    Another day mearly done!
    1. DD says on Facebook 'we may not have much money this Christmas but we have all the family together and its my last Christmas as the youngest cos my baby will be here soon! '

    2. Been to see Mum and has lunch made in her slowcooker and talked about bargains she had searched out - one convert there!

    3. Had homemade shepherds pie, yummy and now as full as can be.

    4. Got a beautiful cot from my friends daughter for DD's baby, renewing the chain of swopping my friend and I did when ours were little. can't beleive we have grown up kids who are having babies!

    5. freezers nearly full, kids just gone bargain hunting at Mr T's and going to spend her veggie vouchers

All in all lovely day seeing Mum and coming home to tidy house - DD had friends over and left everywhere spick and span for me.

Cold today! Felt quite sad because the ex is taking me to court again (this has been going on for 5 years, he's not a terribly nice man). He wants more contact with the boys and wants his new fiancee to be present and, for reasons we won't go into involving herself and social services, that is not going to happen in a hurry. But he will make life as difficult as possible for everyone until he finally comes to realise that!

    Today's 5:

    1) Went to see my Grandma (92) who is quite senile now but she knew who I was. She thought it was c. 1978 for most of my visit but then suddenly turned and said, "So what's that stupid ex of yours doing? Got himself married again yet?" which was funny!

    2) Came back home and did my college homework which "flowed" quite nicely.

    3) Went swimming with my sons and brother. When I realised the showers were on cold (you can't adjust them) I must admit I didn't shout to them but waited for the screams to come from the boys changing rooms!

    4) Had a good tidy up just now and little son helped me clean the kitchen floor. They're on the sofa wrapped in a quilt and are watching half an hour of Celebrity before bed.

    5) Planning my Christmas mission tomorrow. I always go to Hereford for the day by myself and get 90% of the Christmas presents, all the stocking fillers and the (essential) new Primarni pyjamas that the boys get every Christmas Eve to be wearing when Santa comes! I also go to my favourite cafe for lunch and to the Stanbury Chapel in Hereford Cathedral. I'm an atheist but that particular tiny room has the best stained glass I have ever seen. I did my work experience when I was at Uni in Hereford and still love it.

  • Such pleasures:-

    1. Last lovely day in Yorkshire.

    2. The sun shone for us.

    3. Oh the view from Castle Hill,

    4. Finding potted meat in a local supermarket, not seen it for decades, they don't do it where I live and I love it.

    5. DH has just made some tea.

    Bella.

Acey - I love All Saints cafe - not very OS but there again us MSE mums don't often indulge! Enjoy your day of peace and I hope the sunlight shines brightly through that window.

    Five today:

Going into town to watch the local regiment's homecoming parade after their duty in Afghanistan. The whole high street was lined six deep on both sides, clapping and cheering as the lads and lasses came through. Some of them looked so young. Glad I went -but couldn't help shedding a tear about the ones who hadn't made it back and their friends and families - too many locally.

Santa found a 'Creature Comforts' video for only £1 - lovely clean box and video and right up DS1's street.

A friend calling round to borrow something - and stopping for a 10-minute coffee and catch up.

My boys getting home from school to find that the elf wasn't house-trained and had pooped in his bed ... and laughing their socks off when they realised it was Maltesers!

Both boys sitting down to colour a Christmas picture in. One took over an hour and did it particularly beautifully. Once I can clear a path to our kitchen window I'll be able to start deecorating it! (This calm creativity is all down to our Christmas elf - a very good influence Chez Scotrae!)

    1. Well, I spoke too soon, DD's ear infection hasn't gone after all :(:(:( She was screaming in pain this afternoon, the pleasure, if I can call it that, is that I was able to see a doctor within 30 minutes of calling and doc prescribed a HUGE bottle of ibruprofen.

    2. DD is tucked up in my bed so I'm guaranteed lots of lovely cuddles in the morning

    3. Paid £56.66 into the mortgage this morning :)

    4. Lovely jacket spuds done in the Remo$ka for dinner. They are the tastiest in there, yum yum

    5. Finding out that I don't need to provide an outfit for my little angel, the school provides :)
  • 1) Cleaned and tidied the house this morning. It's all the better because it was in such a mess.
    2) Met my friend and near neighbour in the coffee shop for a natter.
    3) Managed to get my studying done this afternoon. I'm taking the OU Creative Writing course and it's been very difficult to swap and change instead of writing one big story but it has made me think about technique.
    4) Nice chat with my Sunday School Leader on the phone. Her husband gives DS very informal guitar lessons (for free) and really must take the credit for getting DS involved in the music group at church.
    5) Evening on our own. We had a new (to us) Jamie Oliver recipe with a huge piece of yellow-stickered salmon that has also made two sets of sandwiches for tomorrow.

    My five pleasures for Thursday:

    1. A dream I had last night has given me lots of food for thought around how I set work-related goals for the next couple of years. It made lots of things fall into place and I've been feeling much less stressed as I've been thinking through the options today so I think I might be onto something.

    2. We went to the usual mid-week home-ed group and I spent a happy few hours there chatting with parents and knitting. The children had a good time working, playing and chatting with their friends.

    3. My friend in the US has paid my car insurance for this coming year. :A

    4. We've been at the sports club tonight and I've carried on knitting while reading. I finished all the wool I had left on the beginnings of my scarf so I think I will treat myself to some more tomorrow and I've sewn the loose ends into the mitts so they are now wearable. :D

    5. Just the thought of the pleasure of getting into warm jamas in a warm bed with hot hottie and a good book in about five minutes time. :D

    Night night

Five (more) pleasures for today...ignoring the fact that I posted this morning as well...!! ;)

    1. Did the big weekly shop today (trotted round Aldi, Lidl and Morrisons, picking up bargains in each and collecting the 2 x £40 receipts in Morrisons to qualify for the £25 Christmas voucher - have weeks 1-4 now, so only one more week left to get!). Hate the big weekly shop, particularly as we are shopping for Mum & Dad at the moment, too, because of Mum's hip replacement op, so it means working from multiple shopping lists, and trying to put shopping through in £40 amounts so I have to add up all the way round - arrggghhhh...maths pressure!!!
    2. Snuggly cuddles with PigletPuss this morning on the sofa while I was writing Christmas cards - every card this year needs a little note in it about us moving house, so it is all taking longer than normal - support in the shape of a PigletPuss cuddle was very welcome, just as I was losing the will to write any more... :o
    3. Saw an old friend today (keep running into people I "used to know" now I have moved back to the area I grew up in!) - so spent 5 minutes catching up on about 10 years which was lovely.
    4. I saw one of my best friends today and she is blooming - her first baby is due between Christmas and New Year...she is huge, uncomfortable and only finished work today, but is positive and radiant. She's going to make a great Mum - lucky baby! :heartsmil
    5. This thread. I love the warmth and friendship on here (and the fact that nobody moans when my attempts at OS pleasure are not as OS as true OSers would make them...). I am trying, and people here encourage me in my efforts, so thank you everybody for that! :A

Goodnight all - sleep well! :D

P.S. Tonight's steak was delicious, and Dad made me laugh (they are certainly loving the fact that Mr P is living so close now - he is a trained chef, so loves to cook for 4 people instead of just the 2 of us, and their standard of dinner has improved greatly - with no effort on their part! :rotfl: - since he moved in next door!). As we left, Dad commented that it is lovely that we live next door all the time now, and don't have to go "home" to London. As I pointed out...its just as well he feels that way, as we no longer have anywhere else to go home to, so even if he didn't feel that way, he would still be stuck with us anyway!!!:p

Morning all  - still dark here at the moment but no doubt it will be light by the time I finish typiing :rotfl:.

bunnytoo - Hope that you and your son enjoyed your Christmas Night out .
piglet - good to hear that your roof is 'fixed' for the time being - would be awful to 'spring a leak' over Christmas - and wd to Dad for 'being there' :j. Wtg on your clever shopping in Morrisons :T
redsquirrel - good luck for your interview and I hope that it turns out to be something that you really want to do :D - and good luck with the hat too ;).
billy858 - wd on sorting your dd's bedroom - my kids used to hate my 'pre-Christmas bedroom sort-out' as they could never find anything afterwards - in summertime beds were under the window and in winter they were behind the door for extra warmth ;).
Tealady - wd you on the HM Leek and Potato Soup :T.
Caterina - so pleased to hear that you and your germs have 'turned the corner' now - really sounds like you've had the same as I had last week ((((HUGS)))) for you and wtg to your family for keeping things ticking over nicely while you've been 'out of action' - so good to get out and about again, isn't it ;). Loving the image of you and your DH working together side-by-side in the kitchen to create a family meal like that :).
savingforoz - so sorry to hear about your burglary - the rotten sods! Unfortunately it's the time of year, when 'low-life' are on the prowl knowing that when Christmas Trees are to be seen, there are very often presents (wrapped or unwrapped) lying around for the taking and they don't care who's they take . Wd on the progress of your book .
Muppet - your Boxing Day Winter Olympics sounds like a brill idea - good luck to you with the organising HSski2.gif.
nuttybabe - wd on your christmas stall selling out quickly  - they obviously knew a good thing when they saw it .
ampersand - hope Caterina managed to find your link on i-player :).
Rummer - what rotten luck on the redundancy - lousy news at any time BUT just before Christmas ................ Good to see that you can be so positive about it at the moment. I'm sure that 'something' will come up soon - even if it means a change of direction for you both.
SunnyGirl - lol at 'tinsel city' in your living room :rotfl:. Wd on being re-creative with your wreath :T. Still not got our stuff down from the loft yet!
ginnyknit - lol at your DD's facebook entry :) - hope she enjoys her LAST christmas before her baby arrives - things will never be the same again ;).
ACEY - HShugs211_32276.gif for you - sorry to hear that you're having 'OH problems' over visitation with your boys. Lol at your Grandma's comment - great when they never cease to amuse/amaze us like that! Enjoy your day in Hereford - that cafe sounds like a beautiful haven at a busy time of year .
bella - wd on getting your potted meat - good quality stuff like that is so hard to come by. Hope it has a 'decent date' on it, so you can take some home with you :).
scotrae - wd you on welcoming the 'lads and lasses' back home again - I'm sure that they all appreciate such greetings from people. Lol at the elf-poop :rotfl:.
Kittikins - awwwww HS1bearhugs_5418.giffor your DD - poor little mite - hope the ibuprofen helps to settle the infection down for her! wd on overpaying on your mortgage this month :T.
Patchwork - wd on your Creative Writing Course - sounds like you've switched to 'short-story writing' - great way of starting off. What a lovely guy to encourage your son with the guitar playing and getting in stuff in church - hard to keep boys interested as they get older.
Broomstick - wd on getting so much of your knitting done this week and what a great 'dream' - hope you can get lots of ideas from it :).

    Mine for yesterday:

    1. Many thanks to you all for your good wishes over my 'squashy boobs session' - I'm now sitting back and just waiting for the results. I don't have any particular concerns about the 'boobies' at the moment so am quite hopeful of a good result.

    2. Managed to hand-deliver notes around all my tenants yesterday despite the rain threatening to give me a good soaking .

    3. Yesterday's pork chop meal didn't happen as they were still frozen solid at tea-time, so OH had some scouse out of the freezer - warmed up in the microwave. I had hummous on toast and then went off to DD's on a another summons. This time it was because dgd1 had been talking to her mum about the ex-OH and telling some of the 'nasty' things he used to do when her mum was in work - nothing sexual or anything like that - but just malicious, vindictive things like play-fighting and then holding a pillow over her face to frighten her; and shouting at her one evening when she was sick after going to bed, lifting her by the head and pinning her to the wall while shouting. My OH had seen him grab his own son (dgs1) by the head in that way on one occasion as well. Big man, emotional/physical bully, short fuse - thank God she's now well rid of him. All this is now adding to DD's guilt feelings - though she did stop working evenings as soon as she realised that dgd1 didn't like being left while she went to work.

    4. dgd2 showing signs of wanting to toilet train - removing her nappy when she's wet it . Also telling her mum after she's done a wee - getting there at least :T.

    5. DD has got some people coming to visit her today from the SureStart scheme about finding a Mum and Toddler Group to go to with dgd2 - will be good for them both . Unfortunatley there's no 'nursery' attached to the local school - around here that's quite unusual but the school is Methodist Church Funded, so maybe they don't have the same kind of financial structure as other schools.

    6. Have got a new tenant viewing today - so fingers crossed that we get somebody in that property (a first-floor 2-bedroomed apartment) before Christmas.

that's me done for now - need to be getting ready for a day's work in a couple of minutes. HS56f50c5961246aa8e363e52881d43e2b.gifall round - speak again later, love Ollie xxx
