5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Evening all!
Just quickly posting today's pleasures, as I'm watching a crafting show on TV (I'm addicted to card making...)
1) After a misty start, a lovely fine day with a blue, blue sky
2) Lovely card from my niece, thanking me for the Christmas presents
3) Not really been following WW since Christmasbut at weigh in, found I'd maintained my weight loss and not put any on :j Really do want to get back to it though, and lose a further half stone
4) It's getting close to my 2 YEAR quit smoking anniversary
5) Oh I love not having to go to work any more
Have a lovely evening, everyone. Hope all are well, and hugs to all who need them

Evening
Kittikins- Hugs to your DD hope she is better NOW
Pleasures for today:
1. Sorted out the meat that I had bought in the weekly shop and all portioned up and in the freezer to use as needed. Managed to get an extra bag of chicken by making the amounts slightly smaller.
2. Got some ironing done before work so the ironing pile isn't quite so bad.
3. Took a large pot of bean and chirzio soup into work to share in our department. Managed to feed 6 people lunch out of it. The soup went down very well with lots of positive comments. And all for the pricely sum of about a £1.
4. Chicken Curry (with the help of a jar), rice and naan for dinner. Prepared the veg and chicken this morning so just needed to throw it together when got home. I had a meeting to go to tonight so made for a quick dinner
5. Interesting meeting for the local friends of guides with some dates for the diary to help out at some events
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Primrose a lb lost is better than a lb gained
. Don't feel despondent, it's taken me 10 years to start losing weight
Frith, Date duly noted for future reminder, not that it sounds like you're going to need it with everything going well for you now. Well done you doing all that shopping, the other customers must think you're stocking up for a seige!
Kittikins I so agree about the NHS and am pleased your DD is feeling better. Your Mr A sounds like a pillar of support, and a really thoughtful person
laloopi spending longer with your DS is an excellent decision, if as you say, you can afford to. The image of him in his new 'proper' shoes made me reminisce about my wee sprogs - both adults now but wouldn't have missed those little moments for the world
Pam only 4 more days til your 2nd anniversary, wow! Well done you! It's almost 3 years for me, that's a saving of about £5k :T
1. Took back one of the dresses I bought for my holiday and exchanged it for a smaller size
2. Bought a beautiful bunch of flowers for my DNeighbour, (who sat with me til I was dropping off in the early hours of Sunday after a stupid breathing problem) to find they were reduced
3. Got word from the hotel in Kerala that the manager is going to collect us from the airport, saving us the taxi fare
4. Swapped dogs with DD, she has 4 females in season  and her alpha male is keeping everyone in the neighbourhood awake all night. Took my boy (neutered) to her and brought her Bert home for a week or two. He's so lovely, and enjoying the one to one attention
5. Rolling with laughter at a book, 'I fought the law' by Dan Kieran, which Caterina kindly gave me at the last OS meet. Really funny, and oh, so true
Night night, sleep tight

Few premature ones for today as im off to visit people and wont be back later
1. bought a bunch of lovely tulips for my Mam with 33% extra free
2. Fab vegan casserole made & loads left over - have packed some to give to veggie sister
3. Due to meet best mate for late lunch 2-4-1 pizza express
4. Just realised my loan paid off this month - thought I had another year! Oh my word!!!! hooray
5. Found a few cd's I thought had been lost & put on ipod for journey0 -
5 for yesterday (Tuesday). I am writing to you from the local library as my internet has been suspended (!) I'm with BT and don't really understand what has happened as I pay by direct debit each month. If I have gone over my limit, it's news to me that there actually IS a limit!
Anyway...
1) Looked after MrN's son4 from lunchtime onwards and that went well.
2) Wrote to MCS yet again about my final debt. They really are rubbish. Back in November I sent them a letter with a final offer but they have chosen not to reply and instead to send me countless letters accusing me of not paying each month (I have been) and that they will be taking me to court "within 24 hours". So I wrote to them and forwarded a copy to the Financial Ombudsman so that is a good job done.
3) Made quite a nice tea.
4) Read sons several bedtime stories which goes to show how much I have been relying on iplayer for them to watch something when they first go to bed.
5) Little son made me laugh to myself by regaling me with a blow by blow account of his day. He has selective mutism (esp at school) but had to spend 10 minutes of break time inside for swearing :-O and then shocked his teacher so much by suddenly telling her something about wrestling that she put it on the white board on youtube!
6) MrN came round :-) This was one of those evenings (first in many days) when I should have been chatting away nicely but just sat there wondering why on earth he bothers to come round or really have anything to do with me at all. Nothing like a bit of self loathing!
P.S Sure I read somewhere about there being a Birmingham meet?? That's somewhere I could actually get to!0 -
Afternoon all.
Thanks very much for your good wishes for my date. Sadly (well, sort of sadly), I've decided not to go ahead with it: I believe in listening to your instincts and mine are telling me that literally worrying myself sick about precisely how pushy and obnoxious my date is going to get after a couple of drinks means things aren't quite right. :undecided The fact he hasn't contacted me since Sunday suggests he's not really that bothered about meeting me after all, so it's probably for the best.
Pleasures for yesterday:
1) Feeling so much lighter, happier and less sick after making the above decision.
2) My car has started making some very worrying noises, and my nice local garage have managed to find time to see it today. (That may turn out to be not such a pleasure if they diagnose something expensive wrong with it, of course.)
3) Leaving the office at the end of work - the central heating is broken and it got up to 27 degrees yesterday (it's the same now, too).
4) Going out with friends to watch a band they'd recommended. The music wasn't really to my taste, but they were undeniably good musicians.
5) Walked home with one of my friends as he lives not far from me. Foolishly, we decided to take a 'short cut' through the back streets rather than walking along the main road - and promptly got lost.Luckily we both have a good sense of direction and managed to get back to where we should have been, but it made the walk home rather long and was a bit embarrassing.
:o
Frith - I hope you manage to get BT sorted out quickly. I've had 'dealings' with them before so you have my sympathy.
Kittikins - hugs to your DD - I hope she's recovering now.
Caterina - mmm, lasagne. It must be lunchtime!Back after a very long break!0 -
Sounds like you've made the right decision CCP re: the date......
Frith - I hear you on the self-loathing thing, I'm been having kittens today about the whole Mr A thing and wondering what he sees in me, why do I want to put myself through entering this friendship, etc etc. Luckily, I'm keeping those fears well hidden from him!! Relax and enjoy your time with Mr N, he sounds divine to me (and I'm sure most of the other people who read this would agree)0 -
I've never posted on this thread before but I work in the Arts and as you can imagine it's pretty damn bleak in my office today. Spend everyday by the end wishing for wine so I thought I'd try listing some things that have made me happy today (and maybe cheat with something from yesterday).
1. Made plans for Valentines Day and my boyfriend and I's birthdays (4 days apart in May) last night. I don't cope well with pressure and was very worried about having to be couply on Valentines Day and going out, didn't know how bf would take this. However he too embraced the idea of not going for a meal which to us would feel contrived to be eating out just because the calendar tells us to. He is cooking for me (saving the pennies) instead! Also decided to go on a camping holiday for our birthday (our first holiday together!) which is very thrifty and not what I would have chosen, probably for the best as I'd want 4 poster beds in a country house, and I'm looking forward to the time together.
2. I unexpectedly got a text from my best friend this morning inviting me round after work and so I now have any evening of company to look forward to rather than Sainsbury's Basic Wine spritzers in my pjs!
3. I thought I was finishing work at 9ish tonight but apparently I can go at half 7 and still claim the same amount of O/T pay
4. I went to Weight Watchers last night and have lost a lb. I was gutted (aiming for 2) but then realised if I keep that up every week I'll still be more than halfway to my target when I go back to uni in Oct.
5. Got to dress up in smart clothes today for work and went all out and feel lovely and smart and attractive. The boy told me I look very nice....a bit which is quite a compliment from him!0 -

I wouldn't fret about this. I suspect many of us will be doing the same. I personally would feel rather uncomfortable trying to have a romantic meal in contrived circumstances in a restaurant surrounded by everybody else. We'll be doing what we normally do - buying some nice ingredients and having a relaxed meal at home. We'll eat far better, much more cheaply, and nobody has to worry about drinking and driving either.0 -
CCP I'm rather relieved you've decided not to go ahead with the date, and pleased you saw a bad side of him when you met. Alarm bells rang for me when I read what you said, so I can't imagine what you must have been thinking. Hang in there, there are some nice people out there - they may not walk around with labels on, but they're there.
Frith 'Right, next time I'm all miserable, remind me that mid-January 2011 I did actually have a very nice weekend that stretched on into Monday! Can't remember being so happy for a long time (as in years...)' I'm reminding you! Not every day can be all sparkle and spangle, that would eventually be very tedious, having quiet, calm times is just as pleasing. And guess what? I think Mr N keeps coming round because he likes to, and likes you.
Didn't want to read and run so will be back later with my 5
