Evening
Elizabunny - Sorry to hear you have not been having a good time, hugs to you.
Ladyhawk - Welcome back from Dubai, sounds like you had a great time.
Well what a difference a rant makes, I know it won't last long but today has been very different in the Tealady household.
Pleasures for today
1. Lots of cups of tea made by DD today
2. OH went out and bought burgers and cooked them for lunch for everyone:rotfl:
3. I had a very relaxing day and got on with some crafting and finished another baby blanket, just one more to make of the 3 that were requested.
4. Easy dinner tonight and I had help preparing from DD
5. OH opened a bottle of wine so enjoying a glass of decent wine whilst typing
It has been almost funny today seeing the effort they have gone to sure it will be back to normal tomorrow but at least I had a day off.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Ladyhawk pleased you had a good break, I wouldn't worry too much about if there's a relationship or where it's going. Enjoy what you have now, if it's meant to be more you will find a way together, if not you still have a good friend. Holidays are terrible for giving us all sorts of ideas and confusions
Mhags what a lovely few days you've had exploring a different part of the country. Mind you I should think there's enough new places to keep you busy for a lifetime
(((elizabunny))) wishing good things for you
Tealady nothing to say really, just long may it last
1. nsd
2. Found a shoulder of lamb which has been in the freezer for a couple of months, it was too big for just me so have taken it out to cook on Monday when DS and family come.
3. Cleaned my bedroom and the small bedroom ready for my guests
4. Got all my filing, which has been building up in a pile for weeks, sorted and put away. Amazing what small jobs I can get done when I have to
5. The sun shone for a while :j. It was still cccold, but there was a definite bright light in the sky
Night night, sleep tight

Morning all,
Hope you are all well and enjoying your Sunday.
Thank you for all your words of encouragement and advice re the man. I am not going to obsess and what will be will be.
So my pleasures from yesterday...
1) Afternoon snooze
2) Reading my book (Mr Rosenblum's List) which was a light, innocent and enjoyable read.
3) Going to a friend's 40th birthday party and being hit on by one of her friends. It's always nice to be made to feel attractive. The venue was a nice pub which had a pretty good live band.
4) Chatting to an old school friend on facebook who I have not spoken to in about 15 years. She lives in Dubai now in the apartment block just on the opposite side of the marina from where I was staying! Wish I had contacted her before I went over there!
5) Doing a massive load of washing which I will iron this afternoon
Two not so pleasant things happened yesterday. The garage tha I had my car towed to before I went on holiday (it immobilised itself) are complete muppets. They claimed to have fixed the problem before I left but I said to them, please keep it while I am away and try starting it every couple of days. Well needless to say they didn't do this. I called them in the morning to make sure everything was ok and that it was starting ok. They admitted to not having tried it and that they would do that right away and call me back. 45 minutes later I still had not had a call back, so I called them. They said it had started fine but was just blocked in so could I give them half an hour before I collected it. They then called back 10 minutes later to say that the fault had reoccurred!!! GRRR Lying *******'s! So now I start yet another week without my car!
The other unpleasant thing is slightly more serious. My friend M lives in australia. She moved back there about 3 years ago and is desperately unhappy. She has a history of depression and seems to be becoming increasingly paranoid. Apprently there is an email going round about her that everyone in her city has seen except her and people point and laugh when she leaves her flat. she also says that she has been getting nasty emails and text messages. Anyway I don't know what to do to help her besides being there to listen to her and provide encouragement... all very distressing. any suggestions?
Have a lovely day

Hello
Have nipped on to parents' computer to divulge yesterday's delights!
1. Low spend day, just some flowers for my lovely mummy, chosen by DD and adored by all
2. Giving mummy a nice birthday dinner surprise by asking the waitress if she could bring a candle when it was time for pudding, I can't believe my dad hadn't already mentioned it - men!!! She was tickled pink
3. Scrumptious 3 course dinner with family at a lovaly restaurant they all know and I went to for the first time - and dad paid
4. Being selfless and driving us all there and back, I'm such an angel!
5. Lovely chat with MrA on the phone and lots of texting. Feeling like a smitten kitten(sorry, I will shut up about him at some stage, but please....not just yet
)
6. DD being the most beautiful girl in the world.0 -
Morning, all. Here's my five pleasures for yesterday:
1. Got a nice morning in the kitchen, and a lot of batch cooking done for the freezer or up and coming meals.
2. Roasted 2 large sweet potatoes into chunks while some brownies baked. The sweet potato chunks have gone into a freezer bag and the brownies are very tasty indeed
3. I was in the middle of making a tomato and bacon cannelloni for the freezer, when DH asked if it was for tea. We had it for tea instead, and it was yummy!
4. I started writing to-do lists again and felt good about crossing items off as I did them, including cleaning the bathroom.
5. Getting my mealplan done for the week, sticking to it, and hopefully doing so again this week!
I know my pleasures are mostly domestic (OK, well, ALL domestic) but that's just the kind of mood I've been in lately. I was pleased to discover when I got on the scales yesterday that I've lost 4lb since the last time I climbed on them. I hope I can keep that up! Anyway, hope everyone has a good day. Take care (((hugs)))

Oh Ladyhawk, your poor friend. Does she have family close by that you know at all? She sounds, in my very humble, non-professional, opinion, just as someone who gets depressed and paranoid from time to time, like she needs help. Will send her some reiki and lovely thoughts and hope that she will realise that the way she is feeling can be changed to a better state of mind xxxx
(also, woo hoo on being hit on at the party!!)

Good morning everyone!
My pleasures for the last few days:
1. Am really enjoying the get-fit regime! Managed 110 lengths at the pool on Friday and did an hour of cardio at the gym yesterday. Am surprised to be loving the exercise and can feel I am getting a lot fitter already. :-) I can remember back to after my chemo and the mastectomy, how awful and "old" my body felt; it is such a relief not to feel like that any more.
2. Watched Mary Portas on the catch up last night- really like her. Although she is tough she comes across as a very nice person and surprisingly warm.
3. Another 4-egg day from our chickens. I gave away some eggs this week, which I always get a thrill from being able to do, to neighbours and a friend who had done us a good turn. The blue eggs look very pretty in amongst the brown.
4. Cooked myself a delicious teriyaki salmon and noodle stir fry last night. It was fantastic to come back from the gym, cook in peace in the kitchen and eat such a delicious meal which is also healthy. (Recipe from my SW magazine)
5. OH has had another week of work this week! No phone calls yet for next week, but must count our blessings as he has done well this week and last week. Having some money coming in is such a relief.
Hope you are all having a great weekend. xx0 -

Thanks Kittikins. She doesn't really have much family - her dad died about 18 months ago and her mum hasn't really coped with life since and her brother is useless. I have contacted one of her friends that I think lives in the same city as her to see if I can get a little more clarity from her. The sad thing is that she is such a warm, loving person who life has treated rather unkindly. People have just taken advantage of her kind personality and abused her good will. It really is so unfair and she doesn't deserve it.:mad:Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Afternoon all.
Ladyhawk - I'm very sorry to hear about your friend. I think you're right to try and contact someone who lives closer to her - I find it hard enough with my sister when she's unwell (as she puts it), and she's only a couple of hours' drive from me. I hope your friend manages to get things sorted for herself.
Tealady - I'm glad yesterday went a little better for you - I hope the effect carried on today, too.
marmite - I had to go an look up whipkull, I must admit - it sounds quite tasty.I hope you enjoyed the results of all your cookin.
1) Another long lie-in this morning. (Unfortunately I've come to the conclusion that my current sleepiness is a result of not using my lightbox enough, so I must go and do some sunbathing in a minute.)
2) Had a nice chat to my dad about various things, including my visit to a financial adviser on Friday, and he agreed with all the decision I'd made as a result. It'a always nice to have a second opinion, particularly when it agrees with my own!
3) Bacon sarnie for lunch. (Nice but a bit crunchy - I accidentally cooked the bacon for rather longer than I usually like it.)
4) Had a bit of a cleaning session this afternoon - I've done the kitchen and cleaned off the frames of two sets of patio doors, so they're now all nice and sparkly clean.
5) Cheese and tomato pasta bake for dinner. It was a favourite of mine when I was a kid, and still feels like comfort food of the highest order.
Have a nice evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
