No post yesterday as I slept on and off through the day again, I really must pull my sox up and stay awake during the day. It's been hard lately, no doubt recovering from all the visits etc. but now it's over for another year and I can get back to normality

Wishing all the poorlies well now, and hope everyone is settling down again

    1. 2 x nsd's - that's 3 out of 4 this year :j hope it lasts

    2. Tidied and reorganised the freezer (how quickly it gets in a mess), I have enough in there to last me 2/3 weeks. Will just need to buy fresh veg and milk, and can make bread if I need it

    3. Visited DD today to see the DGC and the new dog, a Korean Jindo. Never heard of the breed til now but apparently it's in the same family as the German Spitz, which DD already has 4 of. (Hadn't heard of that either til DD bought her first one!) Took the parrot the thick cardboard inner from a roll of brown parcel tape, so he loves me today :D. Funny bird always wants me to stroke his head, then he purrs

    4. A really mild day so was able to turn off the heating until evening

    5. A lovely OS'er offered me some sarongs to take on holiday, to save me buying them. Thank you very much, you-know-who-you-are :A

    Night night, sweet dreams

Didn't buy anything when I had to go into town to do some banking - was tempted as was rather hungry but instead returned home ravenous and demanded we sorted food! :)

Made leftover-chicken risotto tonight for dinner - all storecupboard type items. :)

    Did t1k1 fishing on JPJ...

Oh, and politely told the lady in Lloyds to sod off when trying to flog me a CC! ><
    On the up :D

    So far...

Breakfast 'quesadillas' using up a couple of drumsticks, the end of a jar of salsa and some sour cream. Oh my goodness  :j

The early morning quiet (and tidy kitchen!) that comes from being first up :T

    And the first cuppa :A

    Evening all.

I've had a less than brilliant day today. :( I knew it wasn't going to be good when I woke up this morning following a bad dream, half an hour before my alarm was due to go off: to me that's the worst time to wake up as it's too late to go back to sleep but, as the heating hasn't come on at that point, too early (and too cold) to get up. The cat then took advantage of my unexpected wakefulness to ask to go out, but changed his mind when I opened the door, leaving me standing in the cold of the open door on my own.:mad: I then stomped back to bed to warm up, tripped over the cat and fell into the chest of drawers, leaving myself with a HUGE bruise on my leg.:mad::mad:

Things could only get better from there on in! :rotfl: (Although a colleague's account of his woeful Christmas didn't help - his wife was hospitalised with flu, leaving him caring for two sick under-fives on his own over Christmas. Makes my misery look a bit misplaced, I know! :o)

Anyway, there must be some pleasures:

    1) Finally managed to get a minor problem with my letting agent sorted out: before Christmas they forwarded a bill to me that wasn't meant for me, and I haven't been able to get hold of anyone until today to let them know they'd made a mistake.

    2) A quiet day at work so I had time to get the Christmas tree down. (And isn't it amazing how, when the tree goes up, the office is full of willing helpers, but, when it's time for the damn thing to come down again, everyone's far too busy to notice a woman engaged in a life-and-death struggle with a six foot tall plastic tree? smiley-confused005.gif)

    3) Getting home to my nice warm flat, with a nice warm loo. The central heating in the loos at work has been turned off (accidentally, I think - I don't think the organisation's that short of money (yet)), which made going for a pee decidely unpleasant!

    4) Took down my decorations at home. That's not a pleasure, of course, but it does mean I've got room for the fake candle I picked up cheap in Lakeland yesterday.

    5) A new recipe for dinner tonight - tuna and sweetcorn lasagne, from the book I won in a forum competition late last year. It smells lovely and I'm sure it will be delicious, if I can beat the cat to it. ;)

Frith - I'm glad you had a good day yesterday, and I hope today was just as good.

Broomstick - I'm glad your DSs are getting betterish.

Have a nice evening, all - I must go and race the cat to the lasagne (very Garfield! :)).
Back after a very long break!

    Evening all,

CCP - sorry you had such a rotten morning... hopefully this evening will be good!

    1) I had a supplier meeting this morning so I got to bumble around the flat before leaving at 9am. I got a couple of things sorted out so felt good about that.

    2) Popped to the shops and bought my self some jammies for my holiday so that I am decent when I stay with my friend. I got the tattie teddy ones from M&S with the little short dressing gown jackety thing. I have wanted this for over a year now so am very chuffed that I managed to get it in the sale. They are a size smaller than I am but.... they look big so hopefully they will fit. I also picked up a gorgeous little outfit for my new nephew (I hope it is a boy!!) in the sale.

    3) Heard that my ex-bf who I am still friends with girlfriend had a baby this morning. I still can't believe that he is has become a dad... he can barely look after himself! Hopefully he will now finally grow up (that's the reason that we split)

    4) Making up a big pot of bolognaise sauce this evening - yum! I will also make up some pasta so I something to take to work for lunch tomorrow (I love the fact we now have a microwave at our disposal!)

    5) Got a cute half price calendar with kitties on it...

    night all -

    look after yourselves

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    Evening

CCP - Hugs to you, hope your week gets better.

    Pleasures for today:
    1. Walked to work again this morning, going to try to keep this up but don't know how long it will last.
    2. Really enjoyed the HM chicken and veg soup I had for lunch and followed it with a really naughty piece of cheesecake left over from a meeting.
    3. Ordered DD a new oyster card as she has managed to lose hers. It did cost £10 but means she gets free bus travel on all the local buses.
    4. Got the last of the christmas presents posted for niece and nephews that where supposed to be given before now but due to the weather the planned delivery didn't go ahead. As they got so much at christmas it gives them something to look forward too now. Also remembered to include niece's birthday card and present in the parcel.
    5. Few food bargains in M&S and Waitrose this evening plus bought DD a new A3 sketch book which was 1/2 the price I was expecting it to be.
    6. Dinner tonight of a cheats (used jar of sauce) chicken curry, with rice and naan. Really tasty and much cheaper than a takeaway.

Hugs to all who need them

    Evening everyone
Seems to have been a busy few days with not much computer time - good job I've given up work, as I'm not sure how I'd fit it in at the moment!
Good things from the past few days:-
    1) Resolved some differences with the family, and spent what turned out to be a lovely day with them on Monday. Still being/feeling cautious, but I'm feeling hopeful for the future, after a frank talk with them.
    2) Got some absolute bargains today in Hobbycraft for my cardmaking :j
    3) A few NSD's (until today :o )
    4) No work tomorrow, or the day after, or the day after.........:D
    5) Looking forwards to getting my house back into some order after years being too tired to tackle much.

Hope everyone's well or at least feeling better if you've been poorly

    Pam x
  • Well done Frugalpam on the weight loss. I had not noticed before.

    1) Got to work on time. Always a miracle.
    2) Had to stay back and sort something out that really didn't seem that important but one colleague stayed back with me, which was very much appreciated, and we had a good chat while we were working. It's good to do something different, sometimes.
    3) DH got a pay rise. Just a small one as a token but I feel grateful that the work he put in before Christmas has been rewarded.
    4) Someone left one of our plates on the doorstep, along with two empty jars. I have no idea who I lent that one to or what was on it but I hope they enjoyed it and more jars are always welcome.
    5) We are still eating left overs. There is more Christmas cake in the pantry and I feel sure there is more shortbread too. Unfortunately, there is also lots of cheese, and the combination of cake and cheese is very calorific. However, I am going to resist the temptation to just take it all to work.

    5 for today.

    1) Made loads of phone calls inc the builder and piano tuner and changing appointments for son's hearing test and the dentist!

    2) Phoned the Financial Ombudsman and they are going to help find out why no one has replied to my letter aiming to settle my final debt...

    3) Nice boiled egg and soldiers for lunch.

    4) Enjoyed watching the DIY SOS with Mike on iplayer.

    5) Cooked tea for us and MrN's and it went well.

Just sitting on the sofa wondering what threat to issue next if either son appears in the living room doorway AGAIN.... aARArarARARahGHghGH!

Oh and 6) Got a banana and date cake in the oven!
  • I'm going to be very quick tonight as my electric blanket is waiting for me :D

    1) Went visiting with some new-ish friends. Their rented converted barn is amaaazing! But as they themselves admitted, it's very sparkly and wow-ey but underneath all the beauty is a bit of a botched conversion job. Plus it was freeezing! They only use a couple of the many rooms in the winter. A lovely visit though.
    2) Was able to keep the grocery shop quite low this week thanks to some luncheon vouchers from a survey site.
    3) Made a very nice lasagne and added some BBQ jerk sauce as I had run out of worcs - it was an addition that I'll use again. Very nice!
    4) DH very kindly turned himself into a human hot water bottle when I was cold on the settee this evening. Although he did fall asleep and dribbled a bit on my shoulder!
    5) Am getting quite far with my crochet bunting. It's going to look very cheerful in our lounge when it's finished.

    N'nite all :)
