5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Hi everyone!
PS Thanks for the replies about fan ovens - it's made my mind up that I'll go for one of these :j0 -
Afternoon all.
I've had one of those days that would probably seem really boring to some people, but I've enjoyed it - and I know everyone on this thread will understand what I mean!
1) Another long lie-in this morning.
2) LO HM pizza for lunch. I always find it's even better cold the next day - strange, I know!
3) Had a nice long chat to my DM on the phone. We shouldn't have been able to find anything to talk about as I've only been home for a couple of days after spending a week at my parents' place, but we still managed to chat for nearly an hour about nothing very much in particular.
4) Pruned the ivy round the entrance to my flat, which was getting a bit out of hand (as ivy tends to).
5) NSD - like Broomstick and sparrer, I'm aiming for quite of a few of these this year.
6) Cooked a beef and red wine stew for dinner - it's all ready and will just need warming up and the addition of some veggies to go with it later on.
7) I've just realised there won't be a pub quiz tonight - it'll be on tomorrow (Bank Holiday Monday) instead - so I can do some catching up on iplayer instead. My DM recommended the programme about Morecambe and Wise that was on yesterday (or possibly the day before), so I'll probably watch that with the half-glass of red wine left over from the stew.
All in all, a pleasantly non-eventful day.Have a nice evening, everyone, with as much or as little event as you fancy.
Back after a very long break!0 -
Happy 2011 everyone
Great to hear from Savingforoz - can't wait to hear more world travel adventures.
Hello again to CCP, Muppet and Girlysquare :hello:
Well done Frith for talking up for yourself. Glad you got a positive response from MrN.
Here are mine from the past couple of days:
1) Unfortunately DS2 didn't quite make sleeping through the night at the Sea Scouts sleepover. We had to go and pick him up at 12.45! But it was a pleasure that he had agreat time while he was there as did DS1.
2) DS1's 'girlfriend' has been here today and we made some Primeval -inspired sugar cookies. What a mess  But it was nice to do something all together.
3) The return of Primeval on tv (more for DS2's sake than mine!)
4) Father Ted night last night.
5) Although it's quite sad taking the tree and decorations down I always like the pleasure of starting afresh.
6) Crocheting the peas in a pod from Toy Story 3.
7) Getting to the tip with some old stuff that's been lurking at the back of the house for a few months.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Hi all
Great to see old friends posting after an absence, hello again to CCP, Savingforoz (I am glad you are having a great time!), Girlysquare and Muppet81!
Frith, I was delighted to read about your New Year's revelations, it was obviously the right time for you to say it all. Mr N's reaction sounds very positive to me! Hope it progresses all in the right direction from now, best wishes!
Here are my pleasures for the last couple of days:
Saturday (New Year's Day):
1 - Long lie-in with DH, very precious to have him with me on a Saturday morning as every Saturday he normally gets up early to go to his &^%%$* martial arts class, so this was a particularly nice treat.
2 - As it no longer was time for breakfast I got up and cooked "brunch": homemade baked beans and potato cakes with grilled sausages. Everybody enjoyed it.
3 - Walk with DH to a friend's house to give her a lot of ("high quality" well known names) environmentally unfriendly cosmetics - she loves them and could not care a fig whether they are organic or not, whereas I have recently made the decision not to use stuff that contains potentially harmful chemicals. My friend could not care less (in fact the more "anti-ageing" chemicals, the better, in her opinion!), the stuff costs a fortune and would have gone wasted in my cupboard, my friend would have bought more of it anyway had I not given her mine, and my own chemical cosmetics would have ended up in a landfill. She was ecstatic at the bagful of poisons I gave her, go figure! Win-Win!:rotfl:
4 - From the "chemically enhanced" friend, on to another friend, a much older lady who is quite lonely so I wanted to make sure she is well. She was very glad to see us and we spent a pleasant hour with her.
5 - DS made dinner, a nice potato, onion and pasta soup.
6 - Watched "Eric and Ernie", with Victoria Wood, about the early years of Morecambe and Wise. Thoroughly loved it.
Sunday (today)
1 - DH's signature porridge breakfast in bed, yummy!
2 - Started reading the book that DH bought for me for Christmas, the Ilyad, in Italian prose translation! He had ordered it especially from Italy for me! Gripping, better than the best best-seller, can't wait to go back to read some more!
3 - Open House afternoon at a friend's, met with other lovely neighbours and old friends who I had not seen for a while.
4 - Agreed with this friend that we need re-starting making Morsbags to give to the local shops.
5 - Planning a roast dinner and then watch Zen (about a detective in Rome).
Have a great evening everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Good evening all..hope everyone is snug.
My pleasures today:
1) Warming up by the woodstove
2) Burying my 'green cone' composter to nearly the right depth!
3) Phone calls with family
4) Laying out a 'dry run' for a new garden path/veggie patch.
5) NSD :T0 -
1. Working out the slow cooker is a force for good (it's getting used tomorrow for sausage casserole)
2. My hand blender makes a lot of mess but brilliant thick soup
3. Swede doesn't taste as bad as I remember
4. I like walking - 9.7k steps today
5. Asda ia brilliant for reduced casserole packs which make fabby soup.** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
**SPC 2012 #1498 -£152 and 1499 ***

7) watching 'Eric and Ernie' the drama about Morecambe & Wise, followed by 'Behind the Scenes' and some more Eric and Ernie this evening. '...bring me sunshine...'
8) enjoying catching up with everyone's posts"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough

But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
