Hi everyone! Hope everyone's had a good day.
Well done CCP on deciding what to do about the date - I'm a great believer in going with my gut reaction. Hope your car repair doesn't turn out to be expensive.
Welcome rozmister - this is a lovely thread :j
Frith - am sure Mr N thinks a lot of you. Mind you, I got first prize in the lack of self confidence dept, so I know how you're feeling. Just think of all the others who enjoy your company too!
Thanks sparrer for the congrats on my almost 2 years quit anniversary - and well done on your 3 years quit too :T
Glad to hear DD is feeling better, Kittikins

    My 5 for today:-

1 Set to work doing some serious cleaning instead of going out to play or crafting :o Have a lovely clean and tidy bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and lounge - just need to do some hoovering after tea, and finish the rest off Friday (going out to play tomorrow)
2 Fine and sunny again today
3 No CH on today - only just switched it on (6pm)
4 Spag bol for tea tonight
5 Had good fun playing with puddy tat and her ping pong ball this afternoon

    Have a good evening everyone,
    Pam x

I wouldn't fret about this. I suspect many of us will be doing the same. I personally would feel rather uncomfortable trying to have a romantic meal in contrived circumstances in a restaurant surrounded by everybody else. We'll be doing what we normally do - buying some nice ingredients and having a relaxed meal at home. We'll eat far better, much more cheaply, and nobody has to worry about drinking and driving either.

That's how I feel about it it's all a bit contrived and I don't want to share my apparently special moment with 30 other couples also having an apparently special moment. Inevitably someone will propose to their girlfriend which is always awkward and I'll sit there praying we can go home soon so it can be just us and sinking wine like a fish! I'm glad I'm not the only one who'd really like a meal at home instead.

I was just worried because my boyfriend likes to do things properly (read as very sensitive and touchy feely for a man) and hasn't had a girlfriend for a while so I was worried we would end up with overblown romantic gestures and a meal out and it's just not me as sweet as it would be.

Might still stamp a paper tablecloth with heart shapes using a potato as a stamp and some cheap paint though because I always enjoy doing that around Valentines Day!

    Evening all.

rozmister - welcome to the thread! I hope things get better for you at work (well, we can hope! ;)) and that you have a lovely Valentine's Day and holiday.

Thanks everyone for your comments on the not-date - I'm definitely happier now so I'm convinced it was the right decision.

    My pleasures for today:

    1) Went up to the supermarket before work to get some cat litter - they didn't have any, but did have a tray of freshly-baked croissants so I treated myself to one for breakfast. :D

    2) Took lunch into work with me. I must get back into the habit of doing that on a regular basis.

    3) Picked up a couple more jars of M&S' scrummy cheese sauce, which is still on special offer. (I feel a little bit guilty about buying cheese sauce, but it's so good, and so cheap, that it seems silly not to.)

    4) My car is still in the garage :( but a nice colleague dropped me home so I didn't have to pay for the bus. :A

    5) My new BM is currently whirring away with my first attempt at a loaf in it. Fingers crossed it comes out OK (I'll pop back later and report, in case anyone's interested ;)).

    Have a nice evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

    3) Arrived home afterwork to a letter from Mr T with a £5 voucher apologiesing for miss charge on my reciept originally worth £1.79 :rotfl: Well its the principle ;)

Hmm. It's not bad for a first attempt, although it's sunk a bit in the middle - I thought the amount of yeast in the recipe looked a bit excessive. There's lots of scope for experimentation, though, I can see. :D

    Evening,

    Pleasures for today;
    1. Got to Boots for opening at 8.30 this morning so could buy presents for the year ahead and a few bits to put away for christmas. Stuck to the list I had in my head of what I wanted. Spent £66 but saved nearly £200 and that is all the female relatives for the year plus quite a few christmas presents:eek:
    2. Porridge for breakfast when I got to work, eaten whilst checking my emails.
    3. Booked DD an eye test for the weekend and trying to find an optician that does colour testing. DD is dyslexic, we know her preferred colours but have been unable to find anyone to make up glasses for her with a coloured lens. Will get there though.
    4. Bargain cooked chicken in Waitrose for £1.99 so that will sort sandwiches for a few days, some soup and possibly a meal.
    5. Dinner tonight of HM hearty sausage, pasta and veg soup with fresh french stick. Went down well with everyone and DD even went back for more.
    6. Bit more of my blanket completed.

Hugs to all who need them

Just back from a very late evening, had to take some people home and stopped for coffee with one. Well, two coffees in fact :)

    1. nsd
    2. YS ham for lunch in WW brown bread sandwich and a little English mustard. Haven't had a ham sandwich for ages and it was delicious :D
    3. Made a tea loaf to take to this evening's fellowship meeting, it all went with not a crumb left for me - not that I'd have had one cos I'm going to sneak a mid-week weigh-in in the morning :o
    4. Postie brought me a sample size moisturiser to trial, just the right size for my holiday
    5. One of my friends at the meeting told me of a good nail salon, as I want to try false 'gel' nails for my holiday so was pleased to have a recommendation. She said they're very reasonable too, which is definitely a consideration :D

    Night night, sweet dreams

Hi all, yesterday wasn't as great a day, but sure I'll be able to pull together 5 :)

    1. NSD - if taking some clothes back to a shop and buying a dress that according to DD, makes me look "divine" and some food with the refund money ;)
    2. DD is much better, and is going back to school today, with a note excusing her from PE just to give her muscles more time to recover
    3. Started a big declutter of my boudoir and feel like I broke the back of it, but if anyone other than me went in, they wouldn't really see much of a difference, lol.
    4. Popped to a friends' for dinner and a chat with DD, our traditional Wednesday night put the world to rights session.....
    5. Mr A has been a bit distant and I'm not sure if I like it....My pleasure is that unlike previous occasions, I'm not letting it affect me too much, and am not taking his wierdness on to me as my personal failing. If he turns out to be a wally, then that's his problem, not mine! :)

Have a lovely day everyone x

Thanks, everyone - feeling a lot better now. Am writing from the fireplace in my bedroom (!) as I still have no internet so am pinching MrN's wireless internet through my chimney!

    Here are 5 for yesterday.

    1) Went to the local market town with mum and dad. For no particular reason. Then had lunch with them.

    2) Got a letter about my final debt apologising for not replying to my letter - but not actually replying to it!

    3) Made quite a nice tea then cakes.

    4) Played the piano a bit.

    5) MrN came round :-)
