Wow, so MrN really is your neighbour, I thought he was a few doors away - that's great, I thought I was lucky having Mr A in the same village! (Well, it will be more fabulous when and if we do the meeting each other's family bits so that I don't have to pick him up from the street corner, it does feel a bit sordid, lol)

A quick stop just to say:

Kittikins, there is no such thing as an interloper as you say, just jump in and come to a meet! Sarai la benvenuta (there, get this one translated for a start!).

Kitchenbunny perhaps I ought to start a free "Italian for OSers" online course!

Frith, are you coming to Birmingham? I hope so, it would be great to meet you! I shall be there with Mr Caterina.

Off to have fish and chips at the cheap Lewisham place with one of my London OS friends, see you all later xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Caterina - no, can't really come to Birmingham as I'd have to bring sons with me! Would be good, though. Do you know B at all? I meant to go to the Christmas market this last Christmas but never got round to it. It's about 30 miles from me.

    Kittikins - yes, 2 metres away. :-D

    Hi all,

What a pity you cannot make it, Frith, it would have been good to meet. I don't know Birmingham at all, this is the first time I shall stay in the city, been before but at a training event for work and stayed in a place out of the centre. DH and I will have a look around the centre on the Sunday before going back home.

Bravissima Kittikins e grazie, il pesce e patate fritte mi sono piaciuti moltissimo!

Here are my pleasures for today:

1 - Up early, made DH's good nutritious packed lunch (2 avocado rolls, 1 orange and 1 flapjack - for a treat and to stop him from buying kitcats!).

2 - Early morning shop with M&S voucher, got a few good bargains and saved 1/3 in total!

3 - Mini fry-up with DD and DS (egg, mushrooms, bubble and beans) but done healthily with frylight.

4 - Undid all the healthy breakfast by having fish and chips for lunch (but it was the small portion so not too much damage made).

5 - Met up with my friend at the fish shop and we had a nice catch-up.

6 - New specs very very retro, loving them!

7 - DD's BF brought us loads of bread from his new job in a bakery.

8 - DS agreed to go to the dental hygienist - he complained a lot before going but afterwards realised how necessary it had been and agreed to have a return appointment in 6 months.

9 - My dental hygienist appointment was completely pain-free, she said that my teeth and gums are in excellent state, for which I am really glad (especially as I do not like going to the dentist!).

Have a great evening everybody x

    Evening all.

Kittikins - I'm glad to hear your DD's feeling better enough to go back to school. I hope she continues to recover back to her normal self. I hope you manage to sort things out with Mr A, too - one way or another! ;)

sparrer - thanks for the sarnie inspiration - after reading your post I decided to have a ham sandwich for my lunch, too, and you're quite right - it was lovely!

    My pleasures for today:

    1) A cloudy day so the temperature in the office was an almost-bearable 25 degrees, rather than the 28 degrees we've had for the past few days. (It's amazing how much difference those few degrees make.)

    2) Ordered my new sofa. :j That's not really an OS pleasure, I know, but I've been saving for more than 2 years to get to a point where I can afford it, so I'm rather pleased with myself. :)

    3) Lunch of ham sarnie on some of my HM bread. :money: (Plus a bought salad as my appetite has come back with a vengeance now, having been absent since the weekend, but never mind. :o)

    4) My car's still in the garage as the mechanics can't work out what's wrong with it, so I had to get the bus home. :( On the positive side, I got to the bus stop to find the office manager already there, waiting for the same bus, so we had a nice chat on the way home.

    5) Chilli con carne burritos for dinner, using HM chilli (from a batch made before Xmas and frozen, bulked out with lots of veg), tortilla wraps from Approved Foods, topped with cheese I bought RTC. A very OS meal, I feel. :D (Although not quite as tempting as Caterina's pesce e patate fritte. Hey ho!)

    Have a lovely evening all.
Back after a very long break!

    Evening

    Pleasures for today:
    1. Gas engineer came to fix the boiler so no longer worrying that it could stop working any minute. Also knew we could pay for it without worrying about being overdrawn:money:
    2. As was at home later due to No.1 used the time to reduce the ironing mountain. Not quite gone but certainly a lot less of it.
    3. Used the what was left of the french stick from last nights dinner for my lunch with some RTC chicken.
    4. Chat with my mum on the phone and she sounded quite bright after a not very pleasant procedure at the hospital. She has got to wait for some tests back but the consultant wasn't concerned so fingers crossed
    5. Received a packet of decaff coffee in the post which I gave to someone at work as it will not get used in our house
    6. Quick pasta bolognaise for dinner as DD has guides tonight and not a lot of time.
    7. Walked home from work tonight, not done this for a while but was good to get some fresh air and clear my head after being stuck in an office all day.

Hugs to all who need them
  • Phew! Been a busy week so far and I haven't had a chance to come and catch up on everyone's pleasures. Hope you are all well and happy?

    Here are mine for today:

    1) A small-ish lie-in.
    2) Some good lessons today.
    3) Two for one dvd rental at the library. Got out 'Alice in Wonderland' for DS2 as we're reading the book at the moment. And 'Sin nombre' which looks...very harsh! From the sublime to the ridiculous!
    4) DS2 and I made some jam tarts after being inspired by our reading!
    5) Whilst I was taking DS2 to drama this evening, DH made us the most delicious home made pizza for when we got home. :D

Right, I'd better go and do some more work.

  • 1) Went to the doctor's for an appointment a day early (it happens to me all the time - that's why DH books all the holidays) and so had enough time to pop into the supermarket before ...
    2) Had my hair done today. My hairdresser is such a lovely young woman. We are under the threat of redundancy at the moment and she was at pains to tell me that her Dad had been made redundant two years ago but that they couldn't manage without him so they invited him back for even more money.
    3) Nice clean house. I love that feeling.
    4) Risotto for tea with left over stock.
    5) Soon, if DH gets off the phone, we shall be going out for coffee and dessert for a cheap date.

    Have a pleasant evening, everyone.
