!

So a really nice break away, I'm now catching up on washing but sun is shining so will dry soon enough. Didn't spend as much on shopping today as we still had stuff in fridge we never used.

ETA: and now I'm cheering on Andy Murray as he plays in Oz Open.....perfect!
