5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Evening everybody!
Very glad that the bit of snow we got this morning was short lived, and has been washed away by the rain :j
Felt very lazy this morning, but did get myself up and moving by lunchtime. I've decided not to feel guilty about taking it easy - have worked full time for the past 30+ years without a break, so I feel I've earned some 'me' time. However, I'm just not used to it :rotfl:
Todays pleasures
1 - Started de-cluttering spare room. Rounded up various rubbish and took it off to the council tip, and recycled a lot of paper and cardboard
2 - Went bargain hunting in the food aisles in the supermarket. Nice to have the time to rummage instead of the old dashing in and out
3 - Checked through some insurance policies and discovered that even though I took voluntary redundancy, I'm still entitled to claim some money back. I'm one of those people who pay out year after year and never make claims, so it's nice to think I'll get a bit back
4 - Gave puddy tat lots of time and attention and had fun playing ball with her (she loves chasing a ping pong ball round the lounge and up the hall)
5 - Caught up with various correspondence
Hope you're recovered CCP after that rotten day you had recently. Ladyhawk - sorry to hear about your colleague, and hope that the treatment is effective, and very sorry to hear the prognosis for your other colleagues sister. Really does make me count my blessings. Life's too short, which is why I'm glad I and my family are managing to heal recent rifts.
Hope everyone's well,
Pam x0 -
Lily_The_Legend - thanks for the tip-off about the Boots points. I hadn't heard about that, and will have to go and do some research.
Here's a link to the website CCP, shame I didn't know about it before Christmas!

1) Brought lunch into work for the fourth day in a row, so that's every day this week :j
2) Tonight will be dinner from the menu plan - red pesto pasta
3) I've been getting some fab tips from OS and the frugal challenge thread :T
4) I may have to use some of leftovers up tonight e.g. a slice of Christmas cake with a cup of tea.
5) Tonight I'll flick through some of the free magazines I've picked up from work this week. I'll hand them on to my mum afterwards. I'll also start filling in my diary which arrived yesterday.
I hope everyone has a fab, frugal evening! :j0 -
Evening all. As always, I hope you're all well.
Lily - thanks very much for the link - I've bookmarked that for future reference. Thanks also for the mention of red pesto - I haven't had that in ages and will have to get some again. (I don't get it often as I love it so much I can eat it straight from the jar with a spoon, which isn't a terribly healthy idea!)
frugalpam - good for you for taking some 'me' time - as you say, you've earned it!
MrsGSR - welcome to the thread! :hello: Of course we don't mind you joining in - the more the merrier!
Ginger Snap - it's good to hear from you.I hope all your recent downs are balanced by an abundance of ups very soon.
Broomstick - I can't see anythingabout your new onion bag - it sounds like a very good idea to me.
My pleasures for today:
1) I've felt better today than I have done since new year - if not exactly cheerful, then at least not actually depressed. That's got to be good!
2) The sun came out at lunchtime so I could get to the bank without getting rained on...
3) ... and there's a bit more money in my account than I expected there to be. I'm not sure quite why, but I'm not going to argue!
4) Stuck to my list in the supermarket this evening, with the exception of a large lump of top-quality stilton that was RTC. How could I possibly resist?
5) Sausage and baked bean casserole for dinner. My dad ordered too many chipolatas to go with Christmas dinner and the excess ones came home with me (frozen, obviously), so this seemed like a tasty, warming way of using them up - and it bulks out the sausages so I'll have enough left for lunch tomorrow, and possibly Sunday as well if I'm not too piggy tonight.
Have a good Friday evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -

No problem CCP!If you're as keen on green pesto there's a link to a voucher you can print to get off Sacla pesto on the voucher thread - it's the first one mentioned in the second post:

That's great you're feeling better today! :T
Have a lovely evening.0 -
Good evening.
For yesterday(day off) here are my 5:
1 Spoke to my Mum,who is coming over to visit next week for a week.Really looking forward to seeing her.
2 A NSD.
3 Went for my first run of the year.It did me the world of good. Then did stretches.
4 Used my fab free Food Processor for the first time.Made a cheesecake (my first ever),using ingredients that I'd bought meaning to make it at Christmas.
5 Got an email from an aquaintence whom I hadn't heard from for a while.
For today:
1 Work is still really quiet.I'm not complaining,it's just weird.
3 My workplace has a system which allows a variety of discounts to card-holders. Paid up for this year.
3 A patient who has been in hospital for over 3 months got home today.
4 Leftover veggie stew and mashed tatties for lunch instead of the usual soup.Nice to have a change.
5 Had some of the cheesecake this evening. It's a mincemeat cheesecake recipe by Nigel Slater from a December Observer mag.You don't really taste the cheesecake TBH but it does add a certain 'je ne sais quoi'.Anyway it's delicious. The first of many methinks....
Ladyhawk your post does put things in perspective. How sad for your 2 colleagues.
Sparrer congratulations on the weight loss.
Wishing you all a great weekend x0 -
Evening all,
CCP - glad you are feeling a little bit more chipper
Thank you all for your kind thoughts for my friends. I got a text from A this afternoon, the chemo was delayed by 3 hourse but she got through it and was feeling as ok as is possible. I am considering shaving my hair when she does but think that it may be a little silly and I might chicken out anyway!!
1) Good day at work - not too stressful except for one very annoying email... grrr....
2) Took lunch into work
3) Look back the jammies to M&S so got my money back on them. I thought that I might be in for an arguement as the sales assistant was so sour but it was fine.
4) Treated myself to a pedicure in preparation for strutting around the beach next week. It was 40% off so it is MSE! (and my tootsies look fabulous!) I gave myself a manicure this evening as well (did it my self so it's OS!)
5) Finished my book and thoroughly enjoyed it. Going to start the last one in the series this evening.
Night night - sleep tight and have fabulous weekend
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Hi everyone,
Here's mine for today:
1) I'm starting to get back into the fabulous OS board after a bit of a break from internet forums
2) I made a root vegetable pie and jam tarts which were all delicious, low-cost and healthy (ish)
3) I have such a lovely little boy, I didn't leave the house all day but was so happy with his company
4) An old friend came for dinner, it was so good to catch up and she reminded me what nice people there are in the world
5) I'm on an 11 day streak in my 750 words (https://www.750words.com) and am really starting to reap the benefits of doing it
Bonus 6) Printed off the OS calendar and think it's fabulous!
Not so good was finding out a good friend may have cancer, struggling to know what to do to help.Must get organised and rejoin grocery challenge!0 -
well !
It's very warm !
Will have to think very hard about my pleasures,no-one has slept well because of the heat, we were all late to bed but all up early just to get out of bed!
1.Yesterday we got on a bus, got on a train to city.
2.stopped at city for an hour, had some lunch, did some people watching but it was exceptionally hot.36o and an intense city heat .
3.A peaceful demonstration was going on, rallying against (I think) oppression of a religion. We sat out the way but it made for interesting viewing & discussion........you gotta love educating in the holidays!
4. Got on another train ,with seconds to spare, and went in a new to us direction! OH met us at station near his work & we headed to a new to us beach! It was very hot! Had a nice chat with a family who had emigrated from England.
5. Got take away pizza & sat in a park & ate it for dinner at 8pm, still very warm.
So we have done the hopping on & off of trains, know we can do it so will do it again! Today is to be another hot day, need to do food shop then will head out somewhere I think.
have a good night/Saturday when it comes.

Have had an odd day today as the Third Musketeer has finally moved house and is now about 6-8 hours' drive away from us, which seems dreadful.
However
1) Was able to spend the morning packing up their kitchen, which I am fabulous at doing, since we have moved so often ourselves.
2) Sushi for lunch. I have to eat wheat-free and I've just been so bored recently with making everything myself, so this was good, and it was only the price of a normal sandwich.
3) Got a half-price ham from the yellow-sticker department, and some half-price potatoes to make an evening meal for all of us. There are enough left-overs for a modest family tea tomorrow. I was really pleased that their last few hours in the area were spent at our house.
4) Was sent a book by a friend who got three of the same thing for Christmas!0
