Hi Everyone
Ok my second '5 pleasures post'...
1. Just roasting a chicken in the oven, which I always love because I know it will provide at least 4 meals for me and DH.
2. Having a long chat with DH over coffee this afternoon. We do this quite a bit, but it never gets old and I love that we can talk for hours about random stuff and in the next sentence our worries and problems.
3. Ejoying the brightness that a clear blue sky has brought today.
4. Trawling through other peoples 5 pleasures and being reminded of lots of little things I often take for granted and don't recognise.
5. Lounging around and the prospect of more lounging and sky+ catching-up after our roast dinner0 -
Evening all.
I have to confess to a shockingly lazy day today, so my pleasures are five variations on 'doing nothing'.
1) Long lie-in this morning.
2) Chatted to my parents on the phone.
3) Watched the football.
4) Watched the snooker with a lapful of cat.
5) Easy dinner of sausage casserole LO from Friday before going out to my first pub quiz since before Christmas.
Hugs to everyone who's having difficult times at the moment.Back after a very long break!0 -
1. My date went swooningly well and I'm seeing him again
(tonight!!)
2. NSD no. 3 for the year
3. Cooked scrummy dinner for me and DD using free wood in the kitchen woodburner that has warmed the entire house up, think I need to do this more often as I've had the heating on way too much this winter....
4. Took some fabulous photos of DD and friends when we went out to the park
5. Did I mention I'm seeing the lovely man againDoing my best not to be cynical about it, covering my fears up well with a big dopey smile on my face!!

This all sounds very promising! Fingers crossed - and have fun tonight!
1) Badminton was fun today- even though my left shoulder is still sore
2) Organised for my friend to look after the kitty. I made her fudge to say thanks after the disasterous cake I made yesterday. The fudge was a little odd as I made it with OOD rice milk. Fine for me though!! :j
3) Chatted with my mum on the phone
4) The Princess Bride on TV - Inconcievable!
5) Going to bed early tonightas I need to get the 7am train to London
Nighty night
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Evening,
Pleasures for the last couple of days in no particular order:
1. Only needed a small food shop this week but decided to stock up on store cupboard items and things for the freezer as had a £12 off £60 spend voucher. Means should not spend a lot next week.
2. Upgraded DD's mobile phone today so she is very happy, shopped around for the best deal and she has stayed with the same provider as they gave by far the best deal.
3. Dinner with some friends last night that we haven't seen since before christmas. She cooked the starter and main and we took dessert and wine with us so all very MSE:money:
4. Chatting with above friends DD on Skpe. She is in America and hasn't been having a good time so it was nice that we could all chat and see that she is doing OK. Hopefully she has a new work placement to go to next week that sounds so much better than where she is at the moment.
5. Busy afternoon cooking today. Beef casserole in the slow cooker for dinner tonight with roasties and Y.Puddings. Also made a big pan of chicken and veg soup for lunches during the week. An apple and raspberry crumble, bakewell tart and some breakfast muffins. Potatoes and veg prepared for tomorrows dinner as well.:A
6. Just spotted the wool I was looking for to finish off a baby blanket that I started ages ago so going to do some work on that now as I have had 3 people ask me to make them blankets in the last week:eek:.
Hugs to all who need them0 -

4. Watched a fascinating programme I had recorded last night about the 10 secrets of dieting. It contained a lot of new medical research about how the body deals with food and the effects of exercise. I must now try to eat protein to keep my from feeling hungry, or a bowl of soup as it stays in the stomach a lot longer. I was delighted to hear that even the day after exercise your body is burning a lot more fat, even at rest!
Hi Ginger Snap, I watched that programme too with DH, DD and her BF and we found it very interesting and inspiring (I have been walking up escalators since I saw the bit about the after-burn!). I am on a constant attempt to lose weight but haven't been terribly successful so far, perhaps if I put in practice a few of the 10 secrets I shall be successful at last!
Here are my pleasures for today:
1 - DH signature breakfast in bed (porridge with fruits and nuts).
2 - Glorious sunny day!
3 - Mystery shopping restaurant assignment with DH, we had a great meal and a lovely time!
4 - After dinner we hit the sales! I bought a few items that I needed, not terribly cheap but very high quality and that should last a long time (if I lose weight I can have the skirts taken in!).
5 - DD made us a lovely dinner of vegetable and beetroot soup (one of the 10 diet secrets!).
Good night everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
kittikins - ooh, glad your date went well
Have fun tonight!
Here are mine from today:
1) Got round to doing lots of jobs which were on the 'to do' list.
2) DH hung the first bit of my crochet bunting in the lounge.
3) Got side-tracked from the bunting making a scrap wool bedspread - 80 inch rows of every colour I have in my huge oddment stash. It's looking very cheerful.
4) Most of the items listed on ebay sold.
5) Had a nice bath and finished off 'The Last Witchfinder' book.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Here are mine for today
1) Great time spent with old friends we haven't seen for a while
2) My homemade croissants were edible! In fact they tasted really quite nice despite not rising too well.
3) I've just enjoyed some uninterrupted newspaper reading
4) It's truly starting to dawn on me that "old-style" living is actually normal living, what everyone has done forever apart from an odd blip for the last few decades! So I don't feel at all deprived, rather I feel somehow connected to all those people who for centuries have cooked from scratch, conserved precious resources, made their own clothes etc. And loving the fact that the more self-sufficient we are the less we are at the mercy of the vagaries of the economy.
5) I'm thinking of doing some more studying and there is so much fantastic university course material on the internet that I could study every hour of every day and never run out of new things to learn without spending a penny.Must get organised and rejoin grocery challenge!0 -
Lovely to see lots of people posting again. :-) Here are mine for the weekend.
Saturday
1) Had a bit of a lie in.
2) Went out for lunch with my sister.
3) MrN took my sons and 3 of his to the barbers :-)
4) Went wassailing at mum and dad's. Really just an excuse for a bonfire and big tea.
5) Watched Casualty on iplayer in bed. I have watched it since the first series but am not really enjoying the present domestic violence storyline. :-( On January 7th it was 6 years since the children and I left my ex husband.
Sunday
1) Another lie in.
2) Went to pick up some Action Man stuff we won on ebay from a seller who happened to be quite local. There is tons of it! The chaps themselves, vehicles, accessories and clothes.
3) Popped to Sainsburys. MrN looked after smaller son so bigger son and I actually had a couple of hours to ourselves.
4) Went swimming with MrN and 5 youngest sons and that went pretty well.
5) School friend came round for tea.
6) Hoping MrN can make it over here for a cup of tea shortly but there is always the iplayer in bed if not. :-)
Hope everyone is OK.0
