Thanks to everyone for your kind words, it really does help. So lovely reading everyone's 'wintery' pleasures, this thread feels very cosy :)

    1. Great big cuddles with OH and cat on the sofa last night.
    2. Counting down the days to our Christmas trip to Venice - three weeks to go!
    3. Trying to think positively about Friday's interview as an opportunity although I am starting to get very nervous.
    4. Discovering a really good aromatherapy mix that helps my confused skin that isn't sure if it is still a teenager!
    5. Nice cup of organic tea and toast with homemade jam for breakfast.

Have a good day, hope everyone finds the inner strength and peace that they need today.

    Hi all

Thanks again for all your lovely kind words and thoughts of encouragement, they mean the world to me and are what kept me going in these last few days!

Rummer, I am sorry to hear that you have had some difficult time, I hope that things are better for you now and sending you big (((HUGS))).

Ollie, again I just want to reinforce what so many others have said, how wonderful that you always take care to have a good kind word for each and everyone of us, you are truly a lovely wonderful generous giving person and I am sure I speak for all of us when I say that we all love you very much!

Well well well wotcha know, I am up and showered and dressed - not so bad today, last night the cough kept me up ONLY half the night instead of all night so this is an improvement. I am aiming to try and do some more work on the curtains today so my guests at the weekend will have proper curtains on the window where they are staying (OSers in London for the OS meet!).

Here are my pleasures for yesterday:

1 - A better day, still challenging cough but not nearly as bad as the day before. On the mend (Please God).

2 - DD is an absolute star. She has been nursing me throughout this and I cannot even begin to tell how grateful I am for this lovely young woman in my life!

3 - DD and I had another Youtube Sob-inducing song search, but getting funny about the words. I have rarely laughed so much before!

4 - Still at peace with DH and managing to speak affectionately to each other (but still in the little room! Yippee for the little room!).

5 - DD and her BF cooked a lovely dinner, I could not eat it all but am still very grateful for it.

Will update with today stuff later on.

    Love to all

    Caterina xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Hi Everyone

Catching up after our couple of days away.

Muppet - Congratulations on getting the all clear, what great news

Caterina - I think you are really brave to say enough and I'm sure you will feel better in the long term. ((Hugs))

My pleasures for the last few days:

    1. Having a wonderful time catching up with my family and not letting my brother annoy me (as only brothers can)
    2. Enjoying another day off work today, catching up and shopping!!
    3. Helping my mum finish her christmas shopping MSE style!!
    4. DH working local so coming home for lunch, don't often get time with just the two of us so made a pleasant change
    5. Looking foward to signing carols around the christmas tree at our local community switching on of the christmas lights this evening.
  • Ollie, Sparklebox is amazing! I use it loads when I'm teaching, it's such a lifesaver. I'm sure it'll help DGS1. Another website I've found useful is Communication4All, which is similar to Sparklebox but has different resources, which you may find useful with DGS1.

    1. Made my very own stir-fry sauce last night, as OH went to the kitchen cupboard and discovered we'd run out! So, after a quick search on here, I found a recipe which is scrummy! I think I'll be making it rather than buying the jars in future.
    2. OH roasted some chestnuts in the oven as a treat last night. Unfortunately, he forgot to pierce some of them! Miraculously, only one exploded. But the chestnuts were incredibly yummy and we've still got plenty left for another night. Maybe I'll have some while OH is at football tonight... :A
    3. Gave the oven a thorough clean today as a result of the chestnut exploding yesterday, but feel quite pleased as it was due to have a good clean anyway.
    4. Found a couple of teaching posts to apply for, one of which I'm getting a really good vibe for. Am planning on going for a visit next week, so we'll see how that goes.
    5. Also written out a meal plan for the coming two weeks before we go back down south for Christmas and if I'm right, I don't think we'll need to buy anything more than milk! The joys of batch cooking and the store cupboard. :D

Hope you're all taking care in the cold weather!

    Hello everyone!

Thank you all for your kind thought, I am getting there slowly and feeling better everyday. Ollie, I missed what the need was for sparklebox but there is also sparklebox2 and SENteach is a great website. If you need specific types of resources let me know and I will do my best to point you in the right direction.

Today was hectic yet rewarding so mine are:

    1. Completing a mountain of paperwork today that I had been dreading
    2. Going to my parents for dinner and a gossip
    3. Jumping in the bath as soon as I got home
    4. Fresh bedsheets and a fur throw now on the bed (no more cold toes for me!)
    5. All my fav progs on the telly.

Here is hoping that you all find some bright day to day things to cheer you up!
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!

    Good evening everyone :D

Ollie Hope that you get some good stuff from the websites for DGS1 & that your thinking period brings fruit for you.

Caterina Still thinking about you hon. You sounded a lot more positive today & I'm hoping that whatever is right for YOU will be your answer :A

Red Squirrel, Muppet & Rummer Still thinking of you all & sending (((big hugs))) to you.

Ampersand How is Wifey et al doing? I can almost 'see' them you describe things so well.

    My five for today:

    1. A friend has been in my thoughts all afternoon & I have just heard that they are ok.

    2. MIL has had us all in fits of laughter (not in front of her obviously) as she's decided that 'she has nothing in common' with the other people in the nursing home & only goes down for lunch. She's actually interacting with the other residents more than she realises what with the hairdressers 'salon', the foot man coming in, daily lunch & afternoon entertainment twice a week but we won't let on ;)

    3. My Dad, whose back went yesterday, has finally listened to me & is taking his full dose of pain killers for a few days until it's better.

    4. Just watched a re-run of Dr Who with DS3 :D

    5. The children's christmas stuff is sorted now. Just got to wrap & hide it. Fortunately a neighbour & I are doing a swap & my lot won't be very interested in things for under 7's :rotfl: so there won't be too much searching round.

With HShugss1232_10442.gif for everyone tonight & I hope that you've all had some lovely pleasures today.

  • Hello all,
I'm back again after a difficult few weeks, not made any easier by bad reactions to flu jab and swine flu jab [even though i've had swine flu!!!] Have kept up sporadically with whats going on in your lives and i admire the way you all manage to find a 'pleasure' in the day, :A

    # finding that i may be eligeable for a grant to have the house rewired, cant use the shower as it is wired into the mains  when the electrician dropped that bombshell,[ i only wanted a new one fitted ]and realised that for the last 20 years [when i moved here] i could have been electrocuted....
#therefore ,so grateful to be alive!!
#my warm and cosy home, with the lovely fleece curtains that have made such a difference to the heating.
#lots of birds on the feeder outside my window,
#noticing the crocus bulbs popping up in the front garden, and the promise of flowers after christmas, along with fat buds on the christmas roses [hellebores] that should be out in a week or so.

    sleep well all

    1. DD is BETTER :A Thanks for all the kind wishes, she bounced downstairs this morning and told me she wasn't hot and was really looking forward to school today.
    2. We put together a bag of books for the school fete on Saturday, and I asked her to check them before putting them in a bag. It was lovely to hear her reading them and making her own decision on whether to give them away or not. We kept a few but I managed to get a whole carrier bag's worth out! Her kindness makes me so proud to know her, she said that the baby books would be a really nice present for someone's baby
    3. Picked up some packets of microwave popcorn reduced at Mr T's - 3p each, yummo! :D
    4. Day 2 of the advent calendar went down well, a packet of raisins was greeted with as much joy as yesterday's DVD. Tomorrow is a christmas cracker, I can't wait!
    5. Looking forward to tomorrow....she's going to write her first ever letter to Father Christmas tomorrow and leave it by the chimney. Hope 'he' writes back ;) Luckily she's only asking for one present and it's something I've got, clever mummy.

    Evening all

    Mine for today are:

1 Leaving the house on time for school run. I told the kids that if they ate their breakfast quick and got dressed they could see photos of Otis the Elf Sock Monkeys little adventure last night (got photos of him raiding sweetie drawer and playing on dh's ps3) - it worked!!!!

2 Spent the morning cooking rocky road and twinks for tomorrows school fete (keeping some for myself and giving some to a few mums at the school).

3 Spend all afternoon cooking with dd.

4 TV not working this evening so me and kids played instead of being glued to cbeebies!!!!!

5 Thought up how I will do the sock parrot for ds1's pirate sock monkey so will try and get that done tonight! I spent all night thinking how to do it and today it just hit me so am really excited to see if it works!!! How sad is that!!! :P

Hope all is well for everyone.

Still playing catch up on this thread, but my day was nice today because:-

    1) DH gave me £50 which he had been secretly saving in a pot:j
    2) I spoke to DS2 on the phone (it was his birthday yesterday) and he'd had a nice day. It's always nice to chat as he lives away.
    3) I cooked our favourite Beef Stew and Dumplings.....Yummy
    4) Have finished writing the Christmas Cards Yippee!
    5) I got to sit fown before 8pm and relax on the sofa

    Have a nice evening everyone!
