5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2
Comments
-
Well, when I got to work this morning it was to discover that the boiler had run out of fuel (faulty gauge apparently!) and as there was no central heating and, crucially for health and safety it seems, no hot water the school was closed for the day!
So my pleasures today are:
1. No work today!!!!!!!! (did I mention that?!)
2. Brought my son who goes to the school I teach at home and we had a lovely, unexpected day pottering about.
3. With DS's help, cleaned out the inside of my car- I job I had been putting off for ages!
4. Popped to the supermarket for a few bits to tide us over until Friday, and bought son a kids meal for lunch. (Very good value and quite healthy!) He and I had a great time, enjoying each others company. I will really miss him when he grows up and doesn't want to be seen with me any more!
5. OH received cheque in the post for almost £300 for a big electrical job he did for a chap in about September who had "forgotten" to pay, despite several reminders. We were beginning to wonder if we would ever get it or have to resort to threatening him with a solicitor or something. The money is perfectly timed as funds are very low at the moment.
6. Beautiful sunny weather, always brightens one's mood.
Have a great evening everyone. xx0 -
Hi all
Broomstick, glad I was instrumental in reminding you of the M&S voucher, it is a good discount and really worth using. Makes me extra glad for having stopped the no-supermarket challenge, as in January it is not the right moment (for some of us!).
Hope you are all well, hugs to all who need them!
Here are my pleasures for today:
1 - DS bought baked beans on his way back from his paper round and made me breakfast (baked beans and egg on toast).
2 - I spent a lovely day at the craft class cutting up 5 pairs of DS's jeans which were all broken and frayed, but now I have a lot of really good strong strips of fabric, I think I shall make a sofa cover (throw) with them. I have also salvaged the back pockets and will make a panel with pockets to put stationery in and hang it near the computer. Also salvaged the zips but not got around to do any unpicking yet.
3 - I took some leftover soup to the college and heated it in the class microwave at lunch time and ate it with two slices of bread and two kiwi fruits.
4 - I have started clearing my craft stash!
5 - Cuddle with DD before she went to her BF.
6 - Dd's BF has been offered the job he had the interview for!
Have a good evening everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Caterina congratulations to your dd's bf on his new job!
1) breakfast in bed
2) cuddles from dd
3) car behaving itself (fingers crossed)
4) getting over to our other office today and had a chat to colleagues there
5) colleague complimenting me on my coordinating top and scarf, top reduced M&S last year, scarf years old from dottie-p's"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -
Kittikins - hope you're having a nice time with your new friend this evening
Caterina - Good news about your dd's bf getting the job :T And your craft class sounds fun!
I'm feeling a bit  at the moment after having just received a negative feedback on e**y. They are cross (understandably) that they won the item in November and I posted it immediately, but it apparently only just turned up today! But I didn't know anything about this delay so I feel the feedback is very unfair as they can see from the post mark when I posted it! I had 100% too with 13,000+ sales over the past 12 years
Anyhoo, sorry for the moan. The day had been pleasure-filled before that annoyance:
1) Seeing a weasel running across the road this morning. They're such funny little things - reminds me of a Sylvanian Family character.
2) Well and truly getting the veg down the family today with an hm veg soup (made from a ys stew pack) for lunch and the leek and lentil casserole for tea.
3) Some very good work with the boys today.
4) A book I won in a blog giveaway turned up this morning.
5) Taking the boys to the local holiday park so they could spend some of their pennies in the arcade. They made it stretch a long way!DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Hi.
For today and the last few days:
1 Have been running twice : on Sunday(in the pouring rain) and today. Also have done stretches afterwards.
2 Have managed to change my off-duty,so that I only work one day whilst my Mum is here.
3 Have finished cataloguing my dvds (all 1033 of them) and have also taken two bags of dvds to the charity shop.
4 I have unbitten nails for the first time in a long time!
5 Think that I might manage a reasonably early night tonight.
Have a good evening x0 -
Evening
Pleasures for today:
1. Worked from home this morning so could take my time pottering a little bit.
2. Had a quote for cavity wall insulation which was very reasonable so have booked in for it to be done in March. It is so nice that we are now in a position that we can spend some money on our house after years of just about being able to pay the mortgage.
3. Lunch at home of HM chicken and veg soup plus a small slice of bakewell tart
4. Really good afternoon in the office where I managed to sort out all our audit paperwork. Such a relief
5. Popped into Waitrose and only bought the bread I needed.
6. Yummy dinner of HM crispy chilli chicken (did use a bottle of sweet chilli sauce) with HM fried rice with cashews. I have got out of the habit or writing a meal plan but did one this week and remembered that it really does help.
hugs to all who need them.0 -
Evening all,
Hope everyone is ok
1. Packed lunch by OH
2. Simple dinner of jacket potato and coleslaw
3. Had a go at homemade garlic bread yesterday, it was a real mixture/bodge but tasted ok. Waitrose do one of those posh balsalmic dressing bottles (it's syrupy lovely stuff) that's often squirted over starters - me and OH loved the stuff.
4. OH retrieving the bottle top from the just opened posh balsalmic dressing!
5. Seeing a friend and still being impressed how articulate he is, lovely chap
Night-all.Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

1) Being given two empty but posh jam jars by a colleague.
2) Realising that the charity shop jumpers I bought recently will actually do nicely for work.
3) Going to pay for DH's place on the staff do and realising that work owed me some money for resources I brought in, so it was less than half price.
4) A rose-scented bath after I got in from work.
5) Finding a pattern for a rag doll for a friend. I knew I had it. She is going to make a present for her granddaughter.0 -
Evening all,
Got to the station today and realised that I had forgotten my purse at home... so had to go back to collect it.... luckily I still arrived in the office on time.
I've been very naughty today and went out for lunch and supper (bad, bad girl!!) Oh well...
1) Was at our small London office today which was nice - got to shut myself away in the office and get on with my work without interuption.
2) Lunch with my friend A - yummy veggie pasta.
3) One proper day left of work before my hols... yay!!
4) Helped my friend L choose a bridesmaid dress for her sister's wedding. I am a little worried about her though as she is looking awefully thin as a result having the flu over Christmas
5) Found a lovely vegetarian restaurant just off Regent St called Tibits
http://www.tibits.co.uk/e/
Night all... just going to watch The Big Fish fight and then it is off to bed with me...
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
