-
Good evening all. Hope everyone is well, warm and safe. Ladyhawk, just to put your mind at ease, I said I saw in the new year in someones arms - didn't wake up with them! Woke up alone but happy.
My five for today,
1. A nice clean house (for once).
2. The small problem I had with my car door lock was soon sorted with a bit of WD40 and not a £60 new lock.
3. DD2 making me a lovely cup of tea without being asked.
4. Ex seemingly nearer to getting his own place rather than sponging off his brothers goodwill. Time he stood on his own two feet and got a reality check.
5. Feeling cherished.
Love to all. X0 -
Happy New Year to all!!
Have been rather quite on here since before Christmas thanks to spending the festive season in a remote Welsh cottage without internet access - so heavenly that the pleasure of it will last me all year!
Now feel like we are back to earth with a bump as back to work tomorrow...
Pleasures for today:
1. Knowing that when I get to work tomorrow morning all my lesson resources are ready and waiting on my desk.
2. Frugal lunch of odd bits of veg soup with ham sarnie (ham leftover from Xmas)
3. Used the last pence on a WHSmiths gift card to make a Birthday card for a friend a bit cheaper.
4. A loooovely long 7 mile walk with our dog, some friends and their dog (friends aren't used to walking so they struggled for the last couple of miles - but they said they really enjoyed it and want to go again)
5. Potatoes currently simmering away ready to be mashed to go with HM chicken, ham and leek pie for tonight's supper and also to go on top of yesterday's LO beef to make a cottage pie...delicious!
6. A very good friend texting me to say she is coming to visit this weekend - hurrah!Clearing debt to save for a simple wedding.Starting 2016 With debt of £77000 -
Hello & Happy New Year to you all. Not posted in ages and not been that MSE for a while either. Got married in August and therefore all my energy went into planning it (Lovely & eco & DIY) but left no time for craft, cooking, foraging ect.....Im so back into it now. Feeling organised for 2011 however, so my five for today -
1. Amazing curry just heating for tea from OH roast chicken last night (Bones in freezer for stock later)
2. Thai Butternut squash soup in slow cooker for tomm at work (to use in new xmas flask with gorgeous retro bird motif)
3. Tidy house, washing drying and Xmas decs down
4. Learnt to Crochet on Xmas day thanks to MIL and loving it
5. Game of scrabble with OH later on, last of the stilton & booze to be used up too.0 -
Evening all,
Beachbaby - sorry about my assumption - you seem like a really lovely person who is getting to grips with her life. It would be a shame to see you rush into something just as things seem to be coming together for you.
Sparrer - lol at the slanket
1) Cuddles with the kitty. He's been so cuddly while I've been on holiday.
2) Making massive progress on tidying my bedroom and sorting out my paperwork. I also changed the bedding so I am just going to have to have a hot bath this evening and will shave my legs. There are few greater pleasures than freshly shaved legs and clean fresh bedding.
3) Finished Girl with the dragon tattoo. What a fabulously well written novel. It's a real tradegy that the author died before his books were published.
4) Arranged with a friend that she will look after the mog while I'm in Dubai. She is one of the genuine nice people in the world.
5) Getting lunch ready for tomorrow. I am going to make some tomato soup.
Night night all. Hope you have a fabulous week
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
1) long soak in the bath last night
2) relief at seeing puddy-tat#2 this morning after he slipped out of the cat flap unnoticed and we spent 10 minutes searching around the house for him
3) having a lie-in until 11am
4) visiting mum today, last chance before I return to work tomorrow
5) catching up on everyone's posts"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -
Evening
Pleasures for today:
1. Giving the bathroom a thorough clean, as still new not too much of a hard job but lovely to see it all sparkly.
2. DD's school uniform all ironed ready for tomorrow plus some more ironing done.
3. Walked into town with DD, enjoyed the fresh air and stopped for a sandwich in a lovely local cafe
4. Walked around the sales but resisted temptation and will wait for things to be reduced again.
5. Popped into Waitrose and got quite a few reduced items.
6. Simple dinner of HM meatball and pasta bake followed by DD's favourite of HM bakewell tart.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Evening all.
After yesterday's day of simple pleasures I've spent today feeling reallyfor no real reason. I'm determined to think of some pleasures, though:
1) Another nice lie-in this morning.
2) A low spend day - I just had to get a packet of tissues at one point. (It turns out the weekly pub quiz was yesterday after all, so I missed it: a disappointment, but it saved me a bit of money on drinks, I suppose.)
3) HM chilli for dinner, and very nice it was too.
4) Watched the Italian detective programme, Zen, on iplayer - lovely scenery, even if the plot didn't make much sense (to me, anyway).
5) One more day off tomorrow before going back to work. Lucky me!
6) Naughty, I know, but I'm going to treat myself to a splosh of my dad's HM sloe vodka as a nightcap.
Have a nice evening, peeps.Back after a very long break!0 -
Good evening.
For today (day off):
1 Felt pretty relaxed today instead of my usual 'wound-up'.
2 Very cold out but sunny with bright blue skies.
3 Went for a walk.
4 Made a cake using my 'use by today' ricotta.
5 Lots of time spent playing with the wee cat ('Your Wish Is My Command,Oh Furry One').
Sweet dreams x0 -
Frith, sorry, I thought I was the only regular Archers listener in here. Wouldn't have posted my opinion had I known!
Sparrer - slankets for dogs... there's a small business in that for someone!
(((((CCP))))) - hope tomorrow feels better.
My five for Monday:
1. Three out of three NSDs so far this year. Very pleased with myself.
2. Made end-of-week (using up almost all the veg) soup, garlic bread (from the freezer), scrambled egg (using up the eggs) and baked apples (using up the apples) for supper. Both the DSs are still poorly but they managed to eat pretty well from that mix!
3. Got DS2's bed remade and all his jamas washed and dried. He's been in bed much of the time now for 8 days.
4. Remembered to freeze an uneaten bunch of bananas before they went off (I've never managed to do that before), and two lemons cut into slices and the remainder of the soup. Does anyone know if you can freeze bought Mr S mince pies? It doesn't say on the packet. I think I should rescue them before they are beyond all hope as well.
5. The advent of a bit of snow today made me tackle the mess that was all the scarves, gloves, hats etc. I've now liberated the basket they were in to use for all my sewing and knitting stuff. I need to make a lining for it first - I'll find some fabric to quilt, I think. Looking forwards to a proper project.
Sweet dreams

Today's pleasures were:
- Receiving a late Christmas pressie from DH after he had gone away to work for the week - two treatments from the beauty salon at the gym I go to. He waited until he had arrived then phoned me to tell me about it. Eagle-eyed me had already spotted the envelope!
- Sharing leftover cottage pie with DS & DH and we all cleared our plates!
- Simple tea of scrambled eggs on toast for me and DS. Tasted delicious!
- Sorted out my tupperware cupboard and matched up each tub with its lid. I get so frustrated when I need a tub and can't find the matching lid!
- Gave my kitchen the once-over. Started with a Flylady 15-minute session, but was enjoying myself so it ended up with a complete blitz. Looks fantastic now!
