5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2
Comments
-
Hello,
I've not been here for a very long time but thought I'd post my OS Pleasures for today.
1. Getting just the right presents for OH's DDs birthdays, no savings but they are just what they wanted so we won't be taking anything back!
2. Transferred a balance from an old credit card to a 0% one and can see light at the end of the tunnel.
3. Sausages out of the freezer so may make toad in the hole for dinner. Or just sausage and mash!
4. Passed my book keeping exam this week and may have a client for some simple accounts already.
5. Off to look at a gardening job which will (I hope) result in my first paying customer.
Hope everyone has a lovely OS day.0 -
Welcome back to Lovely-cup-of-tea! The more the merrier!
1) Went out for our staff Christmas party last night. Just about found the restaurant in time as it was in an unfamiliar part of the city. The food was lovely. I couldn't finish mine. It was nice to talk to colleagues in a different setting too. Staff were paid for so it was a cheap night out.
2) DD's bf's Mum came round for a chat this morning. Like me, she's interested in growing things/local food/crafty stuff. Anyway, we found some Seville oranges while we were out so she's ringing back with her marmalade recipe later on.
3) Sitting and looking out of the window at the view. We are near a local beauty spot and we can see it very well from this particular window. Even when everything is damp and brown it's still lovely.
4) Got three balls of wool for £1 each. I'm going to crochet another blanket for when DD goes to Uni in case she's living somewhere draughty.
That's it for today. Have a relaxing weekend everyone.0 -
Afternoon everyone
Sorry to have been AWOL for a couple of days. Had a nice day out with a friend on Thursday, had a rotten stomach upset yesterday and only just feeling human again
Some pleasures from the last couple of days:-
1 - Nice day out on Thursday. Not very OS, but I got a bargain pair of Hotter shoes (remnants of a sale) for £25 marked down from £60ish. They are soooo comfy
2- Nice to be feeling better today and able to keep food down (even though my tum is still a bit sore)
3 - Enjoying watching a fascinating series on 'History' channel about underground cities of the world. Lost and forgotten tunnels and catacombs etc under cities like Paris and London or under castles. All very spooky and atmospheric
4 - Enjoying reading some of my favourite blogs and this thread
5 - Just enjoying chilling out with puddy tat on my knee
Hope all those who are under the weather feel better soon,

frugalpam hope you feel better soon
Primrose dp and I signed up for the Fish Fight earlier this week when the total was around 69,000, total now 402,142
Sadly dp's dad died this morning, so dp and dsd travelled up to see his family straight away whilst dd and I stayed at home as school on Monday"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -
Hi all,
I don't post on here every day but feeling so much happier with my OS life and being at home full time. Anyway here are my pleasures:- Doing lots of cooking from scratch and it being appreciated. The last couple of times we have been out to friends or relatives I have taken biscuits or a cake and people appreciate it so much more when you have made it yourself and it costs so much less
- Spending time with my DGS and reading him books and making animal noises:rotfl:
- Watching Human Planet with my DS3. It's fantastic finding a programme that we can all watch together and enjoy it
- Making lots more gifts instead of buying. Currently working on a recipe book for my mum for her birthday.
- Always having something to eat and not having to order takeaways because in the old days "we had nothing in despite spending a fortune on food"
- looking around charity shops and finding a bargain
- Not feeling the need to go shopping every single weekend for new clothes that I don't need
- Snuggling with my DH and watching a movie Priceless

Evening all.
GirlySquare - I'm very sorry to hear of your family's loss. Hugs to you.
frugalpam - I'm sorry to hear you've been so unwell recently. Get well NOW!
lovely-cup-of-tea - welcome to the thread! :hello: Good luck with getting your first customers - it sounds promising from your post.
Kitchenbunny - I hope your ankle and your car get better soon.
Ginger Snap - I'm glad to hear the doctors didn't find anything really nasty, and I hope your new diet makes you feel better quickly.
Frith - I love reading about your sons - they sound like a great pair. I hope your bigger son gets to fulfil his ambition at some point.
mhagster - I hope you're OK - I saw on the news that Victoria's threatened with floods now, so I really hope it's not your part of the state that's in trouble. Please let us know you're OK!
My pleasures for today:
1) A lie-in this morning, listening to the wind and rain outside and being very grateful that I was inside.
2) Had a phone call from my sister (only two days after she said she'd phone - she's hopeless!), and we've arranged for her to come and visit in a couple of weeks' time.
3) Listened to the football on the radio. (As last week, the pleasure is having time to sit and listen to the radio - the result was, once again, no pleasure at all. There's not much fun in being a Portsmouth FC supporter at the moment.)
4) Did some research on the internet on getting a new car, and there's several local garages that have some promising-looking ones. (I'm going to spend some of my inheritence on getting a decent car, before my current, held-together-by-rust model goes the same way as Kitchenbunny's.)
5) Lasagne for dinner. It's sitting in the fridge all ready, and I just need to put it in the oven when I want it. How efficient of me!
Have a pleasant evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Slightly hectic rainy day here in Yorkshire - However pleasures for today -
1. Collected 1st veg box - new local scheme and some brill produce (all for a tenner) Paid £2 extra for some artichokes & horseradish too yum
2. Big shop done today rather than tomm yay
3. Bought some daffodils for the flat
4. All meals planned for week ahead & flat quite tidy
5. Bought a new (v cheap) radio for the kitchen as left mine at in-laws over Xmas, and miss it.
Extra sneaky one - trip to craft shop & got all supplies for the felt zombies Im hoping to make with my new book0 -
Soooo tired. Too much burning the candle at both ends.
Quick five for today:
1. Yet another NSD despite the fact that I've been out and about all day.
2. Discovered that I could take hot porridge with treacle in a wrapped-up sandwich box and it tasted fine two hours later when I managed to get round to eating it. Together with the insulated mug of coffee I brought from home, and a little orange it made an OK brunch and kept me full for ages. I've now sussed the hot breakfast on the move problem.
3. Got the calendar for 2011 up to date at last.
4. Local writers' newsletter arrived in the post this morning.
5. Got the meal plans done (already) for next week which is going to be a horribly complicated one.
Off to bed... sweet dreams everyone.

Hmm, odd, I thought I posted yesterday, but can't see it now...so here are a random selection
1. MrA came over for lunch yesterday
2. Had a great girls' night out last night, although the cocktails were perhaps a step too far!
3. DD had a sleepover at a friend's so I was able to stagger back from the pub far later than I would have had I been using a babysitter!!
4. Made a fabulous risotto tonight using up lots of limp veggies from the bottom of the fridge, that was voted 100 thumbs up by DD
5. Managed to do a bit of studying whilst DD was having chess tuition, met some lovely people at a training day, and she impressed me and the trainers with her concentration.
6. Low spend day.0 -
Hi all!
Sparrer, when I phoned my mum for our weekly chat I told her I went to see La Boheme in English and she was surprised, I explained that all the opera I have seen is in English because to go to see it at the Royal Opera House would cost me a fortune (unless BargainRzl can find me cheap tickets! Are you there BargainRzl?). But in the end we agreed that the music and the sound of singing is so good that the words are almost irrelevant. To be truthful when I hear it in Italian (on CD) I miss most of the Italian words too, it is almost like a different language!
Ginger Snap, good to hear that your endoscopy went well - I keep meaning to have my stomach checked but have been far too chicken to face it up to now.
Kitchenbunny, I hope your ankle recovers soon!
Primrose, thank you for the Fish Fight link, I have now signed the petition. So far 413,768 people have signed!
Here are my pleasures for the last couple of days:
Friday:
1 - Finished washing the windows in my bedroom, it is really clean now and it feels lovely to be there.
2 - Listened to music while cleaning and it felt really good to be doing things for my home.
3 - DH's martial arts suits washed and hanging to dry on the banister.
4 - Watched Edwardian Farm on catch up TV.
5 - Went to bed early with a cup of Roiboosch tea, lit a couple of candles, including the salt one that my OS friend gave me (thank you, it is fantastic!), put Elvis on the CD and chilled out. Perfect end of a good day. DH commented on how lovely the room looks now that it is so sparkling clean and decluttered. May it stay that way!
Today (Saturday)
1 - Breakfast in bed courtesy of DH.
2 - Jumble sale at the church across the road, got 6 cushions with very nice covers for £3, lovely stripy butcher's apron and 3 traditional teatowels for 25p, a lot of reusable nappies with covers in excellent condition for £5 (planning to resell on ebay or gumtree!).
3 - Tea and shopping with a friend.
4 - Another friend came visiting in the afternoon.
5 - DD told me that she really enjoyed spending time with me yesterday, I said we did not do much and she replied that just the spending time together was lovely. Ahhhh!
6 - DS is back from visiting a friend where he stayed overnight last night. Good to see him back.
7 - DD's BF has started his job and he is really enjoying it. Also, he was very worried about having to start shifts at 4am and not knowing how to get there (no public transport and very high parking costs) so they agreed that he would only do these shifts on weekends when he could get free parking.
8 - Was planning a takeaway instead decided to make dinner at home and it came out lovely (brown rice with rattattouille and kidney beans).
Good night everybody x
Edited to add: Girlysquare I am sorry to hear about your DP's father's passing - sorry I missed it when going through posts, got distracted by the Fish Fight stats. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
