evening/morning!
1.lazy morning.......I know another one! However , in my defence, I finished off 2 books that I was reading!
2.Very hot & humid today & wore my new to me knee length jeans bought in op shop on Monday, fit perfectly & only cost a few dollars!
3.Discovered that the gingham single duvet was in fact a double bed sheet set, a fitted sheet that I made sure fitted my king size mattress! and a top sheet & 2 pillowcases. Took my duvet off & put a thin quilted throw on top.It has been very warm & humid overnight last few nights & forecast for next few days. Tis a very pretty set!
4.Trying hard not to moan about the weather considering what others have been getting , shocking coverage on news all day about Brisbane.
5.Have finally got a tidy email inbox.......everything in it's own wee file! Trying to do a decent email a day to friends/family so I can now see who needs one/owes me one!0 -
oh dear, I'm slipping and not keeping up with a daily post. On the other hand I'm sleeping a lot better than I have been so I guess I can't have everything
Frith I shouldn't laugh, but your DS1's reply was pricelessand no way should he be in trouble, in fact he'll go far. Ask the teachers what was so illogical about his answer
5 for yesterday
1. nsd - much needed after buying a new lappy the previous day
2. Weighed in and have now lost 10lb since 26/12 :j, just by cutting down drastically on fatty foods. My theory being fat makes fat and that's what I am, so that's what I need to reduce. It seems to work for me, and the fridge and freezer are gradually filling up with all the 'right' foods
3. The daffodils just poking through the soil, the snowdrop tub is in full bloom and it looks like all the fruit bushes etc I bought in the autumn have survived the awful weather
4. Thanks to :money:and the windfall my ISA is now at its limit. Never experienced anything like that before!
5. A great meeting with my fellowship last night, lots of banter and laughter, all free
Have a good day and stay safe

Yesterday's joys:
1. MrA keeping in touch with me even though he was out gallivantingSo looking forward to seeing him again tonight
2. Low spend day, shame it wasn't a NSD, I started the year off so well!
3. Freegler gave me fabulous huge photo frames so I can put more of DD's artworks in them when I get myself organised
4. Went for a swim at lunchtime
5. Popped to a friend's for a girly natter and wine whilst the children played....need to stop doing that so early though!0 -
Then the head was talking about the Earth being created and held up a globe and asked the school who made it. Bigger son, already annoyed about 1 telling off, said, "A globe factory".... :-D
Frith priceless, rofl! Well done bigger son, I'm still giggling away!
1) breakfast in bed courtesy dp
2) cuddles from dd
3) friendly 'phone conversations with work colleagues
4) cr*ppy drive in, better drive back, car still behaving, fingers crossed
5) dp bought A*da pizza for tea, yum!"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -
Evening
Pleasures for today:
1. Would have been a NSD but had the boiler serviced. This was a planned spend though. What wasn't planned is the work that needs doing on Monday which will cost another £200.
2. HM Soup again for lunch today
3. Easy dinner of spag bol which everyone ate
4. Chat with mum on the phone and she sounded a bit brighter than she has recently
5. DD has her first proper guide meeting tonight as a young leader:eek:
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Evening all.
Frith - your DS definitely deserves a round of applause for his comment - it's a great bit of lateral thinking. (And very true, of course!) :rotfl:
Mine for today:
1) Spent the whole morning in a work presentation - it wasn't particularly interesting but a) was better than actual workand b) included a free lunch.
2) Received the money from my grandmother's will, although of course that's not a 'pure' pleasure as I only have all that money because of the loss of my grandmother.I just have to keep reminding myself that it's what she wanted.
3) Treated myself to a glass of cider while making dinner. (Well, it was meant to be a treat - I got the stuff cheap after Christmas and it's sadly tasteless.)
4) Managed to salvage some of the mushrooms from my veg box - the delivery man accidentally left the box under a leaky gutter, so most of them had gone manky. I got enough for dinner tonight, though, by cutting off the really dodgy, slimy bits.
5) Macaroni cheese (with mushrooms) for dinner, using - - a jar of cheese sauce. It was M&S, though, so good quality, and on special offer so it was cheaper than making my own. (And it's really lovely, too - I had to lock the rest of the jar in the fridge so I didn't eat the remainder with a spoon rather than using it for another meal.)
6) An early night tonight as I've got an early start tomorrow. (Hopefully, anyway. I left my mobile phone at work this evening so I'm not sure quite how well I'll do without my trusty alarm.)
Have a nice evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
My five for Thursday:
1. Another NSD. Today was hard because I really wanted a bar of chocolate and couldn't buy one because of the NSD deal I have done with myself. I'm feeling really really pleased because I talked myself out of stopping at any garages when I was driving. Oh and I topped up the sealed pot with a fiver so that will last til 17th.
2. Partly to stave off hunger, I ended up making a late breakfast of porridge with honey. I'd forgotton how yummy it is.
3. Watched part of a Country Tracks documentary on iplayer about Jane Austen's house at Chawton. We've never visited but what a pretty place - that was an unexpected find.
4. Seeing a bunch of friends we hadn't seen since Christmas.
5. Am trying to coordinate organising classes for lots of children at the moment and keep getting friendly, thanks-filled e-mails from lovely parents. It's nice to get so much positive stuff in the inbox!
Sweet dreams

Gingersnap and sparrer :T well done on your weight loss. 10lbs - that's fantastic
Frith - I lol-ed so hard at bigger son's answer. The teacher surely had to laugh too? :rotfl:
Here are mine from yesterday:
1) DS1 got his book review in to the publishers. It will be really good if it gets featured.
2) The local charity shop had a table of kids books out for just 10p each. I snapped up a big pile.
3) DS2 started drama class again and he was delighted to be back.
4) The mild weather yesterday. Maybe the storage heaters can be turned off for a while.
5) Having a nice relaxing saunter around the library while DS2 was in his drama class.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Hi all
went MIA for a couple of days, busy busy again but very happy, and here are some pleasures for the last couple of days:
Wednesday:
1 - The optician gave me an amazing discount on my new specs (most of it is paid by the insurance anyway so I am going to get a nice new pair of "retro" specs for a very reasonable price)
2 - The signing on process at the job centre was not traumatic at all (I was getting a bit frazzled at the idea in advance), the woman was very polite and helpful.
3 - Last voucher from my old employers' leaving gift used up: a lovely massage at the Organic Pharmacy, what a treat!
4 - Met DH for dinner in town
5 - We went to see "La Boheme" in Soho theatre, a modern version sung in English, very well done and incredibly moving - I always cry at the Opera and on this occasion too, of course! Soppy old me...
Thursday:
1 - DH at home in the morning to meet the loss adjusters for the cracks in the wall, which is not pleasant in itself, but it was good to have him around and he made me his signature porridge dish.
2 - My friend agreed to cancel the Morsbags session because we were both quite busy, so I managed to spring clean my bedroom and I have started washing the window-frames (nearly done, will finish today) and do a couple of laundries
3 - Got free cinema tickets to see the preview of Morning Glory and went with a friend, lovely film, highly recommended.
4 - DS made Pasta e Fagiol with the last of the allotment borlotti beans (from the freezer).
5 - Wore my new cashmere cardigan (John Lewis sales) and got lots of compliments, including from DH (who normally does not notice these things!).
Off to do some more cleaning today, see you later for more pleasures xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Late o'clock for me, so will quickly list my pleasures before heading to my beautiful gingham sheets!
1. Up bright & early, for a pleasant change!
2.Went into next town, with my girls, had a wander round shops and some lunch. Got some large candles for $2, about £1.25. Left in lashing rain but came home to sunshine.
3.Managed to catch up on washing, I like to (need to) wash everyday, and because of rain but also humidity was struggling to get yesterdays dry, hung a load out this morning then it absolutely poured down, so was pleased to see the sun out this afternoon. Air had been cleared by rain,so much more pleasant & bearable.
4.Got my new sofa bed tonight, so had a clear out of 'stuff' that had accumulated in the corner it was to go in. Looks much better now.
5.Had a lovely long chat with a dear, dear friend on phone tonight & then a not quite as long one with my niece. Lovely to hear familiar voices!
6.Finally made 2 large collages of photographs that I have been meaning to do for a while. One from our leaving party and the other from our last few weeks at home. Every time we met up with friends/ family to say goodbye I took lots of photos. My beautiful dog has centre stage! Saw her on webcam yesterday & was sad as we miss her but know that leaving her with my mum was for the best.
Right it's almost 1am......I'm never up this late....Night!0
